We couldn't recommend Saara more! We just spent New Years 2018-19 in Sedona and having previously ridden with M Diamond Ranch (also a good experience, but very different from Saara's rides), we wanted to try something new. We met Saara at the trailhead about 20 minutes west of downtown Sedona. Right off the bat, she was an absolute pleasure to chat with. Our horses were Doodle Bug and Easy. What's so great about Saara's rides is that she does this only once or twice a week and each time with different horses, so the horses don't get sick of walking the same old trail over and over like other horseback riding places. Furthermore, the trail was gorgeous. It's a little outside of Sedona, but it's still in the red rocks with great views looking out over Sedona. The trail is also not boring. I was surprised by how steep and rocky it was in places (I mean this in a good way -- I felt safe the whole time)...I would have hiked this trail! We rode for about 1.5-2 hours and enjoyed conversing with Saara the whole time, who often stopped to take great pictures of us with Sedona in the background. Overall, this was an excellent experience and worth the extra money you might spend -- especially because it's just you and Saara! We also got to canter at the end. Our experience could not have possibly been any better! Communication from the start was reliable and friendly, which was important since we were only driving up to Sedona for the horseback riding. It was mostly done my email and text because she lives in a spotty service area. We had clear directions and upon our arrival everything was prepped and ready. Saara's genuine personality, knowledge and care for her horses immediately made us feel comfortable. After a few questions, my wife and I were very confident in Saara as our guide. With it being just the two of us scheduled, we didn't have to wait for anyone else or be in a long line with other people. The trail she took us on was a "10". Due to the water runoff, we explored through creeks as the horses enjoyed stopping in the water which made for great pics. We saw some wildlife including mule deer but never crossed paths with anyone else on our trail which was about as scenic as u would hope for being in the red rocks. Saara was great to talk to which made it enjoyable but, she also let us go on ahead just enough to feel like we could savor some moments together. Saara and her horses are simply awesome. This is the first time I've personally had a horseback riding outfitter come and meet me somewhere with the horses and do a private ride ~ that's just the way she does it and it didn't matter that it was just me. It was perfect. That by itself was great. However, additionally, Saara is open, welcoming, and fun to ride with. Her horses are sweet, responsive, well taken after and have good personalities. They have a pasture at home to enjoy and a herd to be a part of. She cares about them, and she also cares very much that my ride and journey was great. She considered many little details and she made it an experience, not just a trail ride. And the views were beautiful. I look forward to my next ride with Saara and definitely would recommend her to anyone wanting a great ride, whether you live in the area (and love horses or want to be around them) or are visiting! I contacted Saara after seeing her stellar reviews, and I knew that what she offers was just the experience my wife and I were looking for-personal attention and a ride with just the two of us. She took us out for a 2+ hour ride in Red Rock State park-absolutely breathtaking scenery! The horses were gentle--Doodlebug and Thumper -- and very well behaved. It was quite comical to see her drive up with the horse trailer and see the 3 horses with their heads sticking out the windows--just like big friendly dogs! We brought along some apples and carrots as snacks, the horses were very appreciative! After getting our saddles and stirrups adjusted we were off--Saara is a terrific guide, explaining to us East Coasters what we were seeing, we even stopped to sample some prickly pear cactus fruit! She takes all levels of experience, and matches the horses with the riders. It was definitely a highlight of the trip -- we can't wait to go back! read more

When we planned our visit to Sedona, I went looking for a "real" horse experience and was lucky to come across Saara (Horse Affinity). My daughter and I trail ride on our own horses in CA and I didn't want a nose-to-tail, 8-15 person ride; it was just the three of us, a beautiful morning in Red Rock State Park, and Saara's fantastic horses. Our two, Doodlebug and Thumper proved to be, not only gentle and steady enough for a beginner, but also willing and able to give us some 'get up go' when we wanted. They were just a reflection of Saara. Good natured and caring, she was wonderful; from the time I contacted her to the end of the ride. She meets you ready to go; hop on your sure-footed horse and start riding to the top of a hillside with incredible views of the Sedona area. Skip the noise and bumps of the Pink Jeep! Fabulous day with Saara riding trails in beautiful Red Rock! What a sincere, genuine person who exudes love for her horses and the natural beauty of the area. This was much more like going for a ride with a good friend who happens to be born and raised on horses and loves to share that knowledge than like a typical, less personal tour you normally get. We were both beginners although I had some childhood experience and Saara did an amazing job of teaching us the basics of riding so we felt comfortable and could have some fun with her wonderful animals. If you get a chance to experience a horseback ride with her you absolutely must not miss it, she doesn't do many so be flexible and make it happen. This was the best trail ride I've ever had! For one, the horses were fantastic. Doodlebug was such a sweetheart. I've ridden horses for most my life and sadly sold my horse 2 years ago and have been dying since. Doodlebug reminded me so much of my horse it was just what I needed. Saara was so nice and understanding of my need for some good riding and let me take Doodlebug for a quick gallop after the trail. And the trail? Breathtaking. Nothing there but the three of us and some song birds. And 2 hours worth of gorgeous scenery, who could ask for more? Oh, me. Because my boyfriend, now fiancée talked with Saara and surprised me with an engagement on the top of a hill in Sedona! She was there to take all the pictures, which turned out fantastic. Absolutely amazing experience. I have been an equestrian for 40 years and wanted an authentic western riding experience, not a head to tail trail ride with a group of people with no experience. Saara was awesome and surpassed my expectations 10 fold. Her horses are beautiful, well cared for, in shape and lovely dispositions. The tack was top quality, cleaned and conditioned. The trail was a loop with outstanding vistas, which she selected based on our riding capabilities. She did everything possible to make our experience tailored to our desires. She has a wonderful personality and my husband and I felt like we made a lifetime friend in just a few hours. She even took many pictures which we will enjoy for years to come. Saraa's graciousness and gentle horses made this a sweet experience for my animal-loving 20 year old daughter and me. We had not ridden out in the open like this before; Saara was kind as she taught us how to "steer" Easy and Thumper and allowed us to enjoy the horses and outdoors at a leisurely pace. On the trail, I mentioned my two younger daughters who were interested but have had allergic reactions; if allergies are a concern, discuss them with Saara in advance so she can help you make an informed decision rather than assuming allergies will be a roadblock. The ride was so enjoyable that when I mentioned to my daughter that I was writing this review, she said, "Let's go ride again!" I wish I could give this ride 10 stars! Like others have stated, Saara and her horses are both AMAZING. My husband and I enjoyed this so much, it was definitely the highlight of our trip to Sedona. Saara was a fabulous guide, taking us on a beautiful, scenic, and mostly private ride. We only ran into one other group, taking a Jeep tour. Saara took so many pictures and videos of our ride and then kindly sent them all to us - what a great memory! The horses were fantastic - we rode Easy and Thumper who are very sure-footed, extremely well behaved, and sweet. We trotted, cantered, and even galloped for a bit. My husband is an experienced rider, but I'm a true beginner. We are in our upper 60's and had never been on a trail ride in mountainous areas before. The best part about Saara's operation is that she obviously loves and takes splendid care of her horses. She specifically chose the horses that would best suit us, and never once did I feel afraid or nervous even though we did go up and down some rocky terrain. This added to my feeling of accomplishment at having completed a 2-hour ride. The scenery provided great photo opportunities, and the ride was the highlight of our week's stay in West Sedona. Saara and her friends Thumper and Easy and of course Ruby and Waffle the dogs were just wonderful today Mar 22 to Sandy and me. The trail was private and easy and the stories shared were just entertaining and uplifting. You will not find a private riding experience like this anywhere in this area of the country. Saara was born and raised here and she clearly loves her horses and she will love you, too, as she did us. This is not just a trail ride-it is a personal and educational experience with a young lady who loves this area her animals and loves to treat guests as family. Saara and her horses should be the choice you make for a wonderful ride. I am an advanced rider but my wife is not. She is scared of most horses outside of mine but Saara has done a great job with her horses and its obvious she spends time with them and that translates into a great and safe experience for all. My wife is also highly allergic and Saara even pressure washed the horses before our ride. The views of Red Rock State park were fantastic and Saara took some pics of us that were frame worthy. We live in Germany and we spend our holidays in the USA. I love riding and so we looked for horseback riding in Sedona. We found Saara and I'm so happy about it because it was a wonderful day with her! Her little farm is amazing. Saara and I drove with two horses to the Red Rock country. It made so much fun just to relax and to ride through this beautiful nature and to talk with Saara. After that we drove to the Oak Creek where we swam with the horses. Saara helped me to surprise my boyfriend with a fun, private ride through a beautiful part of Arizona in the Red Rock State Park. She met us at the trailhead with the horses saddled up and ready to go, they were just the sweetest things! You can tell she has been doing this for a long time and has a true passion for her animals and sharing them with others. We couldn't have asked for a better or more enjoyable time. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Saara is amazing, the horses were great and well mannered. The trail and the views are incredible. Don't waste your money with companies that make you ride in a large group on horses that aren't unique in any way. Saara is the best guide in Sedona and has the best horses to go along with it. Just hope that you're able to catch her on her day off as she works full time and does this on the side out of love for the horses and the hobby. What a great sunset ride in May of 2018. Saara is an amazing tour guide and takes pride in her horses. They are well cared for, well behaved, and were perfect for our family, which included a 7 year old who has never been on a horse in her life before. By the time we were 10 minutes into it, my daughter was riding Thumper by herself and was having the adventure of a lifetime. Saara paid attention to all of us and was very easy to talk to. Super fun horseback adventure with Saara! She took my sister and I down into the canyon by the river. Amazing scenery! Saara is quite knowledgeable about Sedona and surrounding areas. Her expertise with horses is obvious. I chose Saara becasue of her willingness to communicate with me prior to our ride and accommodate my sister and I based on experience. Also Saara takes care of her own horses and is responsible for them, thus has a smaller operation, but more personable. And she has a great sense of humor! read more
