    "Five feet of fitness" setup
    Susie G.

This was our second stay at this Hilton and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff, upscale lobby with great bar and inviting seating areas, classy and comfortable room. This time we got a "Five feet of fitness" room which contains a plethora of exercise equipment. We were impressed with the selection, the quietness of the exercise bike, and the ease of being able to work out without leaving your room. We enjoyed drinks from the bar and the flatbread and whipped feta + naan appetizer were great. Room service breakfast was timely and tasty.

One year later, same dance competition here in the hotel. I am local so, in theory, I don't have to stay in a hotel. And now that I dance at a higher level, I don't start so early. But I opted to stay 2 nights anyway as part of the whole experience. A Thursday and Friday night. Checkin was 180 degrees different. First I was upgraded in the app and picked my room and got the digital key. But still thought I'd rather have a physical key in case something went wrong and I needed to get in fast and there was a line at the desk. The guy who gave me the key was SO NICE! He was chatty and friendly. He explained the different room types when I asked. He asked if I wanted water. He explained the $15/day amenity for Diamond members. He gladly gave me keys. It was like a different hotel experience! Wow! Although my room didn't really seem any different and a fellow diamond member got a corner room that was truly an upgrade. To make it worse, I just spent the previous 3 nights at a Hilton Canopy in Minneapolis that I wanted to move into. So I was spoiled and my opinion jaded. Let's just say it was standard. No frills. I liked the marble walls of the shower. Gym still has those stupid peloton bikes and no recumbent bike but it think it is a corporate decision (may I never meet the person who had this bad idea). Still no ball for abdominal exercises. Everything seemed to be in working order. It was too hot in there.

The T.V. in the room was on this loop when I arrived.

I'll start with this. Maybe it's just me? I realize hotels, in most cases, only clean rooms when you ask to preserve water and resources. I understand that and appreciate places like this that try to preserve precious resources. However, the lack of cleaning in the hallway was not appreciated as the hallway my room was situated in smelled of mold and mildew. I became violently ill when staying here (Room 320). I did contact the front desk and asked to speak to management to be moved but to avail. When staying here, I experienced nasal and sinus congestion and eye irritation that included itchy, red, watery eyes as well as coughing. The room did not have a microwave but had a refrigerator (not sure how that makes sense). Also, there were no water bottles provided, so I bought my own from Safeway.

I would give 3.5 stars but was disappointed enough that it's not 4 stars. The good: check in was easy and friendly. They gave me 2 bottles of water at checkin as well. the mini fridge in the room worked and made my bottles of water cold enough towels for my stay and the towels were clean the floor/carpet was clean. I walked on it barefoot bc I forgot my slippers and my feet and white socks did not show dirt the shuttle service was really great. Can request shuttle through their app to anywhere. We also were able to request a pick up from the restaurant. No extra charge, though I did give a cash tip to the drivers. The drivers were very friendly and accommodating. In fact, the app put us at the wrong pick up spot from the restaurant/mall but the driver wouldn't give up and found us! The not so good: The lobby and inside of the hotel is extremely dark and not clear where to go upon arrival the room could've been cleaner. Hair in the bathroom when I got there and blood in several spots on the sitting chair in the room. Didn't even look like anyone had tried to clean it. So I didn't sit there. the thermostat in the room didn't really work. It wouldn't go below 71, no matter how cold I set it to, so the room was too warm for me to sleep comfortably No alarm clock and no USB plugs. I have gotten used to having USB plugs in hotel rooms. My bad for forgetting all the converter plugs, but expect hotels to offer options Totally random, but bad placement of room service/breakfast marketing. I would've ordered something if I had seen it when I got to my room the night before. Lesson learned, check throughout the room for all papers upon arrival. Overall it was fine for a night's stay. It won't be my first selection if other hotels in the area are available, but not an awful backup for an overnight stay.

    Shower. Very nice.

I enjoyed my stay here. I had a king-size bed, very nice layout, modern and fresh. The desk is nice, lots of outlets, but zero USB-C connections, which every Android, new laptop regardless of brand, and all the new iPhones and other Apple stuff use. I didn't see the usual USB-A near the bed either. A dusty clock radio with the wrong time though was there. The room itself was clean. The shower rocked, modern, ditto on the bathroom. The hotel is very nice and on the day I checked-in they offered fresh popcorn or water infused with something which I found refreshing. I declined the popcorn. Staff was very professional and organized. Lots of hand sanitizer BTW which is GREAT. I mean thst pesky COVID thing is still hanging around. They have sanitizer stations at every elevator, I love that. I paid for the faster net speed, which I always recommend. The pp was just 4.95 a day, which is cheap. The speed, well, typical for a hotel..A whopping 15mbs. Zoom!! It was fast enough to stream, so that's all I care about. The one weird item was the chair in the room. It didn't belong. I am confident that it was found in an Antique shop, where they said it was from Dolly Madison's home and that Thomas Jefferson or his doppelganger sat in it.

Checked in last night to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. Upon walking in, absolutely beautiful. Spacious, well lit, and warm. There was a wedding taking place, always lovely to see. The room was a corner unit, 316. Not much of a view but the room itself was very spacious. Did our usual room wipe down/spray down on all furniture, fixtures, sheets etc. We went for dinner then came back to sit in the lobby and enjoy some wine and people watch (wedding watch) Went back to the room to sleep. Was woken up by my partner the next morning to come to the bathroom, there was a bedbug. We flipped the room to check the bed again and QUICKLY packed our belongings then to head to the front desk. We spoke with the manager and he mentioned EcoLab would have to come out to do an assessment of the pest to determine if it was truly a bedbug, he just was not too sure when they would be able to come out. He offered us another room but we asked to just check out. He mentioned a refund would not be issued, Ecolab results would have to determine if it was indeed a bed bug. It's unfortunate there is no real solution to this matter that would make anything feel better.

Great Hotel with great service. We took the hotel shuttle to the train station and then took the train to the Baseball Game. Awesome weekend and an awesome experience. I have over 2000 stays with Hilton and this one was great!

It's a great place in a very convenient location in McLean Virginia. I stayed here dozen times. Finally getting to writing a review. Parking is free. Outdoor parking lot. In front of the hotel. I believe it's also in the back. Rooms are nice and clean Very fresh and new looking. Nice restaurant downstairs. With lounge area as well. Hood menu and food. Front desk is always nice and polite. There is also a coffee shop that serves breakfast in the morning. Definitely a solid place to stay when traveling through the area.

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents - although, this isn't entirely based on hearsay…read morebecause I have stayed in this hotel a few times myself. As a family, we adore this particular Ritz Carlton in Tyson's Corner. It's probably our favorite hotel collectively - you can't beat the amenities, the service, the staff, and the location. My parents have consistently gone back to this hotel for a yearly weekend getaway consistently for nearly 20 years, continuing to choose that hotel despite the ever-changing landscape due to COVID. Therefore, it is with great disappointment that I write this negative review about this hotel because it has truly served us well over the years. My parents booked a weekend trip from November 14th through the 17th in celebration of my mom's birthday. Unfortunately, my mother came down with COVID-pnemonia that week, showing symptoms on the evening of Monday Nov. 12th with an official diagnosis by the evening of Tuesday Nov. 13th. Realizing that they could not travel under such conditions, my father canceled the booking for their weekend trip via the website on Wednesday, Nov. 14th. While he was able to cancel the trip, the company withheld a 500 dollar, non-refundable charge because it was 'not within the three day limit' as stated on their website. Now the problem here is this - what constitutes as three days? Are we talking a full 36 hours here or are we talking three days as counting by fingers? Because the trip was canceled Wednesday morning with a 4pm Friday arrival - Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are three days. I hate to cherrypick the Bible (although it is common practice these days), but if we're going by Jesus' rules, he died on a Friday afternoon and was resurrected on a Sunday morning, and it constitutes as three days by church law - but apparently, this timeline is not good enough for the Ritz Carlton. Believing this was unfair, my father called the hotel themselves and explained the situation - they are longtime customers, my mom was nearly hospitalized due to Covid, they had a doctor's note as proof, is there anything they could do to lessen this exorbitant cancellation fee? The staff's answer was essentially "apologies, but no." The staff said my father should have called the hotel directly instead of canceling it online and they could have done more for them, and that it actually wasn't three days but more like two and a half, and the charge would unfortunately stay. Now, we understand that hotels are subject to inflation and economic woes due to the state of the world, and some sort of penalty due to the cancellation is understandable - but let's look at the facts here. My mother was diagnosed with a highly contagious virus, and they did the right thing by canceling their trip a few days before as opposed to risking several people in the hotel. This was not a morning-of cancellation - this was a cancellation on Wednesday for a trip that technically wouldn't begin until check-in time at 4pm on Friday. Was there absolutely nothing the management staff could have done to rectify or soften this blow? If removing the fee was out of the question, there are other things the management could have done instead of saying "sorry, not sorry" about the 500 dollar charge. They could have offered a voucher, or a credit for rebooking a different weekend, or offered free dinner at one of their restaurants - something to make up for this loss. My parents would have accepted any of these things - because really, THEY are the ones missing out here - no trip, a terrible illness, and out 500 dollars because they did the right thing by canceling. To me, this is just poor business practice. It is important to reward loyal customers, and the Ritz-Carlton is supposed to be the height of luxury - and yet, apparently the 500 dollars is more important than maintaining a 20-year long relationship. It's truly disappointing. The irony is that the Ritz Carlton has a '$2000 rule' to make guests happy, but apparently they need my parents' 500 dollars in order to make this golden rule work for other customers.

The lobby was also vast and beautiful - I didn't get to explore as much as I would have liked! So the room was fantastic!
