Parking is available along Shellbridge, but the streets completely fill up by 0830. There are also 10 or so guest spots in front of the building, but one needs to get a pass for those to park all day. Otherwise it's a 3h maximum. The "office" is really a few conference rooms, a lunch room, and a classroom for computer software training. One neat thing is that the instructor can flip between the various students' screens, so he or she doesn't actually have to actually get up and walk over. The instructor can also take over the mice and keyboards as necessary. As an added bonus, there is a coffee machine, and a small bowl of granola bars, in multiple flavours. Definitely nice, considering the courses here cost more than double than the same courses at BCIT. With that said, this place offers 5 day courses (40h instruction), while BCIT often takes 12 weeks to do the same thing. If you want to learn the specialized software quickly, it's worth the premium.

Nimbus is GREAT!!!!! Excellent program, excellent people and a lot of fun to boot…read more From my experience, the school lived up to everything they said. The small classes are great as everyone gets a chance to get their hands on the board in each class, and the teachers have time to discuss any questions you may have and to reinforce the lessons on anything you may need extra help with. All of the teachers are still working in the business outside of the school, so you not only get opportunities to work with them and bands in school, but you also get opportunities to work with them outside of school on their own projects. You start from square one, things as simple as wrapping cables and how a mic should be put onto a mic stand, and work your way up to where you will be able to record a full band then edit, mix and master what you've recorded. And not just once, you'll be working on your own projects and class projects and then helping anyone and everyone with their projects as well. If you are really keen you can pretty much just live at the school and work on your craft 24 hours per day. In addition to class time, you will have access to the studios after school that you will be scheduled for and usually you'll be able to get more than your scheduled times as some students don't fully utilize their studio times and you can scoop them up. You can also combine times with other students. At one point in time I had a weekend where I spent more than 50 hours recording bands over a weekend with a number of different people. Totally exhausted by the end but it was great! Forget about normal hours and a normal life when you sign up. You'll be in school during the times you have chosen and in studio as often as you can get in. In my mind there were only two times of day, in school or sleeping. lol I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to run (be a gopher) at a local studio when Matthew Good was recording Lights of Endangered Species (my name is in the liner credits) and was also asked to work with one of the instructors with a band called We Need Surgery that you will be hearing about in the new year. This was all during my time in school. If you're good (and the timing is right) you might even be able to go to Garth Richardson's private studio to work with bands. At the moment there are about 6 students who are rotating while he and one of the instructors work with a new band. Not something you'd get at most schools. I did check out other schools before I signed on with Nimbus, but it was only at Nimbus where you never just sit in a classroom taking notes, you are ALWAYS in a studio. Yes, there are lots of notes, you will generally spend the first hour of every class writing them down and discussing them and then jumping in to put them into action. It's a great way to learn.

If ur flying across country or world to come here you should hear both sides. Nimbus is amazing, contrary to the other review the community is absolutely amazing in fact one of the best things here! Iv instantly made a friend in everyone in my class. They are amazing sweet people and some of them have come as far as korea and argentina to come here! The teachers are amazing and iv never had the great relationship and abillity to understand my teachers as much as here at nimbus.they are always currently working also on modern day hits and know the latest.masters of their craft! The owners are also amazing top industry leaders, if you dont belive me just google there names i dobt need to fight that one, fact and a google search will do it for me. The whole second floor is NOT hierarchy.... Its a parking garage lol but the thrid floor has the hierarchy ASWELL as 2 studios a live room an isolation booth and a room for the 24hour techs to help you with most equipment needs. Studio time is not a rarity if u book it in advance like ur told to and many people will invite you into there sessions giving you the abillity to be in studio everynight if you so desired. Class are far from crowded at around 10 people per class mine is 8 everybody can see and learn one on one.the student body is listened to. Regarding the stament no one has left and become big sleepytom an edm artist is an alumni who has worked along side diplo and many others and is at fetsivals all over north America. There are also about 3 other big names out of nimbus but i wobt name drop as i dont know them 100% and dont wanna mess it up. As for the rest of students the aim for most of them isnt to be top edm producers its to be engineers producers and live audio and film workers. So youll never hear there name if they are at the top of there industry. Its IS very expensive but its do able i do it living on my own as 21 year old. Basically besides the price nimbus is a dream and i would highly recommend it to anyone serious about this. Clearly the other yelper was a dick if he had no friends and couldnt get in studios. If ur not like him im sure everyone will love you. I could go on forever about the pluses but i just suggest you book a tour or skype tour with somone who works there to get all the info you need.

When she reached out for help and understanding the response from Pamela was consistently dismissive, lacking both empathy and any practical solutions. She made several attempts to connect with financial department however went weeks before any sort of reply. Despite being very upfront about commuting from Vancouver Island we were reassured that this wouldn't be an issue, Blanche claimed other students had done it before. However when ferries were shut down or delays occurred- things entirely out of her control there was zero understanding or flexibility. No accommodations were made and attendance policies were rigid to the point of being punitive. This school and program operates as if students don't have lives or challenges outside of the classroom. The serious lack of compassion, poor communication, and inflexible structure make it a deeply flawed and poorly managed institution. I would NEVER recommend Blanche Macdonald to anyone - especially students who may need even the slightest amount of support.

Most students were only there to get some courses and then transfer to UBC/SFU. It had a college feel to it. It was sort of embarrassing to admit that I was attending here. Five years later the place has really grown. The psych department is amazing. More people are coming in with the intent of earning a degree instead of just 1 or 2 years. Proud to call Kwantlen my alma mater. Richmond Campus is sort of old and outdated, but it has come a long way and is under major renovations now. Every time construction happens, it improves the look and feel of the place by 200%. Surrey campus is more up to date. Even the oldest building is well-maintained. Another huge improvement is that they now have more upper level courses in Richmond. Its still not the most prestigious university, but I did a fours year degree in just over five years and it only cost about $20 000. I was making just enough to cover my tuition which means no student debt for me. You could not get that anywhere else!

The instructor (Ross) was a good speaker and teacher, and clearly passionate about photography. Just a couple of small negatives: the classroom was a bit too warm (no windows, typical of warehouse-type photo studios), and there was no advance info on lunch break times & facilities, which would be useful as the course runs from 10 AM to 5 PM. I registered for the Intermediate Digital Photography course last year, eager to follow up on the Beginner one I'd just completed at Langara, while saving a bit of money. Eager is key, because only after I hastily registered (the course was starting within a few days and I didn't want it to fill up) did I notice the course outline, which was buried in one of the drop-down menus, and saw that there would be a lot of model work, which I had no interest in. So, I called them, less than 30 minutes after registering, and explained myself, but they refused to give me a full refund. Now, the remaining amount was only $30 - something about the company they go through for visa payments - but I'd just donated $30 for half an hour of nothing, and they were completely unwilling to budge and help me out. Did they do anything wrong? No, they followed their policy, but there are always exceptions to rules, and good customer service seeks to understand the big picture, and make clients happy. In this regard, they failed miserably. Instead, they seemed to prioritize making money, and for that reason, they've lost a client for life. I've not booked with them again since, and I never will. Also, I've heard (and just looking at their course outlines by comparison) that they're nowhere near as thorough, or therefore educational, as Langara. Yes, Langara is more expensive, but you get what you pay for. I wish VPW would have made a better impression on me, but they chose to prioritize themselves over their client, and so lost out on both counts.

The staff trainers are good but they all leave after a few weeks or months. The owner will not train anybody. He may know a lot, but so what if he never teaches it. Otherwise, the standard boxing techniques are not allowed for beginner, this leaves lots of confusion as many people already have some training in proper boxing technique. It seems the Sugarrays methods are weird and outdated, not the stuff Freddie roach or Russ Anber use as basic boxing technique or almost all other boxing gyms. The owner insults members and staff in front of all making a very unfriendly space to train, trainers have to hid standard training methods, members are getting frustrated, it is too sad, as it could be a good gym if under better management. Former members sincere comments. If you really want to learn proper boxing , pay a bit more, and go to well know trainers like north Burnaby boxing, griffins, or dynamics or queens bough, or tony pep in new west. East side boxing also should be up and running soon and will likely put Sugarrays out of business or take a lot of members. Also try "Beyond Boxing in east van. The owner really needs some training in sport science at the university level and also some business management skills to boot. Otherwise, some members think the equipment is great - not really have a look at any online retailer of boxing stuff (rival , ringside, canbox, title) modern boxing gyms have more than the old standby equipment.
