What really stood out was how quickly and efficiently she resolved any issues I faced. While some of my classmates often struggled to get responses from their admissions representatives, I never had to worry because Palak was always accessible and supportive. Her dedication, responsiveness, and genuine willingness to help made a huge difference in my overall experience. I'm really glad I chose her, and I'm grateful for all the support she provided from start to finish. To everyone looking to join cdi , I highly recommend her, you won't regret your journey trust me, after service is equally important as your studies and she is best at it

I am 36 years old immigrant from the Philippines with big ambitions in life. I worked in nursing…read morefor 16 years in a Vancouver, and it has been a great career; however, my mental health made it challenging since 2013. Being jobless, homeless at some point and sick for several years, I also got into enormous debt. I was reluctant at first to apply to a college, knowing I have this debt baggages, a learning disability and mental health issues. This didn't stop me. I would never know unless I try. So I decided to venture into a different career and pursue my passion. I started to search on google about the courses school offers nowadays. I stumble upon CDI College optimized website. I found that they offer many courses and one of them is Social Media and Web Marketing, a growing industry nowadays. I send out my name and email on the website's online form. Roman Ansari, Director of Admissions emailed me, and my journey began. Roman is one of the best people I met; he is passionate about his job and has the heart to help people pursue their dreams. I am one of them. He guided me to explore my career options with great patience and proficient knowledge. He went above and beyond his duties and even encouraged me to join a women's group that has been so helpful. The finance department applied for my student loan. All the finance staff & others were very kind, patient and friendly and guided me to the step by step process. I was surprised and grateful to get the student loan and a huge grant. My course started in March 2021. This has been a life-changing opportunity for me. I could never ask for a better teacher than Ms Angie Janzen. She has been so patient and very helpful to her students. Ms Janzen makes it easy for us to absorb the daily lessons, be very emphatic, and listen to her students. This course has been extremely fun for me, and I am excited to finish this course and start a career in Digital Marketing. I am beyond thrilled that not only my expectation was met it surpassed my expectations. I am glad to take this career change with this, and I am excited to see what is in store for me. Whatever obstacles you have, every moment is a fresh beginning and it's never too late to become who you want to be. I highly recommend any aspiring students who want to pursue their dreams through education. Reach out to Roman and I know he will go above and beyond as my personal experience has been nothing but excellent. Best, Nems

To this course because I wasn't able to complete it in class at VIU (would definitely recommend…read moreVIU). The course was my last requirement for my degree and I need to complete it as soon as possible on the first assignment. I had trouble understanding the directions so I emailed the prof in May and I still have not gotten response to that (It's August now). Turns out he's on leave now, but he was extremely unprofessional and I was looking to report him when I sent an email to their "delivery support" in which I put "urgent" in the subject line, it took them two weeks to finally reply to me. When I finally got a response, they directed me to his replacement, which he replied soon after which I forward him the email that I originally sent in May to my other prof. We have sent about give or take 25 emails back-and-forth and we have gotten nowhere! He keeps giving me vague response to my questions and I still have not gotten my answer. I have completed four of the five assignments in the time it has taken me to get a response to my email from my first assignment back in May. Also, they have a mandatory exam that cost about $45 to take. I was not told of the price to take the exam before taking this course. At this point, I was so frustrated with all of open learning TRU that I just want to complete it and be done. I don't even about getting a good mark, I am just looking to pass and be done with it. Seriously, the biggest problem with open learning was the response time to my emails and quality of the responses. The only person that was slightly helpful is when I called (had to wait on hold for my entire lunch break) I got a guy who don't remember his name, but he was very helpful and told me the emails to contact and even told me to just breathe and calm down when I was expressing how anxious and frustrated I was. Seriously, he was the most helpful person at that university. This all to say I would not ever recommend open learning at Thompson River University to anyone!

I took OL courses. I am disciplined and organized so doing things on my own isn't a problem…read more The material was provided to me (with some exceptions for courses that require you to get the material yourself). The assignments and course material were quite loaded, but I'm a serious student. The problem is with many faculty members who clearly don't give enough care. I cannot speak for in-person tutoring for I didn't try it. One of them would take forever to respond to my questions or for feedback and the instructions/replies from them were too vague. I'd lose grades on things they could have told me based on my questions. That, and they barely provide much help for additional resources. They throw in an answer that can be read as "I made that content, it's clear". I failed a course for the first time in my life and I can only hope this type of instructor never finds peace in their work. Teaching is a humane job. This isn't an accounting desk to take work requests. Very unprofessional for an instructor and faculty member. There is no excuse for being this careless, even if the students are not there in person and may not be in the country. They paid for the course and are taking it for a reason. I wish they put a survey to get feedback on their OL program but it seems improvement is not their concern. It's by chance, really. Try but don't expect much assistance.

I'm still not a fan of Langara, mostly because they are so stubborn and will not have earlier…read morecontinuing evening classes or more classes offered on the weekend, making it extremely stressful and difficult for me to commute home. Also, the experience with the instructor in the first class, who didn't show up for the final exam, made the class an absolute nightmare (although Langara did right by taking our complaints seriously and giving everyone a very generous credit). And the Starbucks on campus is run by fucking morons. However, I am giving them back a star, because I was impressed with how they handled the recent school closure. On Monday April 1st, a disgruntled student* set off some incendiary devices in the school, causing the evacuation and closure of the school for two days (luckily it reopened on Wednesday April 3rd, the day I had class). It was big news, and Langara was really good with sending everyone informative emails about the incident. They updated everyone in a timely manner about the school closure and what was going on (Translink could learn from them), and even after the school was reopened, they kept everyone informed about the progress of the case, and offered students support services if needed. The emails were well written, informative, and interesting. There were quite a few emails, but it didn't feel like spam. So good job, Langara, at keeping people informed. *One of my classmates said that she had found out that the student who set off the devices had failed his chemistry class. I guess good thing he failed, otherwise the damage might have been worse.

Courses fill up with the insane amount of international students Langara hosts and you'll be lucky to have a spot in the 20's in the waitlist. Not even the worst part. Before you can actually see the course outline or how the course is etc, Langara has their 100% refund date set to just the day before all that info goes live. If on the day all the info goes live and you see that you don't like the course itself, too bad you just lost money and are now only eligible for a 70% refund. This school is the gross reality of what post secondary has become, a product only for those who can afford it and past that, only for those with the incomprehensible patience for it.
