It's a very small historic town but for what's there I have to give it 5 stars. You have lots of free parking, cute cafes, shops, and restaurants and beautiful buildings to view. I also love walking to Lillian Webb Park to sit on a bench and just enjoy the peace and quiet on a beautiful day. Im not sure how much longer this area will remain peaceful and quiet since when I was last here I noticed homes being built by the park. More construction.

High Yield: Out of all the newly renovating Gwinnett County downtown areas, this is probably my favorite compared to Suwanee, Lilburn, and Duluth. Duluth needs to work on variety of businesses. Lilburn just needs to ADD more businesses, and Suwanee needs more restaurants besides a bar and boutique stores and ice cream places. I felt that Norcross truly has good solid restaurants, a good scenic view, and that people lived within walking distance of this place- so it felt more established and more personal. Good restaurants include 1. The Crossing- this is steak house and burger house that has had many movies filmed here. It has a good lunch menu and people come here for the burgers and bar. Being right by the railroad, makes it a wild experience to see a train barreling right by your face as you eat! 2. The Market- probs my favorite southern barbecue and sandwich place in Georgia. The Market, with Scout mob 50% off makes super good brisket, good salmon, and good salads. I highly recommend this place for people looking for a good not too heavy and greasy barbecue place. It is a charming interior 3. Dominicks and Paisano's are Italian and Pizza places that I've heard of. I have yet to try but have heard that Paisano's is pretty good. 4. Zapata and Mojito are cuban and Tex-mex restaurants 5. 45 South cafe- makes good brownies, cookies, and sandwiches. It is a good place to do work, meet up with people and prices are not bad. Shops include 1. The Britain Store- literally sells British touristy stuff... tea cups, teas, flags, etc. A little odd and eccentric but certainly has charm 2. Antique Traditions- charming upscale middle white southern offerings 3. Olive oil taproom- the fanciest olive oil place I've ever seen in my life... feels like a giant winery with barrels of oil- use scoutmob for 50% off as well The area has good parks for dogs, walks, and is a scenic place for photography since it's by a railroad and has that nice southern small town charm. Many new residential buildings make this place seem like a diferent world despite some shadier areas on Buford or across Jimmy Carter in Norcross.

The Atlanta suburbs are filled with charming, historic downtowns. Marietta, Roswell, Alpharetta, Lawrenceville, Suwanee, the list goes on. These downtowns are fun to walk around and explore. Downtown Norcross is no exception. Norcross' historic district is comparatively small. The main drag is roughly one block: S Peachtree St. between Holcomb Bridge Rd. and Jones St. NW. Old brick buildings, originally built in the 1800s, house a variety of local restaurants and boutique shops. There are wide sidewalks made of cement and brick. Well groomed trees and old-fashioned black street lanterns line the road. The trees are wrapped and decorated (year-round, I think) with whimsical string lighting. There are benches for relaxing and hanging out. And plenty of trash cans too. The neighborhood is clean and feels safe. The row of unique storefronts are quaint and picturesque. I first learned of historic Norcross, a part of town "hidden" and unknown to the majority of metro Atlantans, in 2010 when a Cuban friend invited a group of us to dinner at Mojito's Cuban-American Bistro. Mojito's is one of the Atlanta area's better Cuban restaurants and it's located in historic Norcross. On some nights, they have live, festive Cuban music. My most recent visit to downtown Norcross took me to Bleu House Cafe and Bleu House Market. One of my neighbors works in the area and loves Bleu House for their Thai chicken wraps and smoked BBQ and chicken. The cafe and market are located in two totally separate blue-colored houses. The cafe (salads, sandwiches, wraps) is open for lunch only, Monday-Friday, 11am-3pm. The market serves heavier, Southern-style, family meals, kind of like the traditional "meat and two" setup. They've got their own smoker out back and serve items like delicious bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin, smoked beef brisket, cedar plank salmon, rigatoni mac and cheese, herb-sauteed green beans, and rich, delicious desserts. Praline brownies and chocolate peanut butter bars, anyone? Check them out if they're open (Monday-Friday, 11am-7pm) during your visit. Chef Bryan is wonderful. Taste of Britain is located here. This shop is one-of-a-kind in Atlanta. They specialize in authentic English tea, scones, and various foodstuffs from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Great for gifting or if you're looking for that hard-to-find British item. Aside from the aforementioned businesses, there's a cafe (I hear the coffee at 45 South is excellent), a New York pizza restaurant, an Italian restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a pub (Iron Horse Tavern), and more. There are also two parks nearby: Thrasher Park and Lillian Webb Park. Thrasher Park has a kids playground. Lillian Webb Park is the bigger of the two, has pavilions and gazebos, and hosts events. Downtown Norcross was constructed around railroad tracks (as many downtowns were). Every now and then, you might see, hear, and feel trains zoom by. The neighborhood is very close to Buford Highway and is also easily accessible from Peachtree Industrial Blvd. (141) via Holcomb Bridge Rd. Parking is free.

No small town is complete without a train passing through.

Everything in this plaza is amazing! Please visit and try out all the cuisines on Buford Highway…read more You cannot go wrong with any of them. You'll like some better than others of course, but this is my go to location for food.

Let me put it this way: Every city should have a Buford Highway. This road is so much more than…read morejust a high-speed, dangerous, suburban 2-lane and 3-lane Highway coming into ATL from the NE Burbs. This is ethnic food paradise. All along this road for miles, you will find one plaza after another filled with all kinds of Latino, Asian, Indian, European goodies and so, so much more. El Rey is a great taco shop, Sweet Hut has lovely bubble tea and pastries, and Bismillah is awesome for curry, and that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. You could spend a year driving up and down this road and never eat at the same place for dinner twice. Oh and don't get me started on the delicious Crawfish Shack, which sells the cheapest and most delicious Cajun style crawfish in the area, despite being Vietnamese rather than from the Bayous of the Deep South. You might see me in the Buf along this highway. It's so awesome I always want to get naked.
