We are beyond grateful for this hitting academy and the incredible coaches. My son is 7 years old and had really only played T-ball before coming here, but the growth we've seen in such a short time has been amazing--not just in his skills, but in his confidence and love for baseball. He absolutely loves the summer camp and the one-on-one lessons. He gets excited every single time we're on the way, especially knowing he'll get to see Coach Pete. That excitement alone speaks volumes. Thanks to the coaches, he now has a better stance, a stronger and more confident swing, and--most importantly--a real motivation to play and improve. Coach Devin and Coach Billy have been phenomenal with him: patient, encouraging, and great at meeting him at his level while still pushing him to grow. This academy has truly helped spark a passion for the game in my son, and as a parent, that means everything. We are so thankful for the time, care, and dedication these coaches put into their kids. My son attended summer camp and was really disappointed. He is a beginner. Not on a team and does not carry his own bag with equipment. He felt very out of place as everyone else was already a well established player. He didn't feel like the adults monitored things and felt pushed around by the more seasoned players. He did mention the owner was away the week he went. We paid for the after care - but he sat on bleachers not talking to anyone day after day. He asked me to share so other families can make sure their child has a good experience here and goes in with eyes open. read more

I could not have been more pleasantly surprised with my experience. I took both of my kids , ages 8 and 10, for a batting lesson and some cage time as a one off activity. After watching the coaches interact with my kids and chatting with one of the owner/operators, Pete, I knew I wanted to give this place my business. There was no pushy sales pitch, or really salesmanship at all; just people doing what they love and what they're very good at. I took my granddaughter here today for batting practice. First time at batting cage for her. Also her first time playing softball in her first year of high school. Great staff member gave helpful hints to her with visual for easy understanding. She hit 75 balls at 45 mph and 75 at 50 mph. Gave her the feel of connection with the ball and really increased her confidence. Most importantly she had fun and now wants to go again. Great job guys! read more

Hey, I never said I was the smartest Yelper! I signed up for an Elite event at the Hitting Academy in Clearwater. Thinking it was tonight, I made the 45 minute trek out there only to walk into a mostly empty building. It was at that point that I realized I was about two and a half weeks early for the event. So, rather than leave, I decided to hang for a bit and hit a couple of balls. The guys working there were cool. They didn't give me a hard time about starting at 40 mph which I guess is a good thing when there's a ten year old on deck admiring my swing. Or lack thereof. They have a few different cages and swing recording technology and a bunch of other stuff I have no use for. I was just there to knock the snot out of a couple of balls. Mission accomplished. It was a great time and I will definitely be back. At least in two and a half weeks. read more

Bought a voucher for 150 pitches on Groupon and called to see when my daughter could redeem the voucher. The man on the phone said it would be best that I come after 6. Upon my arrival I'm told the machine is broken and she can't use it. Having driven 30 minutes I told them no worries can I just pitch to her myself 150 pitches. They tell me that there is no way to track that and it will cost $40 for 30 minutes in the cage but they put my groupon voucher on "my account". We live 12 hours away so that is pretty much worthless. There might've been 3 other customers in the place at the time. Place is nice and my daughter enjoyed herself but essentially I paid $55 for 1 round in a batting cage. read more

This review is for Clearwater. My son has been to 3 camps and several lessons. I have to be honest, every time my 8 year old came home from camp he told me he wanted to return. He loves it. All the instructors are very nice and knowledgeable. Pete the Manager will work with you on a package that covers your needs . He knew we wanted to keep coming, but 169.00 a month was too much for our budget. the other day we finally decided to take the plunge and we purchased a LARGE private lesson package. It was an investment for sure, but seeing how much my son loves it and is getting from it, it was a decision well made! Highly recommend!! Thanks Pete and team. Tampa location:The is strictly a review for the Tampa location because there is no available reviewing for that one and we have never Gone to the Clearwater location. -the facility is really clean and neat. There are about 4 or less consistent areas for private cages, that can be used for private lessons and such. -Instant video playback for quick review of your swing is available (at least with the lessons) -for additional fee, there is a tool used to critically evaluate your swing (speed, form, and such). My teen player has never used but it's available. -the staff is very professional and courteous. About 60% of them go out of their way to be helpful some are just helpful if you request help. -I've never had any issues with billing or payment, or over charges or anything. We never did a la carte use-we had a membership from the start because we researched the website and called and got more than enough information to help understand how they function and make a decision (my player has been a member since 2015) read more

DO NOT sign up for their special offers, they will rob you blind. In fine print if you don't cancel your membership 20 days out you will still be charged. Honestly, even if you cancel in time they will still charge you (in my case $160) and will not refund you one dime. The package seems like a good deal but trust me it is t worth it cause you will never get in for the full usage so your throwing money away. I even called a second time and warned them not to charge me cause i canceled my membership and wouldnt you know it they still charged me and will not refund my money. The machines constantly jam up and when they say they will credit you the amount of pitches not used, they will not it had happened twice to me. This place has the worst management ever so I beg of you, DO NOT go! I am only giving this one star simply because I have to and yes if your wondering I am filling a lawsuit for an unauthorized charge. Good luck if you ever use this place. read more

We had a team practice at The Hitting Academy this week. The facility is okay, not the biggest or best I've ever seen but nicer than your traditional outdoor token operated batting cage. The thing that annoyed me was that they don't honor the prices etc that are listed on their website. The facility apparently operates on membership contracts. If you don't have a contract then they're not concerned with you. Their website says that for a team of more than 5 players you can get two indoor cages for a total of a hour for $120. Yes, the price is kinda steep but if you split the cost amongst your parents then it's not that bad and I thought it could be something different that would be fun for the kids, a change of pace, and a potential team building exercise. However, I was informed that they wouldn't give me two cages because it would interfere with their members. Okay? So why post it on your pricing page if your not willing to honor it. I was however told that for $150 that I could get 1 indoor cage and the entire outdoor area for a hour and a half. I knew it probably wasn't worth it but why not? Again, it's for team building etc and my kids have worked hard all season. All that said, apparently the hour and half was only for the outdoor area. We still only got the indoor cage for a hour. So let me get this straight. You advertise TWO indoor cages for $120 for a hour but gave us ONE indoor cage for a hour for $150? Okay, so you gave us the outdoor area too but there are no machines out there. Plus we didn't even have it exclusively, there were other players out there all evening. The only thing the outdoor area is good for is tee work, soft toss, and L-screen batting practice. Not bad things at all but we could do that at our home ballpark for free. We came to The Hitting Academy for the indoor pitching machines. However, despite paying $150 in cash we were treated like a nuisance. It's a decent facility but we WILL NOT be going back. I'll give it an average of 2 stars, 3 stars for individuals but 1 star for teams. read more
