Located very close to the Hauptbahnhof Köln. Had to wait rooms are done for us. Loved our room so much! When I opened huge thick dark wooden door, could see long windows. Famous Köln Dom was right there! Other old buildings also. Because of thick doors and well insulated long windows, couldn't hear any noises from outside. We slept sans curtains! Breakfast was super good. All kinds of German goods which I missed so much. Fresh Brötchen or dark German bread, salami, schinken, etc. all there! Famous Heumarkt was walking distance. We enjoyed last Weihnachtsmarkt there with super hot Glühwein! Other part of the cities Weihnachtsmarkt were closed. I still remember the early morning's church bell sounds. It was not loud. It was not bothering like alarm sound. In an unknown city unfamiliar hotel bed you woke up by the church bell sounds. Hilton Cologne near the train station and giant cathedral is my favorite hotel in all of Europe. As my humanitarian work calls me to Germany often, and the sad circumstances I must see for refugees, it's a healing treasure to be warmly welcomed at Hilton Cologne where my requests are met for personal care. For instance, I'm allergic to feathers and fragrances so housekeeping provides synthetic bedding and uses natural cleaning supplies. It also helps to be a Hilton Diamond member because there are perks, like view upgrades of the dome, and free breakfast. A few times I've enjoyed the split level condo suite with dreamy tub-- for you honeymooners out there, this is the room you want. It's its own castle. Be sure to order breakfast buffet downstairs, and ask for friendly, English-speaking serving host, Polat Dal who is extra helpful for seniors guests and those with mobility challenges. The hotels location is superior . The staff in the restaurant and at the front desk are very friendly. So far most everyone speaks different languages, including English. The fitness center is one of the nicest I've seen in the hotel in a while, including showers toilets, steam room & sauna. However, there is an offsite masseuse that comes in for massages. Walking distance to the train station so I don't know about parking. We are definitely just taking trains around Germany. Lots of eateries and things to see within walking distance, including two gorgeous cathedrals. We will explore more today. read more

Excellent Hilton and stayed there many times for weeks at a time and excellent location few minutes from main train station where I stayed and train ride to Leverkusen a short train ride . Hotel near all German restaurants,,brew halls and views of the Historic Cathedral center that is worth a trip just to see... hotel nightclub restaurant were a busy spot nightlife. The breakfast buffets selection all included in nightly rates was best I've seen with daily fresh local pastries, breads, fruits, eggs options, meats buffet, coffee etc... Parking isn't adequate for guests. Be prepared to drive around looking for parking. Front desk staff is unhelpful They hide the full price of the hotel from you when you prepay. This hotel was great! A 5 min walk from the HBF, walking distance to pretty much everything nearby. We tried to check in early but our room wasn't ready, so we checked our luggage and went and ate. The hard rock is about a 10 min walk, the chocolate museum about 15-20 and the Hohenzollern Bridge is right there too! Upon check in, I was given 2 tokens as a diamond member for drinks or snacks out of their pantry. You can always trade these in for drink coupons for the bar. We were upgraded to a deluxe room that was huge for European standards and had a mini fridge, giant tv, king size bed, giant bathroom with a separate tub and shower and a desk and chair. Breakfast was also included and it was a huge buffet that had build your own omelets, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, bread, fresh fruit, hash browns, yogurts, cold cuts and much more. It was delicious! We also were given 2 drink tokens for sparkling wine. I had a great stay and this hotel is in a prime location in Cologne! Would absolutely stay here again! read more

This Hilton has the best thing going for it: location, location, location! You can walk to the main train station in less than 5 minutes! Perfect if you are just spending a night or two in Cologne. The hotel is super close to the cathedral and the town's many Christmas markets (if you are there in November - December as we were). All of this and lots of shops, bars and restaurants are within a 5 minute walk. Our room was very clean and modern. The stark decor was very "German" and really fit in with the experience. The hotel was clean and modern too. The only complaints? The bed was pretty hard and the toilet used recycled rainwater, so there were some nasty, funky smells coming out of the bathroom. No matter, you could stifle the stench by shutting the bathroom door. I applaud the hotel for using reclaimed rainwater, but be warned that this level of environmentally-friendly effort comes with a bit of a stink. Also be aware that this hotel is smack-dab in a busy part of town. That means you'll hear lots of noise. Trains, buses, pedestrians and of course the very, very loud DING-DONG-DING of the town's many cathedral bells ringing in the early a.m. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. I found the church bell chimes charming but then again, I only stayed one night AND I had a 7 am train to catch. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the concierge was friendly and gave us some good recommendations for self-guided walking tours of the town and great places to eat. Watch out for the exchange rate scam. Hotel was fine - would have given them 4 stars, but then I noticed on the hotel bill after check-out that they pulled the exchange-rate scam - charged in usd and ended up padding the bill by 5%. They did not ask my my preference. I'm aware of this scam (ATMs do it sometimes), so I know not to agree to it. If you stay here (I will no longer give them my business since they pulled this scam) make sure you ask explicitly that they charge you in Euros (assuming you have a zero international fee card). read more

I stayed here for a week recently for a conference that I was attending in Cologne. This hotel is nice! most of the staff is very polite and courteous, and speak excellent English. The fitness center is superb, with a built in spa that i did not have a chance to try. The breakfast is quite good but pricey, and the rooms are very "modern" felling and quite spacious. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars, was because of the lack of information I was given during check-in. One example is parking. I had to get a ticket each day and pay at the front desk. On the third day, someone said "why don't you get it for the week", which I did, but was not told initially. It is located right near downtown, next to the Dom, and only 10 minutes from the convention center. read more

You won't be able to make out the clumsy furniture anyway because there isn't enough light in the room. The service is a little weak and seemed a bit disorganized. There is a nice bar attached to the hotel. Cannot comment on food as I did not eat here but would return to the hotel again if I wanted to see Cologne and wanted a convenient nice location to do it from. This is a very nice hotel in a location that is a four- or five-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof. The facility is rather large and quite well kept. The rooms are spacious and modern with contemporary decor. The service is efficient and the morning breakfast is rather good. My base AAA rate was €123.36. The final bill with all taxes applied was €138.60. This was very reasonable for the quality of my stay in my opinion. If you are on business in City Center Cologne, this is great choice. read more

New and clean Hilton right next to central station and the main cathedral. Check in was fast and easier if you do the online check in with the Hilton app. Hilton Gold elite get upgraded room of available and free breakfast buffet. The restaurant was closed but they setup a conference room for the breakfast and it was still very good. Cost for breakfast is usually $25 euros. Also gold elites get two drinks at bar or two "coins" to use for the SNAX takeout grocery selection which include things like water, potatoes chips, shaving cream etc. The rooms are clean and roomy. High 12 foot ceilings make the room seem bigger. Big privacy curtains. Bathroom has separate shower and separate tub. Bright and clean. Gym is big and clean. With Precor equipment. Free weights and also a separate yoga section. There is a sauna in the men's and women's locker rooms which looked smaller and didn't get a chance to use. Got the Hilton non refundable prebook rate at just $100/night after taxes for two nights. Good hotel but even better for Hilton elites read more

I guess the Hilton chain is more upscale in Europe, because the rooms and service were elevated two levels above what I am used at a standard Garden Inn or Double Tree in the US. Stayed here for New Years and was sorely disappointed. Problems: -Rooms are so warm! I played with the thermostat and all it did was make it warmer at every setting. My friends in another room had the same issue. -Expensive wifi. 20 euro a day?! -bed was hard and pillows were uncomfortable. -no views from any room -expensive parking -overpriced breakfast buffet (though it was a good breakfast, at 34 euros a head, I'd expect some fancier options) The hotel does have a great location near to the Koln cathedral and train station. Great hotel in a central location to Koln. We came to visit the city and sightsee for the weekend and this hotel was within walking distance to all the major landmarks. It's just a 2 minute walk from the main train station, so when you get out, don't worry about finding transportation. The rooms look like they've recently been redone in a very modern style. As far as European hotels, the rooms were quite spacious and ample for 2 people. Rooms have lots of plugs, heated towel rack, hot water kettle, hair dryer and high end toiletries. Seriously, Peter Thomas Roth is expensive in the US, so I was impressed. The showers were a bit small, but it was bright in there, so I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. There are minibars in each room, but we didn't use it. Wifi is only free if you're a Silver or Diamond level Hilton Honors member, and there is NO free wifi in public spaces :( The staff all spoke English, so we didn't have to worry about communicating in our terrible German. They were also very helpful with navigating train times, and making sure everything was taken care of. For 27 euros/day, there is a breakfast buffet or free if you're a silver or gold Hilton member. We opted to eat elsewhere since we did not have status, and didn't want to spend that much. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and were really pleased with this Hilton property. read more

Nice hotel just steps from the cathedral and the train station. The staff were friendly and pleasant and little mishaps (like bad air conditioning) fixed really quickly. The restaurant staff were pleasant but some had English that wasn't sufficient for the finer points of food service. Thankfully, they were very patient. The food was good. I could have done without everything being piping hot (I ordered a club sandwich because it was sweltering outside and the a/c in the hotel was not powerful), but the dish was quite nice anyway. While staying at the Hilton Cologne Hotel my iPhone and a 50 Euro bill were stolen from my closed luggage inside my locked hotel room. Hilton staff checked the room's key card log and verified that the only people that entered the room were authorized Hilton employees and me. The Hilton management staff smugly refused to do anything to acknowledge or resolve the theft. The cost of an iPhone hardly compares to the invasion of privacy I experienced and the knowledge that Hilton employees rummaged through my luggage. Should I have put my belongings in the safe? Of course. However, now I know that untrustworthy and unhelpful staff works here, and I will not return. read more

Horrible! Booked the hotel for a 1 day stay about 8 days from checking in. I tried to cancel the reservation next day as my business plans changed and the hotel refused to refund me my booking fee claiming they required 21 days advance cancellation for full refund. No where on the booking did this say that. The hotel customer service was completely unhelpful. Do not stay at Hilton Cologne. This is my first time at this Hilton, usually I stay at the Radisson Blu across the river which is great. I thought I would give this a try as I usually stay at Hilton hotel in the US. As for this one, location is great, rooms are clean and bed was hard. In room coffee was "instant" compared to the Nespresso at the Radisson. Internet access is 20 euro for 24hrs which is expensive. On my second night of a 12 night stay my backpack was stolen from the hotel bar. While this could have happened anywhere, it was the hotel management's absolute disinterest, avoidance and total lack of any kind of support or offer to help that has completely soured me not only on the Hilton Cologne but Hilton overall. I lost my computer, passport, personal documents and medication. I received a note from the hotel manager and an email from guest relations manager full of empty platitudes. All I wanted was an offer of help or support, but no contact from the hotel senior management. From sending me to the police station alone via the bartender (it didn't seem to matter to management that a guest was just robbed on their property) to any kind of follow-up, including having to figure out where to go and what I needed to get a temporary passport in Frankfurt, to replacement of personal items and medication. Twice I contacted corporate when the hotel staff continued to avoid me and not help me and twice they turned it back to the hotel to "turn it around while I was still on site." It is difficult enough to be a victim of robbery but to have it happen in a foreign country and get zero offer of support from the hotel management, when it happened on their property is unfathomable. And here I thought the Hilton name meant something, I could not have been more wrong!!! All I needed was to know that they were there to support me, but I got nothing but an empty apology and not face to face which was totally avoided. Please people, do not stay at the Hilton Cologne and see the brand name in a new light. One that doesn't care one bit about you and does nothing to help a customer in need out. Completely disappointed in the Hilton brand, back to the Marriott for me and I encourage anyone who reads to do the same. 20 years of extensive business travel and I've never experienced such outright neglect and arrogance!!!!!!! This is the first overtly negative review I have felt obliged to post ... I have had other travel incidents in some very small hotels and the management and staff have always been there and helped ... but for the Hilton I guess this isn't in their company values, guests be damned ...
