Uncle went for the tonkotsu ramen. Big Bro and cousin decided they each wanted the 5-piece shrimp tempura. Service was pretty fast considering there were only 4 other tables being serviced. Needless to say, the bowls both came out quickly. My bowl wasn't impressive, even at the least. It barely hinted the aroma of miso, so I really didn't get any taste of it. There was nothing authentic about it, it was almost as if they just boiled water then added salt and miso powder before serving. It needs some serious work. Uncle said he liked his tonkotsu. I didn't bother tasting it since I was disappointed enough with the miso bowl. And I don't know how to get started on the shrimp tempura. (See attached picture.) There was no comparison to the picture they were advertising on their menu and what we got. It was quite a mess - the shrimp got lost in a forest of cooked tempura flour. I would score a zero on presentation for this dish. Big Bro and cousins said it was "okay." I know, maybe I'm being unfair since my palate is not one with the masses in this here area. But there's potential here - if they care just a little bit more, it will show and will make a difference with their food quality wise.
