    1 hour horseride with Buck
    Jennifer B.

What an amazing experience! We signed up for the hour trailride and it ended up being just the two of us with the FANTASTIC guide Buck! He was a blast. Told us great stories, made us feel safe, and even the most socially awkward of the two of us was comfortable and had a blast. He even was there on his son's birthday to make sure we had a great trip! We even got to meet a 3 week old colt. Buck went above and beyond to make this such a special memory for us. THANK YOU BUCK. If you want the best experience in the West, check it out!

This is our first time visiting the Flagstaff area and the first time my 6 year old has done a trail ride. He loved it! We all loved it! It was a beautiful ride through a nicely wooded area with such calm, beautiful horses. It was peaceful and extremely enjoyable. The two wranglers that took us out on our ride, Mary and Kaylie (sorry if I spelled the name wrong!) were awesome. They provided info on the area and recommended other places to check out during our trip and really did a great job at leading our two younger kiddos on their horses. We all had so much fun. We are picky about good service and I highly recommend this place!

We had a great time on our afternoon 1-hr trail ride for our little family...Sarah was our trail guide...the horses are obviously well cared for, experienced, and quite tame. We would recommend this to friends, family and anyone who ask

This was such a fabulous opportunity for our kids. We were able to go on a beautiful trail ride with our guide Mary today 4/16/21. We are so very grateful for the kindness and understanding that goes along with horseback riding. They were some hiccups with our scheduling, but the staff was able to make us feel comfortable and cared for. Happy to know that this establishment is right here in our backyard.

We booked a family trail ride for 6 of us and it did not disappoint! The trails through the forest are beautiful!Sydney was our tour guide and was so friendly and made our ride fun. My daughter started to feel sick on the ride and Sydney took great care of her while keeping us all safe on our horses. They called the Forest Fire Chief/paramedic and the owner and another employee came to pick us up because my daughter couldn't ride any further. They were very caring and went above and beyond!

Today we drove up from Phoenix just for a Christmas sleigh ride. After tracking the weather all week we decided to go for it, snow or not. We were truly blessed with lots of snow on the ground and lightly falling while we were out. Sounds perfect, yes? Well, it was! Not just for the weather and surroundings, but Chris and Cody made it so much fun. We had 5 of our 8 kids with us, and they fit right in. Joking and laughing with us the whole time. If you're considering the sleigh ride this winter, don't hesitate, it was great fun. Thanks guys (and Courtney too). We wish you all the best with what's ahead of you.....Merry Christmas !!

Fantastic experience. A winter wonderland sleigh ride and rustic atmosphere stark dinner. The staff was amazingly friendly and polite. Love this place. Hoping to return this summer for a trail ride.

We had the most magical horseback ride at this ranch. Our horses peed, pooped and stumbled on things. What an adventure in nature.

This secluded horse ranch is a crowd jewel for the city of Flagstaff. We discovered it on Mother's Day and decided to go for an hour ride. When we got there we were surprised as how quiet it is and how it's completely in the nature that is just off major city roads. Our host a young couple were so pleasant and took such good care of us. Our guild AJ is a real cowboy and I can't say that was kind of a surprise for us. We went on this one hour ride and it was full of surprises. Our horses peed, pooped and stumbled on things. My kids age 5 and 7 both were quite natural controlling their horses. Me an armature felt the ride was easy enough yet adventurous. Highly recommended family and group activity while in Flagstaff.

We went here with our entire family for a sleigh ride last year. We tried to make a reservation here again this year and somehow ended up and an awful place. We were so disappointed and told everyone there how wonderful your stables are. With the sleigh ride we rode out through the forest for a long time to a amazing camp with cowboys with hot chocolate, cider and wonderful photo ops. We had one of the photos made into a big canvas for our mother. Thank you!

I love this place! My husband and I came here for our 1st wedding anniversary and it was so much fun. It's $55 per hour per rider so it's an expensive activity but I thought it was well worth it. The horses are very calm and friendly! They're a joy to hang out with. The dogs on the property are also very sweet and friendly. The trail guides and everyone who works there are awesome! They are so fun and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place for your horseback riding needs. Don't forget to tip!

My family and I went here for the pumpkin patch event. It was so nice and the people were so friendly. We had a great time, the petting zoo was so fun. My kids loved seeing all the animals. The hayride was awesome. They had horses pulling it which was so cool, I had never had that before. This was a very cool experience

We went on the 2 hour horseback ride and it was wonderful! Nobody else had booked that tour That afternoon so my boyfriend and I ended up having a private tour and it was truly amazing! Everyone at the Stables was very nice!

Hi there. We were hoping for a horseback ride after the 4th of July. I can't find any recent posts and the website doesn't appear to be updated. Are y'all operational in July?

I will admit I am not much of a hiker, and still a week later am not necessarily walking the same as I did before I went on this trip, but I will also say that it was worth EVERY second of it. Havasupai Falls alone is enough to make the trip worth it with it's beautiful water falls and pristine scenery, but going on the trip with Walkabout made it 100 times better. Included in the price of the trip is transportation, pack mules to carry your stuff in and out so you don't have a heavy pack on your back, all camping fees and equipment and gourmet meals for the 3 days you are there. Who would have thought we would be fed Salmon, Chicken Fajitas and Chocolate chip pancakes at the bottom of a canyon!! The two guides who took us on the trip were so patient and kind and pushed me limits I never thought I could go. It is nice to know that next time I go to Havasupai with Walkabout, they give you the option of taking a helicopter or horse ride in or out of the canyon!! I am glad I hiked it the first time, but in the future the horseback riding looks fun as well. Overall it was a fantastic trip and I would recommend it anyone and everyone looking for something different, exciting, SO MUCH FUN!!!!

I booked a ride with my mother in law, who had no riding experience. Saara was very attentive with her to ensure she had the proper riding form and felt safe in the saddle. By the end, she was a completely different rider with Saara's help. I grew up riding, so Saara let me take the lead for much of the trail and we went at the pace we dictated. She was taking photos of us throughout and send them promptly at the end of the ride. The trails she selects have magnificent views, and you truly get to ride--not like sitting in a horse caravan with a line of riders at the big riding places. Her horses are clearly happy and well cared for, and they are alert and fun to ride. Again, nothing like the big places with worn down, overworked horses that hate what they're doing day in and day out. So glad we chose the Hat Ranch, as it suits our outdoor style to a "T". The directions in were very easy to follow, and our Toyota Tacoma picked up a beautiful red patina of Arizona dust. Sharon, our host, greeted us at the main house and then escorted us to our quarters. As this was our first time here, she took extra time explaining all about our stay, which included a home cooked breakfast today. You can Google the Historic Hat Ranch for all the cool details, but suffice to say there are some very presidentially mended fences here on the expansive 2,800 acres. Our room was very nice, twin beds and a nicely appointed bathroom. Also a spacious deck to view the open Ranch space. We opened the windows and breathed in the fresh air...scented with juniper and noble fir trees right out our door. We didn't see any, but Sharon told us Elk frequented the area often. Many other wild creatures to see too, including javelinas. The baby colt on the way in made my wife's day, and he quickly posed for some pictures and romped away. This has been a perfect cherry on the top of our anniversary Sunday. If you love the outdoors and crave a rustic Ranch experience with warm hospitality, the Hat Ranch is the place for you.
