Kids soft serve vanilla in a cup

Staff was very friendly here. With the whole COVID-19 going on the business made sure to keep the social distancing a priority. They had a number system going so when your number is called is when you come out your car to order, which I thought was a great idea considering how warm it was today, I was able to sit in the AC car while I waited to order. They used an intercom to call your number so it was a great idea. The ice cream all tasted fresh and was made in a timely manner.

Friendly, and fast service and yummy locally made ice cream! Definitely worth a visit!

    The baklava sundae--yum!

I've been here multiple times. Both the hard and soft serve ice cream is delicious and there is also Italian ice (but I've never tried it). They also make Flurries (price includes two toppings, selection is pretty typical), shakes and sundaes. Be on the lookout for some of their specialty sundaes...I have to get the baklava sundae whenever I see it offered because it's SO good. Usually I just order from the window and eat at one of the picnic tables outside, but I actually stepped inside a few weeks ago and discovered there is a freezer full of chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches for sale in packs of six. No indoor seating though. Service is fast and friendly, usually high school kids. Prices are reasonable, what you would expect from a roadside ice cream stand.

"I went down to the crossroads Tried to flag a ride…read moreNobody seemed to know me Everybody passed me by" (Eric Clapton) If you're heading from the Hartford area on a trip to the shopping outlets in Clinton, the odds are quite good that your GPS will take you south on Higganum Road or Route 81. Eventually, you'll hit a crossroads and traffic circle where 81 meets Deep River Road or Route 80. Congratulations, because that crossroads is also the location of Crossroads, a very cool ice cream shop. We made our first ever visit to Crossroads today (they've only been open for a year and a half) and were very impressed with the friendly service, great ice cream, and outdoor seating overlooking the water. My Kiddie sized sea salt caramel dish was excellent and very reasonably priced at just $3.75. Bonus points for their generous amount of chocolate sprinkles! My wife had a dish of peanut butter brownie, and of course I sampled it. If you like peanut butter ice cream, as I occasionally do, you've probably been disappointed once in a while because the peanut butter flavor was kind of timid. But not at Crossroads! Their peanut butter flavor came blasting through loud and clear. It was fantastic. Their outdoor seating area is quite nice with lots of Adirondack chairs, tables, fire pits, and a corn hole game. I enjoyed chatting with the young staff who gave me a few blank looks when I asked them if they knew Eric Clapton's song "Crossroads". *Pro Tip - Crossroads doesn't have a website, but you'll find them on FB and Insta

Parked in the lower lot which is not accessible at all for people with disabilities. Took me forever to figure out what I wanted, grabbed a banana split for the healthy option with a banana included lol. I had Mint, Smores and Dark Chocolate Raspberry Truffle for ice cream flavors with all the fixings. Mint was the best choice, could have done without the other two. I will be back for a normal ice cream sometime.

We chose the latter in a corner window right by the falls. The service was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, to helping us find our seat, to our server helping us with the menu, to the manager coming over and talking with us to make sure everything was ok. I liked how the server first checked to see if we had any time restraints along with food allergies, etc. Speaking of the food. We started with the clam chowder and scallops. The chowder was the best I've ever had. Plenty of meat and seasoned perfectly. The scallops were amazing. The manager later told us that the scallops were the only thing that had been on the menu since day one. They tried to rotate them off once and the people went nuts. We moved on to the duck and salmon. Both were delicious. Sides were perfect as well. I'd love to write about dessert, but unfortunately, we were stuffed. They looked good, but that will have to wait until next time.

My burger as I was afraid to order seafood as they really messed that up in the past was soggy and really foul tasting. Not sure how you can ever mess up a burger. The location overlooking the river is nice, so many more better places around.

We have now learned never to say never! We were given a gift certificate to the Gelston House, as we are subscribers to the Goodspeed Opera House. Made a reservation for Saturday, May 23 at 5:30pm to be sure to get to the show on time. We were seated immediately and our server, Sarah, was great! Very attentive to all of our needs. We started with the lamb lollipops, served with Mango Salsa and mint jelly. Delicious! I had the baked seafood trio - Scallops, Shrimp, and Sole stuffed with lobster. This was served with fingerling potatoes and green bean/carrots. Everything was perfectly cooked and was excellent. My partner had the lamb loin chops - there were 4 meaty chops cooked just the way he likes. This was also served with the potatoes and green beans. He loved this dish! For dessert we split the Limoncello cake - very light and yummy! We were finished by 7:05pm, enough time to walk over to the theater and be comfortably seated before the show started. I highly recommend the Gelston House!

We followed that with the lobster ravioli which was so nasty I couldn't eat more than one bite. It had a very fishy smell. The server came over and asked if we wanted dessert, which honestly surprised me that she didn't say anything about how I hadn't eaten hardly any of my entree. We declined and left. It's a cute building, and this was the off season, so maybe it was just an off night. Based on my experience, there are better places to eat in the area.
