But as the haircut went on, my son's bangs just kept getting shorter and shorter. I started coming here about a year after moving back from NY and trying three other barbers before locating this shop. It's an hour drive from my home but worth the drive in my opinion. The shop is clean, the barbers are courteous and personable. The shop itself has a brick facade for aesthetics and has a nice amount of art on the walls from local artists including the shop owner. The shop allows you to book appointments online and also allows walk-ins based on availability. I always use the appointment option to avoid a potential wait. The barber I've been going to now for 2 + years is James and I always leave feeling better than I did walking in the door. If you don't leave feelings better and looking better than when you came in they aren't doing it right. They have great options from a simple line up to a hot towel shave, facial steam and black mask treatments if you really want to take care of your skincare needs in one stop. I try to come about every two weeks and have even mixed up an appointment but was accomodated quickly by my barber James. We arrived to a nice, clean place with friendly faces. There were a few people waiting which is typically for a salon/shop. I was told he was running behind which was fine. He ended up taking my son earlier than expected so that was good. My son got a taper, loved his haircut and I was happy with it, too. First time here and made an appointment on a certain barber's website for this establishment.. but when I arrived, that barber didn't seem to know about it. (When I made the appointment before 2pm for a 6pm appointment, I thought it was too good to be true for an appointment that late on the same day) so I wasn't TOO upset when he said he couldn't get me in, I was a bit disappointed, because I got his name from my cousin.. because my cousin and his son go to this barber faithfully, and I ALWAYS love their hair.. so I definitely only really wanted to see him. ((I won't name him, because there are no bad feelings, and I understood his dilemma, just please be careful when using their website to book appointments)) But when he turned around and asked any other guys if they had time for me, the nice gentleman named Dom at the very last chair in the shop said he could get me in, even though he was still working on somebody at 6pm. I was very thankful for that to begin with, then when I sat in the chair, he was already very friendly, and we had nice conversations throughout the entire cut. And you would think that any barber would rush a last minute customer that came technically at closing time, but NO, Dom was very professional and didn't rush at all; he was very attentive and listened to every request I had, and knew exactly what to do. I got the full treatment, and I think every cut comes with a straight edge line up, while the chair you're in reclines very comfortably. Brought my 12 year old son in for a haircut on 10/23/19, he spent about an hour and a half in a barbers chair. I thought the length of the whole haircut was way too long to begin with. I asked for a tapered cut on the sides with a scissor cut on top so that he can comb his hair back. Simple enough.. I thought. What we got was completely different, after I asked him to fix it they informed me that what I was describing was a fade..which meant doing the whole haircut over. I didn't want that since my son was tired of sitting there already for over an hour. I asked them to try and fix it so it looked decent. I'm not sure if he was the store manager that I spoke to or just another barber next to him but he seemed more interested in arguing the language I used to describe the cut we wanted. At this point I just wanted to get out of there..I understand the miscommunication on my part but a haircut should still look even and better than when we first came in which it didn't! Here's the worst part... they CHARGED 30.00's for a kid's cut!!! Avoid this place if you want a good quick haircut. These barbers are clearly not ready and need more practice.. plus the atmosphere feels like your in a frat house. I moved to Oakley from San Francisco last February and have been looking for an acceptable place to get my hair cut with no luck. I had been traveling back to SF every time I need a cut. My SF barber lives in Antioch and I thought if I bought a pair of clippers, he could cut my hair at home and save me the roundtrip to SF. I was looking for barber supply shops to purchase the clippers, and one of the listings was for HIMC. I read the reviews, viewed the photos, and made an appointment with Derek. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and contrary to what other people have said, when the other barbers had no one in their chairs, I was immediately offered the choice of having one of them cut my hair so I wouldn't have to wait for Derek to finish the customer he was with. I chose to wait...after all....I have to wait every time I go to the doctor or dentist, expect a repair person at my home, and pretty much anything else for which I have an appointment...so not only did I not mind waiting, I felt better about it because at least I could see the reason for the delay, and it was less than for any other type of appointment. Once I was in the chair, the attention paid to making sure my cut was exactly as I wanted was impressive. Even more so was the fact that Derek didn't just worry about the hair, but extended his services to incluDe eyebrow and mustache trimming...it is clear he was not just interested in cutting my hair and getting on to the next customer, but he was invested in ensuring I looked my best when leaving his shop, and would do whatever was necessary to achieve that. I used to like this place, I was very impressed when I got my first hair cut here with Cesar. So I continue scheduling appointments with him, but he was always late so I stop getting my haircuts with him and I try a different barber (Jeremy) and it was good until he start taking too long with the previous client or running late and I will have to wait for another 30 to 40 minutes, even though I scheduled an appointment. They do great haircuts but they don't respect your time. Needless to say I won't be coming back. I've been to this shop multiples times all my family gets cut by the James! And I have to say all the barbers in the shop do an AMAZING JOB! They work hard and serve their communities time after time with coat drives, back to school hair cuts with food and school supplies and etc. Name another barber shop that gives as much as these gentleman do!
