Good pub and ideal meeting place centrally located. Loads of on-site parking and a nice beer garden. There is a good choice of dishes on the menu and menus change regularly. Food quality and service are above average. Great interior and atmosphere with a range of seating types and lots of nooks and corners to tuck yourselves away in. A nice modern pub that's still cozy inside. I really enjoyed my steak and ale pie that came with mashed potatoes, and the service was good. I used to go to the Oatsheaf quite often when I worked in Fleet, both at lunchtime and in the evening. I never had a bad experience with the food, I thought it was quite good. It seems that the staff at the bar change quite a lot, so you could have mixed experiences here. Inside, it's modern and cosy with open fireplaces in the winter. It's well maintained although the mens toilets could use an update. Outside there's plenty of space with benches distributed over a large garden. You can now stay out longer since the management have provided radiant heaters as well. The only gripe I would have is that there is never enough space to park. read more

This is a nice pub located just off the Fleet high street. It has a warm cosy feel inside. There are plenty of spaces to sit down but you'll have to be quick at weekends. There is a beer garden out the back which is very popular during the Summer periods. Also a smoking area during the Winter periods. This is also a popular pub with the students when they are home. It does however take a while to get served. Otherwise a nice chilled country style pub to enjoy a few drinks at. read more

The Oatsheaf has a huge garden so is great in summer. Drinks are fairly reasonably priced. This place has a nice atmosphere and is comfortably decorated. Food is cheap but the quality is not very good. I once ordered food and before I got back to my table it had arrived. It was (unsurprisingly) very undercooked. read more

Since is was cold tonight and positively icy while breaking down our trade show booth the fires burning here were more than bit welcoming. The staff are great, the atmosphere is comfortable....but get rid of the bloody measuring jiggers for whiskey. I love my trips to England but pour a poor man a decent measure of whiskey. read more

A good pub located in the heart of the town. Prices are extremley good for a pub and it is popular among students on a thursday night so it is usually packed. There is a large garden which is great in the summer and there are a large number of seats and benches so it looks as if there should be enough seats for most people. Interior is nice with good pub decor. Not personally tired the food but if the pub is good i would imagine it would also be pretty good. worth a visit although avoid on a thursday night if you want a quiet drink. read more

One of the better pubs in Fleet in the sense that you are not considered overage if you are now in your 20's or higher and you are not at risk of losing your shoes on a sticky floor. No thumping music, you are safe to order your pint and a glass of wine although expect a bit of a delay on a Friday or Saturday night sometimes as they can be a bit slow. A plus of the Oatsheaf is the garden which is big in size and has lots of garden tables, plus a large undercover bit with heaters, mainly used by the smokers now. I guess my gripe with the Oatsheaf is that is just seems completely devoid of any character although i appreciate that can be hard to really have in a chain pub which this is, but there is no sense that they are even really trying to give it some. read more

A good pub located right by the main traffic lights at the end of Fleet high street. The pub is always busy and sometimes you do have to wait to be served. During the summer months the pub gets extremley busy mainly due to the beer garden. The beer garden is quite large and is full of benches, with plenty of seating to go round. I totally agree with debs3693 review - The Oatsheaf is one of the better pubs in Fleet to meet with the girls and have a catch up but it has no character and for my last 3 visits served warm bottles of white wine - apparantly the fridge can't keep them cold when the door is being continually opened in order to serve the wine! I think Fleet needs a wine bar and light bite/tapas style venue for 30+. read more

I used to visit this pub a lot as I worked locally - it was always a bit hit and miss, but not bad for post work drinks. After my recent experience, however, I won't be returning and nor will a lot of my friends/family. I met a friend a couple of weeks ago for coffee. We were only there for about an hour, in which time I had 2 coffees and my friend had a soft drink - it was extremely quiet, almost ghostly, which it never used to be. A few days later I received a car parking ticket from eurocarparks- it seems the pub has decided to install a parking meter since I visited a few months ago. After reading a similar review to this from another customer and seeing a very polite reply advising the customer that if they had contacted the pub they would have cancelled the ticket for them, I decided it was worth getting in touch- after all, I was a genuine customer and it had been a genuine mistake. I sent a couple of emails and tried to contact the pub via Facebook, but all communications were ignored. In the end I called to discuss it over the phone and advised I had emailed a few times but not heard back. Before I could finish my sentence the incredibly rude manager interrupted me and said: "can I just stop you there? Is this about car parking?". I explained that it was, to then be told the pub can't keep up with all the emails they receive about car parking and they don't reply to them!!!? Clearly I'm not the first to have experienced this! The rather obnoxious woman proceeded to tell me she was sick of having to continually tell customers that there are signs in the car park (obviously not very clear ones if she's always repeating herself!!) and that I would need to send in proof of purchase in order for them to cancel my parking ticket. I only had a card transaction for one of the drinks as the rest were paid in cash and i didn't think I'd need to keep the receipts. I sent the card transaction over the proved I was a genuine customer of the pub, only to receive a reply abruptly advising that I did not spend the minimum threshold of £5. I had actually been due to meet a friend at the same pub for dinner the next evening and replied to the manager urging her to help and to hopefully see the value of my repeat custom. I was ignored again and when chased, told I had breached the terms and conditions and I would have to pay my fine. I had to pay £50 in the first 2 weeks or £85 thereafter. Whilst I appreciate I was partly to blame for not noticing the signs, I found the service and demeanour utterly appalling and extremely short sighted! I obviously changed the pub I was meeting my friend in for dinner and we went to the Heron on the Lake instead - it's just round the corner and free parking! our bill came to over £100, so a total loss for The Oatsheaf. Furthermore, the minimum ticket cost at The Oatsheaf is £2 for 2 hours, which is quite a lot for a pub to charge customers who are meeting for a quick drink and don't reach the minimum threshold. Maybe that explains why it was so quiet when I went - it's gone very downhill. I strongly recommend those looking for a pub in fleet try the Heron on the Lake instead. The parking is free and you get treated like an actual customer, not a criminal. read more

This is probably the best pub on the high street but given Fleet, that's not saying much! There's a huge garden and decking with heaters so if you can, sit outside. It's a typical chain pub but good for drinks and the pub quiz. Standard of food varies greatly depending on who's cooking. If you're out for a meal - go elsewhere to eat first. read more

I visited this pub around 2 months after its reopening. Food is very expensive, and service is none existent. The food was no better than in a 2 for 8 pre cooked pub, most of my food was hard because of it being over cooked. Not made to feel welcome. read more
