My fiancée and I got our engagement shoot done with Anthony and we were blown away by how professional and easy to work with he was. It was threatening to storm all week, and we were concerned that the weather wouldn't turn out well. Anthony was great about possibly working around the rain schedule, promised to get in touch with me day of for a weather check, and followed up 3 hours before the shoot to confirm. We also felt very comfortable getting our shoot taken, and were able to relax and have fun while still getting some awesome shots. Anthony gave us direction, but didn't "stage" us in a way that seems unnatural. Price was much less than we expected to pay. The pictures they took of our wedding are incredible. They are true artists! Photojournalistic, technically gorgeous, and with real-life, classic post-production. H & S capture the emotion, moments, details, and moments that you will treasure for the rest of your life. We couldn't have had nicer people walking along side us and capturing our big day. Hitch & Sparrow did our wedding photos in September of 2012 and they were amazing! They are very organized and have a very clear process they take their clients through--from an initial meeting that's friendly, fun, and efficient, to clearly written contracts to final delivery of files when expected. There's no guess work, you know exactly what to expect! During the wedding itself, I cannot say enough how amazing it was to have them! They are SO nice and funny without being overwhelming or getting in the way. They are super professional and courteous. I was having a hair nightmare when they came before the wedding, but they showed up and were just so relaxed and great to everyone, that I could definitely breathe easier once they were there (right on time and, meanwhile, my hair was fixed! When they sent us the proofs, we were amazed at how spot on their exposures were--the photos looked like they could have *almost* been finals. These guys really know what they are doing and get it right. Then, when we got our finals, we were again amazed at beautiful everything was. They were not overly edited, plasticy, trendy-looking bridal photos that seem to regrettably be everywhere these days. ALL of the photos were just the quality of everything H & S publishes and leads you to expect. EACH photo they created of our wedding day is a portal to re-seeing a deeply meaningful moment. What an amazing thing to have these for the rest of our life, and from such wonderful people who only added good memories along to what was already the happiest day of our lives. I like to think of myself as a pretty low maintenance bride, but I knew the photography was going to be especially important, so I made a lot more effort to find just the right match for us. It's easy to forget, but your photographer is the vendor you spend the most time with on your wedding day so you better like them! Hitch & Sparrow was a terrific match for us from the start. Anthony met with us to talk about their approach and answer all our questions. I initially contacted them because their portfolio is gorgeous and just our style (not cliche and cookie-cutter like a lot of wedding photographers). What sealed the deal was how easy-going and likeable Anthony is. We had a bit of a non-traditional wedding - no wedding party, no church, ceremony and reception in one room of a restaurant, no cake cutting, no first dance, only 50 people - and we wanted to find someone who would be cool with our way of approaching the wedding. We were also a little nervous because my husband and I are both pretty shy in front of a camera, but Anthony made a real effort to make the whole experience comfortable, not at all stressful, and tailored to the two of us. It was like having a friend take our pictures - a really talented friend. Our whole wedding day was even more wonderful because of Hitch & Sparrow. In addition to the amazing first look and pre-ceremony photos, we got some terrific family portraits and candids from the ceremony and reception. We also got the photo booth for the reception, and everyone had a blast posing for pictures - it was the perfect addition to the night. I can't get over how stunning our wedding photos are. Anthony and Brad captured such intimate moments that we'll have forever. We got married at the Nature Museum on August 23, and we had horrible weather that day. I had it in my head that we would have our first look photos and bridal party pictures by the lake and in lincoln park, and was really worried that we wouldn't have good photos because of the rain. I couldn't have been more wrong. Anthony and Brad have such a good eye and are so creative, that our pictures in Hotel Lincoln turned out beautifully. They also took a ridiculous shot of us under an umbrella together that we had no idea they took that looks straight out of a magazine. We had the most gorgeous sunset later on, so we snuck off and took photos outside and have the most incredible photos. Their flexibility that night was so appreciated. Choosing a photographer was one of the hardest parts of the planning process for us, but their style really stood out. We met Anthony at Indie Wed, and my husband was really impressed with the way they custom light every shot. We did our engagement photos with Anthony too, which I highly recommend doing as a way to feel more comfortable with them on the wedding day. They were both so fun to work with on the wedding day, which is so important because you share such intimate moments with them! I had the pleasure of working with Anthony and Brad when I stood up in my best friend's wedding last summer. The pair together...just awesome...and I realized I could not not work with them. Demand for these guys has gone way up, so I was glad we could at least snag Brad for our big day, who along with his wife, Nicole, and professional friend, Chloe, brilliantly led a group of 20 bridal party members through an enjoyable process. My wife and I were married at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, and we did not expect all of the mosquitos on that July 19th, 2014. It could have been easy to say "to hell with this, we've got enough, let's get back to shelter!" Brad and the team, however, made us feel at ease and encouraged us to keep going until they had everything we needed. These guys are truly MVPs of their craft, and you can count on them to quarterback any type of wedding. They are great listeners and willing to provide consultation throughout the wedding process. Hitch & Sparrow captured our wedding beautifully with hundreds of gorgeous photos. We wanted a photographer who would take not only the typical posed family photos but also a lot of candid pictures of the ceremony, the reception, the guests, the garden venue, and us. H&S did all that, and more, finding the best backdrops and the most gorgeous light and setting up both fun and more romantic poses. Anthony respected our wishes to spend less time on posed photos during the reception (we wanted to dance!) and getting those in before the ceremony. H&S was flexible and accommodating, while making sure to photograph all the important (as well as the more subtle) moments. I can't recommend them more! read more

First and foremost, Hitch and Sparrow were awesome to work with. They were fun, conscientious, and did everything they could to make the photo process as hassle-free as possible on our wedding day. From our first phone call with Anthony to discuss our "vision for the day", he made it about us. He didn't try to sell us on the prettiest place to shoot engagement photos, try to upsell us on a bigger package or convince us of how artistic they would look. He focused on getting to know who we were as a couple, why we complimented each other, and how/where he could best capture a reflection of our relationship. We took our engagement photos at a coffee shop (Bang! Bang! Pie Shop) in Logan Square and an ice rink in Wicker Park when it was below zero degrees, but Anthony still found a way to make it fun. We had an awesome time doing the things we enjoyed as a couple and got some great photos to commemorate it. The day of our wedding was more of the same. Anthony and Brad showed up right on time, had worked with us to develop a realistic timeline to make sure we didn't feel too rushed or fall behind schedule and were upbeat and positive the entire day. The pictures turned out great and the bridal party all had a good time leading up to the wedding. Hitch & Sparrow captured some hilarious photos both on the dance floor and beforehand to compliment all the beautiful pictures of the entire day. Finally, I should mention that they were very understanding when it came to pricing. They have a rate they charge (which they are easily worth), but understand that sometimes you need a little flexibility on timelines or total # of photos and they were willing to negotiate if everyone felt like it was mutually a good fit. We couldn't have been happier to have worked with Hitch & Sparrow and would highly recommend using them as your wedding photographer. read more

I do not highly recommend Hitch & Sparrow for your wedding. I know this is contrary to the other reviews you might see but we did not have the best experience with Anthony. I am giving him two stars because while the photographs we received are beautiful, I found Anthony to be difficult to work with and an all-around unprofessional business person. Here are my reasons: 1) My wife and I booked Hitch & Sparrow a full year in advance of our wedding. Two months before the wedding the main photographer, Anthony, informed us he would be leaving our wedding early because he had to catch a plane to get to his next gig the following day. He said he would compensate us by having his partner and another photographer replace him for the reception even though we had never seen their work. When we expressed that we were hesitant about this arrangement, Anthony seemed surprised that we would feel this way, and explained multiple times how he came to this decision, but did not seem to think we would be so effected by it. Since we were only two months out from the date and had already given him our deposit we really had no choice but to go along with his plan. Later when we expressed concern about our photos (see #3), he reminded us that we had more photographers present than we paid for, conveniently forgetting that this was his doing. 2) Our wedding was one hour and 30 minutes from Chicago. The ceremony started at around 5:30 PM and we arranged for Anthony to arrive at the salon at noon to start taking photos. Despite the close proximity of the venue to Chicago, Anthony insisted we pay for lodging for his crew and himself the night before the wedding so they could "scout locations" even though the wedding and all of the pictures took place at one location. We saw them for about 10 minutes the day before the wedding as they walked around the venue. He was inflexible in his insistence for paid lodging the night before. Again, zero compromise. 3) While his pictures are beautiful, his scope of photographs a wedding party, their friends and family would want is either limited or must be made very explicit. In our proofs the photographs ended after the first dance. Had we known half of our guests wouldn't be in a single picture, we would have had precise discussions our goals and the amount of time for which we had them booked. Anthony maintains the limited number of photographs of our guests is our fault because we didn't tell him we wanted those shots. We thought that desire might be obvious. This might also have to do with the fact that Anthony wasn't at our reception, it was shot by his replacement because, as I mentioned earlier, he left early. 4) Anthony is not the best communicator and we felt that he did not responded well to issues or problems we had with his service. The only time Anthony got back to us in under a week was when I wrote him to tell him that he would be getting poor reviews from me. When we raised issues with Anthony about the quality of his service, he consistently responded with meandering replies filled with passive aggressive statements which sought to turn the blame back on us for our issues (see #3). He will do nothing to compensate you for issues that are completely out of your control (see #1) and will continue in the direction he was previously headed anyway. I will say that Anthony does not compromise and that can be a good attribute but maybe not in customer service. Please keep these issues in mind while working with Anthony and Hitch & Sparrow. These were not the only problems we had with Hitch & Sparrow but just a few examples to highlight general themes with which we took issue. I was extremely disappointed our time with him turned sour. He has received such positive reviews and I am still trying to figure out why he was so difficult for us. read more

I can't say enough good things about Anthony and Hitch & Sparrow! We hired Anthony for our July 11th wedding at St. Michael's in Old Town and The Drake Hotel. From our first meeting at a coffee shop in Logan Square, to our final pictures inside The Drake, it was a dream come true. Seriously- Anthony is the man! When we first met he talked about how the most important thing on your wedding day is capturing the story of your marriage- cue the tears! I was sold. Anthony worked with us closely leading up to the wedding, make sure he understood exactly what we wanted day of. On the day of the wedding, he captured everything that was going on without me even realizing he and his wife were there! He captured amazing shots of us during our ceremony, our trolley ride, and our reception. The Hitch and Sparrow photo booth during the reception was also a huge hit! Our friends are STILL talking about how much fun they had taking pictures with the props they brought. After the wedding, when we got the proofs, I cried a lot of happy tears. I had no idea a day could be captured so perfectly. I can't say put into words how happy I am that we made the decision to go with Hitch and Sparrow! read more
