I feel like we really lucked out with this hotel and its location. It seemed central to everything we did in Cardiff. The two tours we schedule met up very close to the hotel so that was convenient. The hotel itself had a decent restaurant where they served a nice breakfast buffet each morning. Given we were there three nights it would be nice if they offered a little more variety each day. The executive lounge was small and it had free beer and wine in the evenings and a small sampling of appetizers. The rooms were quite large. The bathroom could use a little updating, The water would run hot/cold on its own. But nothing big. I would definitely stay here again, It is right across from the castle and one block from High street action. read more

After being told of a suite upgrade by the check-in supervisor, we were told to wait in the executive lounge. 2 hours later we were given keys to a regular room with executive lounge access with the reasoning of "that suite is no longer available". One of the main elevators was out of service for our entire stay over 4 days. The breakfast in Graze was very good with many food options and a friendly staff however dinner in Graze is quite different with staff that are inattentive or improperly trained as we sat ourselves at a table near the bar and we had to get someone's attention after sitting for 10 minutes. The executive lounge needs improvement with the addition of lite sodas and a variety of beers other than Budweiser! The food was subpar and unlike other executive lounges, there were no options for cocktails and only one option of red wine. Hilton Cardiff, it's time to up your game. This was our first time in Cardiff and the hotel made our stay so much better. For a week's stay, the junior suite was fantastic. The room was spacious with plenty of seating. It's location made walking around the city centre (and points beyond) very easy. The staff was very friendly and polite. The heat went out in our room one night, and we were quickly given a small heater which worked brilliantly. Hotel parking is not actually at the hotel. For parking you have to go down the street, and park in a very tight underground car park below the Capital Tower. It's not too bad unless it's raining and you have rush back to the hotel in the wet, cold rain. read more

Hotel is okay overall. Staff are friendly. No parking and no overnight reduced rates at the local RCP and NCP, so 25 pounds a night for that. (On the plus side the walk is fairly short). Elevators are pretty janky. A/C is fairly quiet but cannot be turned off completely. Ended up with slightly cold during the day and evening and slightly over warm in the middle of the night. Very frustrated by not being able to reduce my stay from four nights to three. Asked when I checked in but as I wasn't able to get my US based agency to call they would not allow it. Despite the fact that I had over twenty of my team members staying. Not even with a fee. Will not stay again. read more

I have traveled to Cardiff multiple times for work and the Hilton is my go to property. It is beautiful, clean, and conveniently located to the central city and across from the Cardiff Castle and allows for easy access to good food and bars. The rooms are pretty spacious considering most hotel rooms in Europe run on the smaller side. As a business traveler, the hotel has internet and a business center I can use when needed. The hotel is also close to the train station, and you can walk to and from it, but with luggage on stone walkways it is more of a pain and I happily pay the 10GBP to drop me off right in front. The hotel staff are extremely friendly, and helpful. They always have a friendly smile and are more than willing to help you get around Cardiff. If you are visiting Cardiff, I highly recommend this hotel as the price, service, and location make it a great deal. read more

Loved the location and the fact that they have valet parking (was fine on the roads with the reverse-side wheel rental car, but WAY more comfortable with someone else parking the car for me in a cramped city!) Directly across from Bute Park and Castle Cardiff, as well as surrounding arcades. Extremely convenient. Probably a bit pricy when compared with close alternatives, but honestly we were at the tail end of a week-long trip and I didn't think it was unreasonable given the location and amenities. Staff were extremely professional and friendly. We arrived before check-in do our room wasn't ready. Front desk couldn't have been friendlier. Took our bags and secured them, gave us a map of the city and some suggestions, then called us when our room was ready. After starting my recent trip overseas in a cramped little hotel room in England, the move to Hilton Cardiff was a relief. I can summarize this hotel up in three words: big and beautiful! The colors used in his hotel are light and bright, and the decor and furniture modern and comfortable. Not only that, but in my room at least my travel buddy and I could take advantage of a huge bathroom that contained a shower AND a bathtub. Seeing as many places are doing away with the tubs, we were delighted to find one in our room. And after walking here, there and everywhere while and Cardiff, we each soaked in that bathtub both nights of our stay. Not only is the hotel layout great, but the location is excellent - it's right by Cardiff Castle and is a quick stroll away from several of Cardiff's major streets and shopping areas. Add in the super friendly and helpful staff, who were more than delighted to answer questions as this pair of American tourists made plans for the weekend, and this hotel overall really impressed me. Sadly, few places are perfect. Hilton Cardiff's biggest weakness is their horrible wi-fi, which constantly booted my travel buddy and I offline and made it impossible to do much on our phones and tablets. Definitely not okay, especially when you consider the normal extra cost of said wi-fi (I believe in our case we received it for free as Hilton reward participants, thankfully). Unfortunately, we also happened to stay during a rugby match night, which meant as late as 10:30pm (and even a little later if I remember correctly) the hotel was alive with the sounds of yelling rugby fans. Sorry, but if you're going to open your doors to members of the screaming public, you need to invest in better sound proofing in your hotel. Otherwise it's 100% unfair to the guests who are paying to stay there, as far as I'm concerned. Still, the good here definitely outweighed the bad during my stay - I'd give them a 3.5 rating if I could, and I'd definitely consider staying here again in the future (as long as it wasn't during another big rugby match!). read more

I stayed in the Hilton Cardiff hotel and I really liked this place a lot! It is pretty much right in the Middle of everything and the rooms are large and have plenty of room to stretch out. The staff here are super friendly and take really good care of you when you stay here. Thankfully my room was ready early when I stayed here. I was able to check in and get changed to get to where I needed to go. They have a great executive lounge and I ended up eating most of my dinner in the executive lounge during my stay. The hotel is right across from the castle and you get some great views from inside. I highly recommend this hotel read more

The Hilton's fantastic city centre location - right opposite Cardiff Castle - is just one of its many selling points. It is right near all the main high street shops along Queen Street, and close to the city's lovely, historical arcades - plus it's within a short walk of the Millennium Stadium for big matches and concerts, and Cardiff Central train and bus stations. Its other selling points include the smart and welcoming reception area; the downstairs Razzi restaurant, which is open to everyone and serves up Welsh cuisine; and STEAM bar, also open to all and offering cocktails and tapas. Then there's the LivingWell gym and spa area, staffed by genuinely friendly exercise experts, with a warm 20-metre pool (suspended upstairs!), jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and well-equipped gym (with private membership available) - see separate reviews of this. In fact the only parts of the hotel I can't review are the actual hotel rooms, since I've never spent a night there, but I have spent plenty of time in Razzi and STEAM, have attended conferences there, and I was a former gym member (I only left because I moved too far away to walk there). With free wi-fi in the bar and restaurant, the Hilton also makes a good spot for informal business meetings over coffee or lunch, and also offers full conference and meeting facilities for bigger corporate events. Horrible Customer Care - Not Staying with Hilton Again We checked into this hotel on Thursday to discover we have no air conditioning because it's only blowing hot air. The front desk was annoyed with us notifying them and told us that they would give is a cheap desk fan and open our window. Two days go by and they still have no solution for our broken AC and now its 4:00 am and we just had to have front desk come into our room and lock our window because they have a special key to do so. We tried blocking it with our luggage and the ironing board but failed to do so due to the strong winds. Now we are looking at a ruined Saturday on our first weekend of our European vacation. I have stayed at plenty of Hiltons and this location is not Hilton worthy. I will be changing my loyalty to Marriott after this stay due to how absurdly horrible this experience is. I read some other Google reviews and someone else had the same problem. Very disappointed and will never stay at any more Hilton's nor recommend the chain. Here is the other Google review from 3 days ago: Experience with Hilton else where was great but not in Cardiff. I've booked a king room for the stay, room is good but the aircon in the room wasn't working. Considering the day was very hot, the room was stuffy and couldn't sit without aircon, forget about night sleep. I've complained but I've been offered a table fan or a twin room(plus complimentory drinks - seriously?) as they do not have any King rooms left. Aircon not working is not acceptable for a hotel brand like Hilton as the forecasted weather is hot, I would assume them to be properly maintained, for the premium amount they are charging per night. This building looks moderately grand from the outside, but I don't believe it does it justice. It's central location sees it sitting opposite Cardiff Castle, Bute Park and next to all the shops of the centre. Cardiff Student media use this venue every year for their awards ceremony and this is how I have experienced it. The event normally kicks off in the foyer where you can gaze and this grand building from the inside, where it seems a lot more spectacular. The lift always looks appealing as it is one of those where you can stare at the foyer as you make your way up. The event itself is held in a fairly large plush room, that is beautifully lit, making any event held here feel that little bit more special. The drinks are naturally pretty steep, so avoid this by paying the Steam Rock bar next door a visit, where it is a little cheaper. A great venue, but am yet to experience its bedrooms, maybe one day... read more

So it seems I have a bone to pick with hotels that charge a lot for the night but then still add on the extras at ridiculously inflated prices. With only being in Cardiff for one night, I thought I'd swap my usual Airbnb for a decent hotel and got a good rate on Agoda at less than half the usual price. While I couldn't fault the hotel for general ambience, style, location and friendliness of staff, plus they've a really good pool and gym - I still did spend £75 a night to be presented with a potential list of charges that seemed all out of proportion: Breakfast in the dining room the next morning? Yours for £17.95 Wifi Access for 24 hours (minimum time) £12.95 750ml of bottled water in my room? £3.95 While I understand charging for breakfast and water, these prices still seemed off the chart and how can a hotel charge so much in this day and age for wifi when it should come as complimentary (like it does in much cheaper hotels) and treated like a necessity like running water in the bathrooms (especially with a lot of customers travelling from afar and potentially roaming at great cost)! Personally I love the balance of staying in Hotels and Airbnb, but sometimes the extras and service of an Airbnb far outstrip that on offer from the household name hotels which charge many times the price for a place to lay your head. I'm pretty sure the Conrad Hilton I know from Mad Men would agree with me and do something about it! read more

We paid 462 pounds sterling for ONE NIGHT during the All-Blacks/Wales international weekend. Seems the AB team was staying here. The total just for the room cost more than 1,100 pounds sterling. We stayed for almost a week a couple of weeks previously and the while stay cost about the same. Same kind of room (a junior suite - more on that later). Cost aside, during both stays (maybe because we had a junior suite) our room faced the street. There are several bars/clubs next door and the noise was literally all night, especially on the Friday's and Saturday's. On top of that there were emergency sirens blaring, seemingly several separate times through the night. That is not the fault of the hotel, but the lack of soundproofing is. Just awful. To add insult to injury, the bathrooms are very dated, the toiletries were meagre and not topped up (or in the case of the bodywash, just missing) and we couldn't get room service to pick up after THREE times, so had to go downstairs to order. Stains on the carpet, no bathrobes in the first stay, bathrobes in the second and the same style of room - did they just forget. Long hair in the bathroom - did they just clean the surfaces superficially? Room service arrived (chicken tikka masala), poor quality, took 20 mins, no lid on top and therefore lukewarm. That came with a 5 pound 'tray charge'. It was enough to make even the most reasonable person explode. The valet parking is no longer available, but you have to park yourself in the block next door. Directions to enter after hours are poor and they didn't mention there is a code on the key pad to access it. Nor mention the key pad is pretty impossible to see in the dark from the entry way. I did mention concerns to the manager the first time around and did it in a constructive way with some possible fixes, which I know he appreciated. But second time around was even worse. Taking my ability to pay a lot elsewhere where at least they offer room service and where I can sleep at night, vs. neither of those things in a hotel. Have read the other reviews and of course we all have different experiences. Not sure any of them were on international weekends, when the hotel is inexplicable full. Maybe because the guest have never stayed here before during an international weekend. They are utterly stretched and clueless when fully booked and on international weekends. And remember, this is when they have charged more than a THOUSAND POUNDS for 2 nights. Seems the more you pay, the worse the service. An absolute joke and disgrace. Never, ever, ever staying here again. So now am trying to get to the gym. It is meant to open at 8am. Just told it is reserved for the rugby team from 8-10.30am and to come back at 10.30am. I will have checked out by then. This is appalling. They have done everything for the team staying here and zero for paying guests. I am beyond angry. If a guest will be unable to use the gym, the hotel should let them know beforehand. The hotel knew this would be a very busy weekend and they knew they would be hosting the rugby team here. So they should add more temporary staff or not book as many rooms to the public if they cannot offer service that would be expected and more than expected for such a price. This is totally terrible management during a surge. read more

First time to Cardiff, was here for work. I travel all over and I can say this was the best Hilton I have ever stayed anywhere. Everyone was polite, friendly, helpful and all around pleasant. The gym is nice, a little small, but has everything you need. The bar is nice and drinks are fairly inexpensive. All the ladies at check-in we're extremely polite and helpful. Especially Ms. Rosie, I forgot my key multiple times and she was always helpful and greeted me with a smile. Great experience. read more

This is an absolutely fabulous hotel and I had a fantastic time here. When I checked in the service was excellent - really fast, professional but still friendly. Going to my room, I was impressed by all of the decor. Getting INTO my room, I loved it even more! The bed was fantastic - saggy hotel mattresses are not okay - and I flopped onto his with a feeling of absolute bliss. The breakfast the next morning was also really good. The whole was spotlessly clean and because of it's location it is ideal for people staying for rugby, for nights out, for culture. For anything! read more

I didn't expect much from this little Hilton in the little town of Cardiff. However they surprised me! Service was really good. Rooms were the usual. Larger certainly than most hotels in Europe so that was nice. Room service kept forgetting an item every time I ordered something but they were nice. Food was ok. What was such a pleasant surprise (and should have been clearly promoted at the hotel that it was available) is that they had massage services. I had to ask to find out but they did have them. I was so surprised! And my therapist was wonderful and on top of it the price was a bit cheaper than the U.S. Shocking. Usually it is about twice as much for a hotel...but to have it cheaper than my local folks is unreal. So that alone bumped up my rating to a 4. read more

Just back from 4 sleepless nights in Cardiff after staying at the Hilton. The club opposite kicked off about midnight until 4 or 5 am, then the shouting, screaming and hollering started. Once that had died down the church clock 1km away was audible with a full chime on the hour and quarter. Seriously if you want a good nights sleep then don't stay in room 420. You can't open or close the window, it's just inadequate double glazing. Apart from that it was OK, except you have to report to the person holding the clip board when you want breakfast and they seat you. I've never encountered this before. I guess some of the unwashed from outside have sneaked in for a bite to eat and they can't tell their guests apart! Ver vill you zit!! read more

I have always wandered past this glorious looking building and peeked inside turning green as i did so. I mean, the sheer look of this place makes you want to head in and scout celebrities or even pretend you are one. And then my turn came to stay in possibly the plushest hotel in Cardiff. This place is seriously special and I even started flicking my hair whilst off to my room a little affected. Then when I got into my room; wow wee! The bed was like heaven on a mattress and I was a little weirdly impressed with the bathroom, but as I've said previously I am a little prone to a nice pan. Service in the Hilton is literally second to none, i really cant elaborate on that. The food is amazing, especially the breakfasts! The swimming pool and jacuzzi were a plus point for me, any type of water (apart from leaks) indoors makes me a happy bunny. There's a few places to eat and drink the Razzi restaurant being one of my favourites because of the floor to ceiling windows that allow you to look out at the minions on the street; ha, ha, ha! The only experience I have had of this hotel is eating lunch in the hotel restaurant a few months ago, unfortunately it was not a good experience, the staff were moody and grumpy and I don't think I saw one smile, the food was cold and well over priced! This is a very nice moden hotel. Our executive-floor room was large, quiet and very comfortable. The location is excellent: right by the castle, the museum, and the main shopping area! Richard had the breakfast and thought it was a rip off. Lovely swimming pool which is warm and pleasant and of considerable length to get some exercise. Also a sauna and steam room. This really makes the hotel. Flashy lobby but perhaps a bit soulless. Central and very convenient location for the castle, shopping centres and Bute Park. I would recommend. Excellent location in the centre of Cardiff right next to the Cardiff Castle and other attractions. 1/2 mile from Cardiff Central train station. Hotel is slightly dated but room and all furnishings within were in good condition. All staff I came into contact with were excellent, very attentive and professional. Hotel also has a very good Health Club facility which includes a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms. I stayed in the hotel on Easter Sunday for which the room rate was quite reasonable (£110), it can probably be somewhat more expensive I would imagine at more in-demand times. read more

Note: This is a review of the gym not the hotel I am a member of the gym in the Hilton and it's pretty good. Easy to find location on several bus routes with good new membership offers. I got a free massage when I signed up and my partner got one as well, as well as one months free memberhip and no joining fee. It is a little on the small side but has a sauna, steam room and jacquzi. Could do with more CV machines as gets a bit busy early in the evening. read more

Stayed here when going to an event in the international arena / motorpoint. Room was really nice, not overly priced when you consider the other hotels nearby. Food was good too. Location right in the centre of town is perfect. The only gripe if there is one was the price of drinks in the bar. They were well over the odds but I suppose that is to be expected. Parking is good value and very handy. All in all I would recommend and happily stay here again. Probably wouldn't order quite as many large glasses of dry white wine next time though! read more

This hotel is a dump. I booked one room and upon arriving they gave us a room with two king beds. The phones on the room didn't work. The Internet was shoddy. The room also had mildew in the bathroom and smelled terrible. It's a very pricey hotel, several hundred dollars a night. Yet it's the kind of place that should cost you about 80.
