Daryl and the guys from Hired Gun have been taking care of my home in Riverside for years. The guys, especially Eric, have been awesome. They do not make you sign a contract, just call them up every few months and pay as you go for your standard bugs and critters. Their prices are extremely fair. I recommend getting covered with a termite plan. I own a 85 year old home and subteranian termites are a thing in my area. After the initial inspection and treatment it is a nominal anual fee to keep you covered year after year. I used them for routine control of standard pests and termites. I even needed to have my home tented a few years ago, more to save intricate wood work than a real infestation, and they took care of it fast and without issue. read more

We had a problem with moths in our food cabinets and pantry, and had been trying to deal with them for the past months ourselves. Since there was food involved, we could not simply just put in moth balls and we tried to clean out the pantry ourselves. Calling Hired Gun Exterminating was the best choice! Daryl came the next day, helped me figure out where there moths could be (apparently they can live under cracked tiles too!), sprayed down the tiles, and helped me inspect my food. So far, so good! I recently had an issue with mice and chose Hired Gun because of the good reviews and supposed reasonable rates. Melissa from Hired Gun answered the phone and i told her about my issues. She told me that they can do a free inspection and then we can decide whether we would want to go forward with their service. Daryl came by two hours later which was very professional and he did an inspection which took about 20 minutes. He didn't know how big the mouse was so he said he will place a few traps (which consisted of four regular snap traps and four paper glue traps). He said he will come back the next morning to check. Daryl came by the next morning to see if we had trapped any mice but there weren't any so he placed two more paper glue traps and reset one of the snap traps. He said that he will come back two days later to see if we caught any mice. We trapped a mouse the next day and disposed of it ourselves. Daryl came by and asked us if we wanted to leave the traps around the house for a couple more days just to be sure and we agreed. We didn't catch anymore mice and Daryl called and said that he will be coming to collect the traps. Up to this point, there was no mention of cost. It all seemed as though he was trying to figure out how big the mouse was or what kind of rodent we were dealing with and then he was going to prescribe a recommended course of action along with the cost. When Daryl came by to pick up the traps, we missed him but got a bill on our door for almost $200. What bothers us the most is that he did not even mention the cost of his services before performing the service. We were left in the dark the whole time thinking that he was setting up the traps as part of his inspection (since he didn't mention cost at all during the process.) I called to ask what the cost breakdown was for this bill and why it was so high. I was told that is what he normally charges for his services. I told him that I was never informed of this cost before even performing the work : which I think is highly unethical in any business. I understand that he has a business to run and he can charge whatever he wants for his services ( which i personally believe is too high for something that can be done for less than $15 worth of materials from a local hardware store.) I think he should have at least informed us before going ahead with everything. We were originally thinking to have him check our house every few months and potentially be his customers for life but after this incident we have decided otherwise. In summary: I would not recommend hired gun and would instead recommend going to a local hardware store and buying some snap traps and paper glue traps for less than $15 and solve the mouse problem yourself. read more

Customer since 2011!!! Even though I've been a customer of Daryl's since 2011, this is only the third time that he's had to come to my house (end of 2018)! His bug spray concoction is like magic! I almost feel like it's hurting his business since the spray is so good that you don't need him to come out all the time, but I believe that he keeps his customers for a lifetime by providing such great service. You won't need anyone else ever! He has such a great eye for handling all sorts of pesky situations... just recently I called him for an unfortunate fly infestation. After about 10 minutes of him working his magic, peace was restored in my home once again. Daryl is my HERO!!! He even offered to come back in a couple of days to MAKE SURE that everything is absolutely taken care of. Even though it's been a few years since I've seen him and talked to his wife Melissa, they remember me like it was yesterday! Talking to the both of them is like catching up with old friends. We live in Corona, and found a small wasp nest starting under the eaves above our garage door. Normally, we take care of our pest issues ourselves, but felt this would be a good thing to hire a professional for. I called five different companies in Norco and Corona, some small, and some notably famous. They all said the same thing: "In order to assist you, you MUST sign up for the annual contract, which will be ...$250, $220, $180, etc." No one would come out JUST to remove a wasp's nest, they didn't even want to discuss it until I had signed up for annual service! I called Hired Gun, and the only question they asked me was, "When would you like this done?" They gave me a very reasonable quote, and came out within days to take care of the problem. They were professional, efficient, and took care of the issue with no difficulty at all. We had a short discussion about their other services, because I inquired. At some point, we will most likely move to having a service control the pest issues, and when we do, it will be Hired Gun. We like them because the first words out of their mouth, when we called, were not how much money we needed to give them, just to discuss the issue. And they came, took care of things, and only brought up their annual rates when asked. They are there to service you with the issue you have, their first priority is not to jam a sales pitch down your throat. What a difference! Great job, excellent work! We had a wasps nest on our second story and wasps flying around trying to make a new nest right in front of our front door. I called Daryl and he made me an appointment that same day within two hours. Little did we know we had about 12 total nests around the house, 2 that were very active. They came out and did basic containment spray/treatment for termites in a specific area of the floors/house and supposedly sprayed underneath the house as well. I only had maybe two spots where they were coming up, very small, very little problem so this should have worked. They did not inform me that it has a very low likelihood of working, people stated that it doesn't work, they said because the issue was fairly small, that it should have worked. So, I don't know what the answer to that is, but either way, I wasn't happy that after spending $600 that they came back in full force. The job is warrantied but I did not see that the termites had come back in full force until a month after the warranty expired. Did they honor it anyways? No. They estimated $1700. I found a better company who could do it sooner for $200 less. read more

Hired Gun got my business because of the good reviews I'd read and the friendliness of the staff and owner (Daryl). Daryl himself serviced my apartment. I found him to be responsive, knowledgeable, courteous, and personable. He patiently answered all my of questions and concerns regarding chemical safety, and even produced a copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for me. He stays up to date with the most current, effective, and safe pesticides that are available. When someone takes the time to address my concerns and perform a good service, it is the least I can do to share it with others and recommend the service at Hired Gun.
