We got to tour the fitness center, gymnasium and pool area. Then took a leisurely walk around the campus to see the different buildings - Fine Arts building, the Library, Residence Halls, Science Building, and the Viking Union. All were closed since it was a Sunday, but still enjoyed walking around to see the layout and creative structures and different building locations. I fell for it and it costed me. I truly believed that when another student told my professor that I felt suicidal, that I would be helped. Instead my tuition was wasted. I was told to enroll in courses that had no site placement. Then when I asked my professor about the shared concern from my classmate regarding how I felt suicidal, she gaslighted me. She forgot that my classmate said I felt suicidal. Mind you, my classmate shared this information without my permission. We had a three hour meeting after class that I can't believe she forgot... I thought I'd be supported but instead I was ignored for the rest of the year due to the courses that did not exist. I was then suddenly removed from my program because I was told I was not ready for my final quarter. I would have been ready if I actually had learned what the missing courses failed to provide due to not existing at all. All of my classmates noticed how I was treated, but nothing was ever done to help me, because then the school year ended and everyone graduated. The program I was in had high suicide and mental health stats, which I learned after I graduated. In hindsight, the pressures of how challenging the program is was a huge source of stress, which was basically mocked at the front door, during orientation. Do not expect this university to actually care about you as a person. You only seem to matter if you can contribute financially, but otherwise, you're completely on your own. Other things happened too. I'm not sure why there weren't better actions in place. After my sudden program removal, I was actually preyed on by a student who took advantage of me and raped me. And if that wasn't enough insult to injury, I never used my college degree for anything because my credentials were incomplete and all my financial aid ran out, even though I had a full ride, which was all wasted and never reimbursed, when I wasn't provided courses. This was all extremely painful for me to go through and i would argue that I never deserved what happened to me. I hope that this isn't the standard for how this university treats students who feel suicidal. Before my classmate shared anything about suicide, no professors could tell. So I felt exposed and then discarded. This was so brutal and unexpected at the end of college. My life has not been the same since. There are better colleges that won't make you go through what I went through. WWU is a high risk and a gamble in my honest opinion. You don't get a nice college name in the end. This school's architecture is simple, modern, and gorgeous. I felt like I was in Noah's Ark with all the intricate stacks of "wood" placed on the top ceiling. The shape and angle of the floor were pretty sexy and it felt more like a upscale office building rather than a school. Everything felt NEW and inviting. Before my SFU friend left for class, he said there was a mall around the corner from the entrance. WAIT WHAT? A MALL? Yes, indeed, there is a freakin' mall in this school. I thought it was quite hilarious that the first store you see on the left is a liquor store. I killed some time walking around the mall and using the wifi in their food court. I never went into a classroom so I can't really go over that but one thing that really gave this place an extra star for me was their SFU TouchMap located at the entrance. WOW this is totally nuts. The TouchMap is an epic interactive touch-screen map for the school, with individual classroom descriptions and locations on each level. Mad props to the design and programming team who made this! SFU Surrey is a pretty neat campus for who people who love modern design and cool beans interactive maps.

TERRIBLE rip off I enrolled in Surrey college for the unit…read moreclerk program in 2008 it was the biggest mistake of my entire young life the instructor for the unit clerk program was just a unit clerk I don't know what qualification she had to even administer this course it was about $5000 and their admissions team set everything up for me with BC student loans so I just signed on the dotted line when I started my course everything was so hectic and we had 27 girls in our class some had just graduated high school others came from professional jobs in other countries to make a Long story short within a few months of starting this program the class had dwindled down to only three students all of the other students had been removed from the class with prejudice just because the instructor did not like them they had even excepted students who knew absolutely no English so nobody got a refund they basically scammed 24 people out of thousands of dollars for no reason they need to be shut down and I see that they only offer three programs as of 2015 they must have made a lot of people very angry by offering the course letting them in taking their money and just kicking them out. It is very very upsetting. I have the transcripts myself to prove how well I was doing before the instructor pulled me aside and told me I wasnt going to 'make it' and should just leave. After I was resistant she just failed me. It was completely 100% unethical to The point that I did create a big fuss about it but never gained anything from it I still know several people from That course and it really messed up their lives now having the student loan debt for nothing. why didn't the school just deny the application because their English was too little or they weren't considered too young or they could've used any excuse but they didn't care they just wanted their money. What I don't understand why they would even let someone in to that program if they didn't think they could do the course at all. There were women in the course who had been pharacists in India, one a 50 year old legal assistant, all tossed aside because of there lack of english or mainly the instructor claimed these girls shouldnt be in this course at all because they were 'too young' or 'would never be able to be a unit clerk' based on the instructors personal judgements. is just not fair and was a huge waste of everyones time and money. I did complain to the PCTIA. I should have known better when I walked into the 'college' it was held in a makeshift trailer. Thanks for listening to me and Please I wouldnt wish my worst enemy to this pathetic unrecognized unprofessional place. It ruined my life. Now I work as an office assistant truly regretting the thousands of dollars I have to pay back for nothing. It also ate up all our self esteem. Because of the delayed response I didn't get in to the program I wanted and have to wait an entire year if I want to do this program. Then they told me they had a spot for me and then that spot vanished. Additionally it also delayed me from trying to get enrolled elsewhere and i ended up being waitlisted at a different institution. I'm not sure if I trust them with my education in the future, they don't seem to pay very close attention to thier email and I'm not sure if they'd even know I'm interested in going to thier school. Good luck getting in here they seem disorganized and I imagine that is reflected in the education they provide.
