These 5 stars go exclusively to Austin and Giuseppe. The two of them single-handedly saved what was becoming a frustrating experience. However, their cheerful, respectful and efficient can-do attitude and the quality work that they did, made any frustrations I had with pricing and scheduling worthwhile. Austin is one of the smartest people I have worked with and can get just about anything done where others would have given up. Giuseppe is also incredibly smart, resourceful and positive, and between the two of them, the work Hive did in my house became absolutely spectacular. Quite honestly, before the two of them showed up, I was second-guessing the very large investment I had made by hiring Hive for my home automation. We hired them to replace our ceiling speakers and was told we would be billed by the hour, the technician came in and talked for an hour before installing them. In total he changed them in about 30 minutes and was charged for two hours. Instead of the technician being honest and saying he did the work in 30 minutes he lied, this is not an honest company, and I definitely don't recommend. read more

Avoid this business. I hired them for an AV, shades, Vitrea/DMF lighting control project with a project value in excess of $100k. After more than 5 months, none of the items except the soundbar work as intended. The shades work intermittently. The lightning controls and DMF took months to get and installed and still there are missing/unfinished items and an electrical control box that is absolute mess. Jeff, the owner sells you on a vision of "making technology simple ", however, nothing is simple. Jeff promises to "make things right", but a great cost of inconvenience to me and my family living in a construction project for 5 months. The whole project was supposed to be controlled by a Bang and Olufsen BeoLiving Intelligence control that has yet to be installed and integrated. The project management has been a disaster from day one. I had to have multiple drywall repairs and painters come to repair walls and paint after the work was done at a cost of several thousand dollars to me. Save yourself lots of grief and choose another business. Update 11-21-23 The project still isn't complete. They schedule appointments then never show up. The Vitrea lighting project still isn't finished. This project is now more than a year in the making and still not done. Avoid this place at all costs. Others have had the same experience. Update 3-25-2024 The project still isn't complete. I have made multiple attempts to contact the business and they are unresponsive. It is beyond my comprehension how the business can have 5-star reviews. The reviews can only be fake. I have spoke with multiple customers and they have had the same experience. read more

Terrible service. Terrible workmanship. Unprofessional. Over promise and grossly under deliver. Motorized shades improperly installed and damaged with slight test wind. Months later still not replaced or repaired despite multiple promises by owner Jeff. Multiple technically problems and glitches with $100K+ A/V install that took literally months and multiple technicians and visits to resolve. This business is terrible. Avoid it all costs. read more

Three years after work was finished I was notified by Hive that I had to show proof that I paid them for their work. Not 1 month, not 1 year, but 3 Years later. They said their old accountant made a mess of the books and now every customer had to show they paid. So then needless to say, I found a different company. We kept having problems with our Control4 system.. when they new company came in they said the tower where the matrix and system were kept was a mess of hundreds of cords. He said if any of his employees did this he would fire them on the spot. And that HIVE had used CAT 5 ends for our CAT 7 cables. So we were not getting the reception that CAT offered and that's why our receivers were burning out so quickly. read more

Individual team members smart and well informed about the equipment they work on but unable to cross cover other products leaving the consumer with a mess!!! I agree with the review that says that hive is the epitome of overpromise/under deliver. This was a terrible execution of this project from start to finish. I am surprised at just how many things one company can get wrong. Each time they do something completely different than what was promised and then they blame the customer. I forgave them enough times, now the mistakes are just dangerous. I realize that there is a limit of good companies out there. Called last week, set an apt, Monday comes, I drive home, changing my apt, to fit in the person's day for 4pm. He never shows and I had to call him @ 5pm to find out why. Tells me he was with someone else!! He said he should have called, but didn't! The old saying is if they start off showing no respect that's what you will get with them always. Home automation is new for our family. We are 6 months in to our Hive experience and we've been very happy so far. Mike has been instrumental in getting our system up and running and has had to come out a few times for troubleshooting and add-ons and he's solved problems easily. Kenny has been fantastic will scheduling and follow through. Most recently we had our system go down for no obvious reason and within hours of reporting it they sent Mike out to address the problem and he immediately solved it. Service personnel very pleasant/knowledgable but did a poor job executing new equipment in retrofit home. Disappointed in the complete mess they left in our house ... Wires everywhere, huge boxes and materials in garage, holes in dry wall EVERYWHERE. Also, there was no training provided on various apps and equipment.
