They do offer other programs like film, culinary school and fashion design. May students who attends LaSalle College are hoping to get their PR or immigrate to Canada. The school is very secretive. I would like to say that LaSalle College in Vancouver is a diamond in the rough. I was pleasantly…read moresurprised by their Fashion Design program. LaSalle's fashion program strongest part would have to be their pattern drafting, sewing and illustration. The sewing and pattern drafting instructor is highly educated on patter drafting having apprenticed with a German patter drafter who wrote 3 books on the subject of how to make tailored garments. I believe LaSalle is the only school in Vancouver who teaches its students how to make your own blocks from scratch. Other school starts you up with pre made blocks. I came from a sewing background and still my skills in sewing improved dramatically. Other students, who had never sewn before starting the course, did amazingly well for beginners. I was blown away by our illustration instructor. She will make you improve whatever skill you have in drawing 100 times if you work hard every day. It will pay off. The campus location is great. It is right by all the downtown sky trains and the space of the school is quite nice. It's not new but the working area is big. While I was going there, all the teachers were excellent and since it's still a small school you will get a lot of one on one with all of the instructors. The school always encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities. Even though it is up to the student we are constantly hearing about fashion shows and participating at Vancouver Fashion Week. I have recently graduated in 2011 and secured a post graduate work permit. Currently, I got an interview with Cirque Du Soliel, which has always been my dream. I think LaSalle's reputation helped me get this interview because it is a logo that is recognized internationally. If I could give this place a negative star, I would!…read more I toured the culinary school with my wife Janet, as I am potentially interested in becoming a master chef (seriously, though). We arrived and we were surrounded by nerds. Oh gee, you shoulda seen the suicidal emo guy! I mean, the crowd made me feel cool and I'm just a geeky old guy. From the start you could tell that the institution was not prepared to accommodate such a large group of prospective students. The relatively boring sugar-shaping demonstration was cramped and hardly visible unless you were in the front row. There were truffles for tasting that literally made us gag. I've never tried chocolate that tasted so much like tropical vomit. The facilities were unwelcoming and did not seem as clean as competing institutions that we also toured. The introductory presentation was insincere and failed to cover crucial information such as tuition costs and teaching methodology (very little emphasis on hands-on learning). We got the vibe that the institution was a corporate machine with an intricate marketing scheme rather than a school with a true dedication to teaching culinary arts. On a more positive note, for those looking to gain experience in the business and management side of the restaurant industry, AI seems to have a strong program and good career connections(?). However, the most horrifying aspect of our tour was when I noticed that the school serves bluefin tuna on their student-run restaurant menu!!! (For your information, this is a critically endangered species -- it's like serving roasted Panda bear.) I commented to the staff about my concern over their consumption of threatened wildlife, and I was laughed at. I would say you should think carefully before supporting such a corporate machine in disguise as an educational institution. Sincerely, Earl and Janet

NEVER GO TO THIS SCHOOL!…read more You pay A LOT and the Education that you receive is CRAP! I was expecting more from this school since it cost a lot. The teachers that the school hired were assigned to teach a class they did not know anything about. I am not blaming the instructor I am blaming the system. The school hired an instructor who only knew Animation in 3D studio max. In that class, we were supposed to learn to 3D model in that program. The instructor explains to us that they told him last minute what he will be teaching at his new job. It wasn't just this 1 instructor that was hired for something they have no knowledge about. There were other teachers who were in the same situation. There are more Negative stories I have about this school but I have decided not to tell it cuz this post is already long enough. Please ! don't go to this school!

What really stood out was how quickly and efficiently she resolved any issues I faced. While some of my classmates often struggled to get responses from their admissions representatives, I never had to worry because Palak was always accessible and supportive. Her dedication, responsiveness, and genuine willingness to help made a huge difference in my overall experience. I'm really glad I chose her, and I'm grateful for all the support she provided from start to finish. To everyone looking to join cdi , I highly recommend her, you won't regret your journey trust me, after service is equally important as your studies and she is best at it

I worked in nursing…read morefor 16 years in a Vancouver, and it has been a great career; however, my mental health made it challenging since 2013. Being jobless, homeless at some point and sick for several years, I also got into enormous debt. I was reluctant at first to apply to a college, knowing I have this debt baggages, a learning disability and mental health issues. This didn't stop me. I would never know unless I try. So I decided to venture into a different career and pursue my passion. I started to search on google about the courses school offers nowadays. I stumble upon CDI College optimized website. I found that they offer many courses and one of them is Social Media and Web Marketing, a growing industry nowadays. I send out my name and email on the website's online form. Roman Ansari, Director of Admissions emailed me, and my journey began. Roman is one of the best people I met; he is passionate about his job and has the heart to help people pursue their dreams. I am one of them. He guided me to explore my career options with great patience and proficient knowledge. He went above and beyond his duties and even encouraged me to join a women's group that has been so helpful. The finance department applied for my student loan. All the finance staff & others were very kind, patient and friendly and guided me to the step by step process. I was surprised and grateful to get the student loan and a huge grant. My course started in March 2021. This has been a life-changing opportunity for me. I could never ask for a better teacher than Ms Angie Janzen. She has been so patient and very helpful to her students. Ms Janzen makes it easy for us to absorb the daily lessons, be very emphatic, and listen to her students. This course has been extremely fun for me, and I am excited to finish this course and start a career in Digital Marketing. I am beyond thrilled that not only my expectation was met it surpassed my expectations. I am glad to take this career change with this, and I am excited to see what is in store for me. Whatever obstacles you have, every moment is a fresh beginning and it's never too late to become who you want to be. I highly recommend any aspiring students who want to pursue their dreams through education. Reach out to Roman and I know he will go above and beyond as my personal experience has been nothing but excellent. Best, Nems

Although…read moreI took English as a requirement for my program, it's hard finding a right teacher for extra help. Teachers get rotated for their schedule every week; sometimes some teachers forget to record your mark into the system, or not accountable enough to keep up with grades and such. I asked for a help on English grammar (for English course), some teachers just want to keep chatting instead of helping students. There are distraction in the environment where you study with other students talking to teachers, it's SO hard to focus on studying. Not only the distractions, teachers don't seem professional enough to do their jobs. If you're independent to study on your own it's okay, otherwise I DON'T recommend. I met a few nice teachers, but they don't know how to listen to student's concerns aside from giving false hope. Besides I had to track progress by keep reminding the teachers and the coordinator always give excuses about lack of student for class-based courses. Like seriously, some teachers at VCC are so lazy and unprofessional.

Sweat-shop Operation baking Laboratory at VCC downtown campus…read moreMay 17, 2023 I attended the VCC Baking & Pastry Arts Program from Sept. 26, 2022 to Dec. 13, 2022. From the very beginning, on Sept. 29, 2022, Baking & Pastry Arts Program Instructor Lisa Ann Wagner talked to me in condescending manner and criticized me for not asking "good questions" during the Baking Theory Class from Monday to Thursday between 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. On Sept. 27, 2022, during a tour at VCC Library, I commented that the librarian looks older than his picture on the VCC website. Instructor Lisa openly called me "mean" immediately. The water with cleaning and sanitizer solutions at the two cleaning stations is very hot at about 90 degree Celsius. Both Instructor Lisa and Instructor Nichol teach Baking and Pastry Arts students to touch the tart and pie crusts to test for baking doneness. My hands develops callus in less than 6 weeks into this Baking and Pastry Arts Program. Developing callus is the way that our Godly designed body does to protect our skin. Actually, there are better ways to test the baking doneness using a toothpick or a thin long stick, instead of touching the baking products on the cooling rack not too long from coming out of the 350 degree to 400 degree Fahrenheit stack oven. The oven mitts at VCC Baking Laboratory is a very primitive square-shaped 5 mm (Mili-Meter) thick canvas type of fabric. It is challenging for me to use this type of "Baking Industry Standard" oven mitts without burning my hands and fingers. Therefore, I brought in my own domestic styled oven mitts on October 10, 2022. However, Instructor Lisa refused to allow me to use my own domestic styled oven mitts, which enclose all my fingers and the whole palm to the middle of my front arms. She insisted that I must use the "Baking Industry Standard" oven mitts. I never ever receive any support and encouragement from Instructor Lisa at all during the 11 weeks from Sept. 26, 2022 to Dec. 13, 2022. All I heard from her is - "You are too slow. You will never make it in this baking profession. Maybe this baking profession is not for you." I was astonished on Dec. 6, 2022 Tuesday afternoon while Instructor Lisa taught students in my Baking Class to dip Pretzel in Lye (Chemical cleaning agent) solution in order for the the Pretzel to look shiny and appealing to consumers. I have never been a big fan for Pretzel. From now on, I will never eat a shiny Pretzel in my life time unless I am the baker who makes and bakes it. I filed a written complaint with Student Services Arbitrator Tanny MARKS on Nov. 7, 2022 with multiple detailed emails against Instructor Lisa, with email copies to Baking and Pastry Arts Program Head Susie Findley. Susie acted presumptuously and responded by filing a Student Conduct Complaint against me, claiming without any evidence that my behavior at the baking class interrupted and interfered with other students learning, which is completely NOT True. Susie also alleged that I am extremely demanding for attention and special treatment. Both Susie and Lisa must feel deep resentment that I criticized Instructor Lisa's teaching at the Baking Class. I believe that I paid $3,000 of my hard-earned money in tuition to learn baking and pastry arts on Sept. 7, 2022, therefore I deserve, as a customer of Vancouver Community College's Educational Services, to be treated with utmost respect and sincere attention of my educational needs regarding Baking and Pastry Arts. Since I am one of thousands of students who collectively pay for the salary and employment benefits to these Vancouver Community College employees, I have the right to demand these VCC employees to make efforts to meet my unique educational needs. After talking to Dave Stevenson at Student Judicial Officer on Nov. 15, 2022, I again requested a more protective oven mitts from Susie Findley by email through Dave. Susie delivered the more protective oven mitts to Lisa at baking laboratory #201 on Nov. 22, 2022 Tuesday. However, Lisa chose to withhold this protective oven mitts from me by not telling me about it at all. A few days later, I talked to Dave about when I can get this protective oven mitts. He told me that Susie has already been delivered to my baking laboratory #201. Therefore, I verbally asked Lisa for it on Dec. 1, 2022 Thursday after baking theory class. She said, "It is in the Dry Cabinet. But it is for the whole baking class though." Apparently, Lisa had made a conscious choice to withhold and delay the delivery of this protective oven mitts to me, while she claimed that this protective oven mitts is "for the whole class". As a matter of fact, nobody else in my baking class asks for a more protective oven mitts except me. I am the only student who has made substantial efforts to request it. Lisa's behavior demonstrates her reluctance to accommodate my requests and her attempt not make me feel "special" or give me any "special treatment". A rip-off to my $3,000 tuition!
