We've been tracking for a couple weeks…read moretrying to decide which weekend to make the drive out for a show; it's about an hour from our home. The Saturday showtimes seem to be 10am and 1:30pm. We were aiming for a puppet show last weekend but landed on a science show this weekend and I'm so glad we did! We got to see "Noreen the Science Queen" and engage in a live show with her. Not only was she amazing, but it was so wonderful to expose our girls to a woman in STEM and, more special for them, a Black woman in STEM. After the show, Noreen the Science Queen greeted the attendees in the lobby. She was open for pictures, and was selling both science kits for at home experiments and copies of her book. She is also available for birthday parties!! Now about the Cultural Arts Center, they currently have two exhibits: (1) there is an art show in the lobby in honor of Juneteenth and visitors get to vote on their favorite three (2) there is an exhibit of toys and games from the 1800s on the second floor. We didn't go up to check it out.

I attended a musical performance of the group Abilene on a Saturday night. I truly enjoyed everything about the experience. First, the theater is relatively small, and most seats are not too far from the stage. I had lucked out and was able to purchase a seat in the front row, which is 10 to 15 feet away from the stage. The performance by Abilene was simply spectacular. They describe themselves as a neo classical ensemble. I love the way they took some classical pieces by composers, such as Bach in Vivaldi, deconstructed them, reconstructed them, and made them their own. The peace, entitled Cascades was probably my favorite. It was inspired by the mountain range in the Pacific Northwest. The passionate playing near the end by both the cellist and the violinist was extraordinary. I also love the way they created a peaceful environment during their performance. They had a fog machine or smoke machine, as well as different colored lights used with each song. I also appreciated having David Crowe, the cultural arts coordinator, introduce the group, as well as tell us a little bit about the upcoming performances. While the tickets for next season don't go on sale until May, I'm ready to purchase tickets for more shows in 2023 and into 2024. Cheers

It comes with all the equipment you need (sound, projectors, kitchen with warmers and microwaves). They arrange the room, which seats up to 120, how you want. The facility is extremely affordable. I wish there was more parking, but there are other areas nearby to park. The people there are very helpful and kind. If you clean up to their liking after the event, you get your deposit back within the following week. I'd do another event there in the future.

A RELAXING FRIDAY NIGHT!…read more Tonight my husband and I attended one of the First Friday concerts at the center. These concerts occur the first Friday of every month in the upstairs ballroom. They are from 7:00 until 9:00 and feature a variety of artists. Attendees are encouraged to bring their dinner and eat during the concert just as they do during the summer concerts. Tonight's group was "Out of the Rain" featuring Ron HIpp and Carol Statella, a folk duo. It is apparent that they have been together for a very long time because they just flow together seamlessly. I enjoyed tonight's selections which included folk classics and a country waltz. It was great "feel good" music that allows you to forget about everything but sitting back and fully enjoying the moment. It was a great way to spend a Friday evening!

Ciao Alpharetta! You were simply wonderful to me. I had a great year living here and it was well…read morespent :) Come live in a city that has aesthetic streets, diverse population, beautiful parks to have a peaceful life. Nature lovers, bikers, families with kids - Are you hearing me?? Georgia in general is known for it's beautiful parks & waterfalls and Alpharetta is no different. Visit the bustling Avalon mall for nightlife or the downtown for some interesting music and art festivals, the Big Creek Greenway for it's accessible paths that caters to everyone or the Fulton network of libraries to indulge in books or plethora of activities curated by the staff. A very peaceful city to live in & compared to it's neighbors like Roswell, traffic isn't bad at all. Alpharetta also has it's share of a few but good IT companies that is filled with Indians (duh! We're everywhere I know;) ) and a good school district. It's safe to live in and actually a great place to raise a family. Yeah yeah, rents can be high and property taxes can be too but not higher than the national average (I see you Californians :)) Take a chance on Alpharetta, you won't be disappointed :)

Alpharetta Tree Lighting 2017 - what an experience!! I started out with a picture with Santa and…read moreMrs. Claus. What a fabulous couple - looked so authentic! There was a professional photographer taking pictures that could be downloaded for free after the event and you were also allowed to take your own photos. As I was by myself, the photographer was gracious enough to take pictures with my phone for me. The line was about 1/2 hour wait, but it was so worth it. Then I was off to see what complimentary crafts were being offered. Wow, so many choices: popsicle Christmas trees to decorate, small jingle bell bracelets to make, large jingle bell necklaces to make, several different foam crafts to assemble (reindeer, snowman photoframe, birdhouse thermometer, reindeer glasses and more!). While looking at the kids making the crafts I noticed someone with an adorable balloon reindeer and went to find out where they had gotten it. There were two balloon artists that worked their fingers to the bone making the cutest balloons! Many different designs including: reindeer, snowman, Christmas tree, Christmas wreath, Santa hat, turtle, unicorn, giant candy cane, swords, and many more. They were amazing - and the line showed it. I was in line about 45 minutes for my reindeer, but I consider it time well spent! Then I was off to find the marshmallow roasting area. They had several fire pits set up and folks putting marshmallows on sticks for everyone. Truth be told, I went back more than once additional marshmallows. :) The event started at 4:00pm with the tree lighting at 6:15pm. Beautiful big tree on Main Street covered in white lights. I could not even count the number of folks taking pictures in front of - and inside of - the lit tree. I think everyone had a spectacular time. The event was scheduled to end after the tree was lit, but I was not the only one to continue to stay and take part in the merriment well after that. The face painting booth as well as pictures with Santa still had long lines when I called it quits at 6:45pm. I can hardly wait to attend this event again next year!!!

Got to see several deer along the trail as well. I like how much nature this park has, many deers roam in the park. Dog must be leashed as there is wildlife present. Multiple picnic areas that varies in size. Four picnic pavilions that can be reserved, ample free parking but there is no shade on slides and swings. Play ground for kids and lots of space for different age groups to meet and do some fun activities. Well worth a visit any time of the year. If you are out this way definitely check it out.
