I first heard of Hippy Chick Hummus at a Halloween Yelp event so I decided to give it a try at their location. Their hours are a bit tricky, so check to see if they're open before you go. When I arrived on a Saturday, their store sign said closed even though they were scheduled to be open by 11am. When I did go in, they seemed overwhelmingly understaffed. None of their soups were ready, various ingredients for their açaí bowls weren't available, etc. I did choose to get their Hawaii bowl and the turmeric hummus. There was about a 15 minute wait to get my order, being that I was the only one in there it was a bit odd. The açaí bowl was okay, nothing impressive to be honest. I've made better at home and for $10, it wasn't worth it to me. Their hummus however is very good. $5.50 for a container to go. read more

I ordered the NaNa Bowl and WOW! Everything was so fresh and tasted amazing! I was disappointed when I finished because I wanted MORE. I didn't want it to end. Cute shop can't deny that. I love that they have vegan options. I had the Hawaii açaí bowl, and honestly it was just "Ok". It was pretty much frozen (I took it to go) but I was hungry in that moment so I kinda just chipped away at it until it started to thaw. I did not enjoy the flavor either. If it wasn't for the toppings I may have actually thrown it out. They do have great options for toppings (too many to name). The chickpizza looked delicious so I'd come back for that. The girl working the shop was so nice that if in the area again I will def give them another try. I know the shop is new so maybe they are working out the kinks. read more

We're from Texas, visiting family in MD. I'm a "flexitarian" who has been eating too much dairy on this trip. I got a falafel bowl and it was delicious and refreshing. I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture. But the garlic hummus and their special lemon dressing was delicious with the fresh greens. The store has a nice atmosphere and the people were friendly. Super good! Went in with my friend one afternoon and got hummus with cucumber and pita and some delicious kombucha. Staff were really nice! Which was kind of relaxing since we had gotten treated not that well at another small shop in Frederick that day, will definitely come back again and get more delicious food! read more

I had pretty high expectations for this place considering I have heard some pretty awesome things about it. Unfortunately, my experience was just barely satisfactory. We arrived right when they opened (11 AM), there were only two people working and they were running behind so we stood outside for an extra 10 minutes before they let us in. I ordered the Hawaiian smoothie bowl and a to-go container of their turmeric humus. We waited at least 15 minutes before they were ready with our order. The smoothie bowl honestly did not live up to the hype....I have made better açaí bowls at home using organic ingredients from the grocery store. The humus is nicely spiced and I did enjoy it, but again, not overly impressive. On the bright side, the staff was nice and apologetic for the wait. We stopped in here on a very hot and humid day and it was perfect! The space is a bit small right now, but the owner said they were working on a back patio, which will be lovely when it's ready! Everything is hand-made right there, and it tastes delicious! We tried both of their smoothie bowls- the Acai Hawaiian, and the Naner bowl. The Hawaiian one was refreshing and delicious, while the Naner bowl was a bit heartier/thicker. I topped the Hawaiian bowl with granola, strawberries, blueberries, banana, and peanut butter. You get 5 toppings with each bowl, and the serving is extremely filling!! We also tried the black garlic hummus, which was delicious- especially with the warm pita bread! I don't live in the Frederick area, but I pass trough fairly often- I can't wait to stop in again!! read more

I absolutely love this cafe. Today I got an Apple Chai Kombucha and it had pieces of apple on top that were the most sweet and delicious apples I've ever had. On top of that I got the cauli-taco lunch special which was absolutely beautiful, filling, and delicious. The little things about this shop make it so warm and welcoming. They also serve many more vegan entrees as well as different flavors of kombucha each few weeks. The smoothie bowls, especially the 'Nana bowl, are my favorite thing on the menu. You will catch local art hanging on the walls and smiling faces when you enter. Give it a try at least once. :) read more

It is essentially a juice bar cum- hummus cafe, which also serves a small array of salads and bowls. The decor is indeed hip and cosy. Service is corteous. The hummus variety is quite respectable and the one I tried palatable. The falafel were however the reinterpretation of a gluten-free vegan shop (with grains and so on), rather than the genuine middle Eastern article- and aptly so, given the venue, but if you seek something of substance or character it may not be the appropriate choice. You could, and people do, take away very good hummus, but it's honesty not difficult to make one's own. If you add the limited service hours, it's definitely more of an alternative lunch spot, rather than a casual vegetarian joint, which the city needs. read more

this is probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite, places downtown. hippy chick has added so many more interesting & fun events to downtown frederick, such as tacopuncture and dream catcher weaving! it's a true blessing to have it downtown. the interior is so cozy and cute. it's a perfect place to stop in for both a snack or breakfast/lunch. the owner is so sweet and is constantly adding new creations to the menu that are all vegan and contain yummy chickpeas!! you can't go wrong with any hummus flavor, açai bowl, or kombucha! i really hope that hippy chick will continue to grow in popularity because everyone deserves to try this delicious spot. read more

My favorite spot in Frederick!! Food is all vegan, pretty much all gluten free (except for pita but offer gluten free chips and veggies for the hummus!) You can tell all the ingredients are super FRESH!! They have tasty kombucha on draft that is always rotating so there is something always new to try out. You have to try the chickpeaza or the tacos when you go or smoothie bowls. You really can't go wrong with anything here the food is simply delicious. A real small and cute place that was started less than two months ago. Tiny menu but very healthy. Hummus of two kinds and several flavors is served with warm wheat pita. I ordered chickpea humus with olives and my wife tried edamame hummus. Both were excellent. We shared a Hawaii smoothly bowl with blueberries, pistachios, chia seeds, cacao nibs, and coconut. I am so excited that Hippy Chick Hummus is in the game!!! I had their Hawaii bowl today and I am SO happy with it. The acai bowl was so fresh and yummy with local honey added an additional touch. It was very reasonably priced and I can assure you it is now my new to go spot for a healthy and fresh snack. I highly recommend and all my girlfriends will be headed their way ASAP! The Hawaii bowl was mediocre versus other better açaí bowls I've had at other places. Really liked the idea of pick 5 toppings of your choice which was nice. Especially including both peanut butter and almond butter as well as pistachios. However the bowl base was not very good. Whoever made it did not blend it well enough and it was very icy and there were chunks of banana that had not been blended all the way. read more
