This Hotel is absolutely beautifully done inside. I came here for a Christmas party this year, and have to say wasn't entirely impressed. Although the interior design was gorgeous, not so great for a Christmas party when compared with, say the Marriott for example.
Was greeted on entrance and told where to go, then our coats were hung up and then were greeted with a glass of Pimms. This was all very nice, but when we eventually went through to the other room for Dinner, and the tables had crackers with very very poor gifts, balloons to blow up, party poppers, party streamers, party blowers, Christmas hats, and glitter top hat containing all the goodies. We had fun with these.
FOOD-
Three of us had ordered a vegetarian starter (which was goats cheese and onion in a small pastry cup) on one of our tables and were still waiting when everyone else had finished their food. Then there was the soup, if you want to call it that, it was not even an inch thick from the bottom of the bowl and had a lump of bread in the middle with bits of veg and chick peas. The main course was processed mashed up and stuck back together chicken wrapped in bacon with wet stuffing inside, slightly roasted but not crisp hard uncooked potato's, few carrots, few sprouts and gravy. Still the vegetarian option did not receive the meal until halfway through the party had finished theirs and was a microwaved vegetable pasty with a few carrots a few sprouts and a two hard slightly roasted potato's, bu no sauce and no gravy (DRY). We asked if there was some sauce that went with it as it was very dry and was told no but the chef could make one up. They finally brought it out, but everyone there had finished their main course and its not so great eating alone. The dessert was the same pastry cups used in the starter filled with a thick chocolate center with orange sauce and a white chocolate mousse thing, this was ok only it should have been in different case as we had already eaten that one in the starter. Then followed by tea coffee and mince pies.
The dance floor was tiny i don't know how they expected everyone to dance on there! but most people seemed to be having a good time although there want enough room for everyone to mingle and some people were sat down some were in the champagne bar and the other bar. I think the party should have been a bit more restricted to a certain part and a bigger part of the hotel.
The drinks were reasonable for a hotel.
The women toilets were absolutely bogging by halfway through the night covered in toilet paper toilets blocked and right to the rim full of toilet paper and peoples s*. Disgusting.
I am sure this is a lovely hotel to stay in as it is beautiful but sorry not tops for food or service here at a Christmas party. read more
