These asshats didn't respond to my email for nearly 3 weeks about enrolling in one of thier programs. Because of the delayed response I didn't get in to the program I wanted and have to wait an entire year if I want to do this program. Then they told me they had a spot for me and then that spot vanished. Additionally it also delayed me from trying to get enrolled elsewhere and i ended up being waitlisted at a different institution. I'm not sure if I trust them with my education in the future, they don't seem to pay very close attention to thier email and I'm not sure if they'd even know I'm interested in going to thier school. Good luck getting in here they seem disorganized and I imagine that is reflected in the education they provide. read more

Really awesome place to go for a preventative dental checkup. Very thorough! Although a bit time consuming, it's worth the wait for the appointment, and it's worth taking the extra in-office time. What a bargain! And super friendly students and staff. The dental office is located in Building C. I started at Bellingham Technical College with a true excitement for my program, and it persisted happily throughout my two years there. I was in the Culinary program and had about 4 professors and I honestly loved all of them. I always felt like my professors really cared about my education and my understanding of the material. I learned an immense amount durring my time there and was exposed to some of the best materials and equipment I could have found anywhere. I am extremely proud of my education and it helped me get into my current career. I thank them constantly. The financial aid department really messed something up for me but they were great in getting it cleared up. My dislikes? The administrative system is kinda awful, they messed up after I graduated and still haven't gotten me my diploma yet for my degree rather they gave me a certificate for a much shorter program... not cool. read more

Back in 2008 I completed the pre requisite classes for the registered nursing program at Bellingham Technical College by way of student loans in the amount of $12,000. My name went on a waiting list for the 2 year nursing program after which I would be able to take the state exam and become a registered nurse. I waited on the list until 2010 where an act of law provided unemployment with priority for out of work individuals who had been on unemployment for long periods of time. In other words, I got moved off the list to allow those in need to go to into the program ahead of me that I had worked so hard to achieve. The $12,000 I borrowed went straight into debt and I was offered part time night classes in mid 2011 which was another year to wait from that time. This injustice and loan scam has injured my life to this very day. I don't have words for the immoral way in which I was treated by this college. The education system is supposed to be based on personal achievement and merit but in 2010 Bellingham Technical College became a social welfare program for disenfranchised people, some of which where most likely non citizens of this country and didn't have to pay back loans as I was expected to. I am now unable to go back to school because of the loans that defaulted because I was not able to utilize the otherwise decent education that I worked 2 years for while unemployed people sat around telling their sob stories to aloof social workers who have no place on any educational faculty. read more

My daughter Kennedy is doing the Culinary Program thru Running start. This is her first year and I believe that she is the only 16 year old. I have been incredibly impressed with all of the Chef's and the program in general. The Chef's are tough but patient and it is obvious that they care about the students and want to see them succeed. I have seen nothing but positive come out of her experience. Just being in the Culinary Program at BTC has already opened up doors for employment. She starts a job next week using her learned skills. I doubt that they would have hired a 17 yr. old without the the status of this well respected Culinary Program. This program has a very positive reputation in our State as being one of THE BEST! These Chef's have had many Culinary Students graduate and go on to study under some of the greatest Chef's in the World. You need a to have studied under some of the VERY best in order to have those opportunities. BTC is very fortunate to have Chef's/teachers of this calibre. I am not Bias. I am rating BTC and the Culinary program based on both my daughter and my experience... 5 star!!!! ( there is always room for improvement, I am simply struggling to find any...) I would just like to say that I have been attending Bellingham Technical College for almost 2 years now (I graduate in 11 weeks!), and I have nothing bad to say about this place, or the people that work here! Sure, there may be some things that could be changed a little here and there, but the most important factor, that being the education you will receive in the end, IS UN-COMPARABLE! The Culinary program is in the TOP TEN in the NATION! (They have the awards to prove it) Welding: taught by an Artistic Guru! Nursing: Superb! Automotive Programs: Excellent! And, the man in charge of the Instrumentation Program, Tony, is proclaimed as a "Genius" in his field (and Electronics in general), and is referenced on blogs World-wide! And, the Electronics Program that is taught here.....well, let me tell you my story. I found this little "Best Kept Secret" of a school after life kind of "pulled the rug out from under me" (work injury), and I could no longer do what I enjoyed and was paying the bills. I was in Puyallup at the time, and searched a lot of schools for something that would interest me, I was capable of doing long-term, and something that I could afford. Through a "friend of a friend" who had graduated from here, I learned about "a quiet little school in Bellingham, with such great programs!" I looked into it, and was blown-away by what they offer here! I could go on, but there is just too much to talk about. I chose Electronic Engineering Technician as my program, and I am so glad that I did!! My two main instructors Sam and Peter both have a lifetime of incredible Electronics experience working for some of the Pioneers in the computer and technology industry. The hands on experience you receive here is something that I'm sure will be hard to beat. I don't just learn circuits, I design and build "Real Life Application" projects! They teach you how to "Code" micro-controllers, but not just one type, 3 different types in all, 2 of which, are current Industry Standard. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about, the little "chip" in your phone, the "brain" in your car, the device that enables you to make a robot pick your order at Amazon, and enables a company like Tesla to make self-driving cars possible. Yeh, they teach that! In fact, my Capstone Project is to build a solar-powered, electric car that is self-charging, and possibly self-driving, if time permits. Right now, I'm in the middle of soldering solar cells, working with fuel cells, programming micro-controllers for wireless communication, building digital-to-analog encoder-decoder circuits for fiber-optic data transmission, and will be starting Robotics in about two weeks. BRING IT! Do I love this place? YES! Are the Instructors "Top Notch"? No, I would say that they are ONE STEP ABOVE THAT! Seriously! I feel like I just learned 4 or 5 years worth of Electronics Engineering at M.I.T. , but I only had to pay for two years here at BTC! BTW, I think this school is very affordable, especially compared to a 4-year college. Everything I'm learning is relevant to securing a great paying job after two years, and nothing else. From the time you see Brijean's welcoming smile to greet you in the Admission's office, to the knowledge and friendships you will take with you when you graduate, you won't be disappointed! Just a note to Emily (the girl that had a bad experience here)- I'm sorry things did not go well for you! Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Ordered 3 course tasting menu. Tempura spot prawns to start. The tempura was "spot on" Perfect texture and execution, crispy and light. Sauce was fresh and bright. Maple cured pork chop was well flavored, especially with the rhubarb compote. Tasty pork and not overly spiced so the meat could take center stage. Goat cheese mashed potatoes average, didn't really add to the meal except for the textural contrast, same for the summer squash noodles. The dessert was a partial fail. The churros with the crime brûlée were fine, nothing exceptional. Same for chocolate sauce, somewhat bland. For a simple sauce to stand out, the chocolate flavor should be strong and have some depth not just "chocolate" for example fruity, smoky etc. The crime brûlée had a soggy top, no crisp breakthrough to the custard below which had warmed didn't hold together well, and not particularly rich. I had the drink special which was a guava spritzer and it was refreshing and pleasant. Service was attentive and professional.
