Dingus Guide has a video on Bethabara Park which you can check out by copying and pasting this link: https://youtu.be/cUpkbfv0vEY Please be sure to give a Like and SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss future videos! This one spotlights Bethabara Park as a very nice, safe, and FREE outing with educational value - since we are all homeschool parents nowadays! Our older daughter especially enjoyed learning about the historic building structure and layout of Bethabara as a colonial village, and we really enjoyed the scenic hike through the woods and up to God's Acre cemetery. The park also hosts events, re-enactments, and demonstrations as well as guided tours. They also host the Apple festival with food trucks and games, when we're not in a pandemic, of course. Even during the pandemic, we were able to enjoy an enriching experience that got us out of the house and quality time together as a family!

Box turtle came out after the rain. Much wildlife here.

My favorite part is walking up the hill to God's Acre cemetery to check out the ancient stones.

Great trail for walking, running, walking the dogs or riding a bike. The Old Salem section of the Strollway is a 5 star. The trail takes you right past Old Salem. You will pass right by the Old Salem Visitors Center and the Heritage Bridge. You can cross over the street using the bridge and visit Old Salem if you like. The trail in this section is wide enough for all people coming and going. If you follow the Strollway south you will end up at the Greenway, which you can take to Winston-Salem State or Salem Lake to the west, or Washington Park to the east, but that is another review. You do have to cross over a busy street (Salem Avenue) but there is a nice wine shop on the other side. The northern route past Old Salem takes you to downtown and ends at 4th Street. This takes you under Business 40 and past Corpening Plaza park. Nice part of this section is you end up right into the heart of all of the downtown restaurants on 4th Street. This section requires crossing 3 streets in downtown. The only reason I don't have the Strollway rated 5 stars is the section running under Business 40 can be a little sketchy. This will change after the Business 40 renovations are completed.

A pleasant 1.2 mile trek from downtown Winston-Salem to Old Salem/Salem Ave. it's a leisurely walk…read moredown tree lined sidewalks passing residential areas, cafes, and historical Old Salem which is where the Moravians settled in the early 1800's. Whether leisurely, or for hard core exercise, this is a magnificent adventure!
