They recently went through a heavy makeover of the restaurant and now the look really matches the food. They've kept the comforting pub bar and quiet corners but also installed a family friendly restaurant area that opens onto an impressive beer garden with a two story Wendy house! But to return to the more important aspects of having a restaurant, the food is really good. The service is fast and every time i've gone they've been incredibly friendly. I've even blundered into a quiz night by total chance which was really well run (though i might be saying that as i won a bottle of wine!). Friendly, affordable, good quality, i forgot to mention the beer but there are some fine ales and bitters as well as the standard fair on tap. Good for families but also a really nice place to just sit and take your ease for a while. a real country retreat of a pub.

Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and the service is brilliant. I love the wine list, but I'm being torn away from making my way through that to try their excellent range of spirits!! They have a green and relaxing beer garden with a cool looking hut for kids (no more salt and vinegar crisps and cola by a fireplace! ), and even their own veggie patch where they grow a few herbs for the kitchen. I wish I lived closer!

It turned out to be a very good decision and really enhanced the trip. When I arrived Robin, the proprietor, gave me a tour of all the rooms and let me choose which one I preferred for my first night (a fluke due to available scheduling, but a nice gesture) and I chose the thatched-roof Arran, which is the coolest of all the rooms, although honestly they are all very clean and nice. Me and the other wedding guests who stayed there took all our breakfasts and some of our dinners in the pub just a few steps away and I don't think any of us had one bad meal. Everything was well-prepared and tasty. The decor and ambiance is charming and authentic English pub-like which helped us to feel like we were really on vacation. The only minor quibbles are: - the wifi is broken into two zones, so you have to log in to different routers depending if you're in your room or in the pub. - our room's shower was a bit leaky on the floor, and one morning I showered too late and all the hot water was gone. However the cold shower was pretty invigorating :) But these were really minor items. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed staying there and found Robin to be a friendly and accommodating host. Very happy with the rooms and food, all priced very reasonably for the quality of the experience.

They have a fully stocked bar at the entrance, offering all sorts of beer and wine, sure to find something that fits your taste buds. The restaurant created a kind of "sample" platter to share, with cheesy scones, cheese, and sausages. They were all so very tasty! Nice beginning to our dinner feast... For appetizer, we had King Scallops & Venison, and Scallops Gruyere Gratinated with Panko Crumb, Dunkin Toast, and Fresh Lemon. Both of them were so amazingly delicious! For main, I chose 6oz Fillet Steak, Scallop, White Crab & Tiger Prawn Gratin. It was just amazing and delicious! the steak was pure perfection! The sauce and jus was awesome! My hubby went with Banham's Chicken Breast, Gruyere Truffle Mac 'n' Cheese. It came with generous amount of chicken, soft and tender. Very filling and satisfying! We were all quite full, but that didn't stop us from getting deserts...we had Sticky Sticky Pudding, and Rhubarb & Custard. It was one of the best sticky puddings I've ever tasted! We had an amazing dinner, everything was exquisite! We enjoyed every bite of every dish. The service was very polite, friendly and accommodating. No wonder they received many awards!

I could wax on and on lyrical here but I wont, don't listen to me, read the proffessional reviews. We stayed in the Hayloft which was immaculately clean and perfectly serene. The minibar was perfectly thought out, the bathroom was gorgeous, the loft was a super fun little nook to sit and peruse the countless cookbooks filling the library, the interior was simple yet warm. It really felt like staying in your super stylish friend's guest house. The pup was welcomed with all sorts of treats (bones, chew sticks and a big bowl of water). The restaurant was perfect. After 3 breakfasts, 3 dinner and 2 lunches, we pretty much tried everything on the menu and couldn't criticize a thing. We pretty much spent the weekend eating wonderful food, exploring beautiful local villages and strolling the local Hampshire countryside. Simon was very welcoming and offered lovely suggestions for walks and sight seeing. The rest of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I honestly can't think of anything that could have made our stay at The Wellington Arms any better. We will be back again very soon.
