    Grilled Chicken Sandwich (1/2)
    Isabella T.

I recently stopped by Hilltop with a friend to grab coffee and some food. I usually love this place to get AM coffee because I really like the flavor and strength of it as well as the friendly service. This was my first time trying food from the grill and they have a bunch of different options such as hot subs, breakfast items, deli sandwiches, burgers, some salads. Since it was a Sunday around noon I decided to get a an everything bagel sandwich with egg whites, cheese, and avocado. The bagel was nothing out of this world in terms of quality but had a good flavor and was toasted nicely. I thought the egg whites were very well cooked since they did not feel soggy or oily which I find is usually the problem when getting eggs on a bagel. They put generous amounts of cheese which was exactly what I needed as my Sunday morning splurge and also added a nice amount of green and fresh avocado. It was very good! I think getting a bagel sandwich at an actual bagel place is definitely better but for the sake of convenience if you happen to be in the area and do not want to go to far, this is pretty acceptable and filling. My friend got the grilled chicken sandwich which looked very good and he enjoyed it! Next time would try one of their hot sandwiches as those seem to be very popular and the menu is extensive. Also, fun fact, they have some seating available inside behind the counter which I had no idea about until this weekend which is spacious and clean. Their lunch buffet is also pretty good, at least as of last time I had it which was a year ago. Will come back again to try other items and continue getting my occasional cup of coffee on the go!

This is a small coffee shop situated in the lobby of the Mailman Building of Columbia University. First off, it's very convenient for me since I work in the same building. The usual staff is very cognizant of everyone needing to get in and get out. They make an effort to remember the regulars' orders. In the morning you can get bagels and oatmeal. For lunch they have a limited but fresh selection of pre-packaged sandwiches, pasta and quinoa salads. They also offer a variety of soups, yogurts and beverages, including coffees and teas. Everything is fresh and has a rapid turnaround time since they are a satellite of the main brick and mortar location a couple of blocks north of the building.

I ordered delivery this morning for brunch. Western omelette was a bit cold. It seem not worst the price $7 and taste was an okay. Mexican steak sandwishes was good , a lot of meat but it's not reach an idea of cheese steak sandwiches. Let's say this place is ok ... not good not bad. I saw they have a buffet but since we are on this pandemic so i might wait for a while to visit this shop by myself.

A staple of any Columbia University Medical School student or faculty experience, Hilltop Perk is the go to cafe, deli and corner grocery on Haven Ave. Perfect for an on the go breakfast or lunch, Hilltop boasts a deli sandwich station where you can order egg sandwiches, omelets, hero's, burritos, quesadillas among other things. In the back is an buffet during the week for both breakfast and lunch with things like sushi, guac, mac and cheese, etc. Both the sandwich station and buffet have a ton of options and are fairly reasonably priced. The grocery section has a decent amount of variety and is a little bit more pricey than going to a grocery store, but it saves you the walk if you live next door. The assortment of asian foods including pre-made dumplings and sauces is a nice touch. There is some seating if you want to eat or drink your coffee inside. Definitely 5/5 stars!

    Toasted Monte Cristo Sandwich

This place is definitely a place you'd pass right by and not even know a store exists behind the doors! This deli is off to the side but it's worth coming to see what it's all about! My friend usually gets the items off the hot bar, she says the quality is better in the morning so I will have to go back and check it out then! They have all sorts of pasta, rice, and chicken dishes. They also offer a salad bar and interestingly enough, sushi. I came in around 5pm and nothing on the hot bar really interested me but I did get a Monte Cristo from the grill! I loved the sandwich; there's was a good bread to meat ratio and overall a not too heavy meal. The prices are alright. It's not expensive but it's also not cheap in comparison to other choices. All in all, a good place to try if you're in the area!

    Not so Italian combo.
    Eugene K.

Let me start by saying this is a review on their Italian combo sandwich only. First, at least they got the ingredients right; ham, salami, prosciutto(that's why I went there), provolone, lettuce, tomato, roasted red peppers, oil and vinegar. But coming in at almost $9 with tax, this sandwich was a pitiful example of an Italian combo. An Italian combo is supposed to be big but this was super skimpy. It had 2 slices of ham, 3 slice of salami, 2 slices of prosciutto and 2 slices of provolone. All of it cut so thin that you couldn't taste anything and served on the spongiest hero bread ever. I can't speak for the rest of their offerings but would never order that(or any) sandwich from there again.

OMG get the Taiwanese beef noodle soup you will not regret it! They serve it from 2-8 pm Monday through Fridays! Their food is always fresh and delicious. They have a great selection of hot food to choose from for lunch, you pay by weight. And every time I come here I'm enticed by their great selection of sweets and snacks! They also serve stumptown coffee :)

Buffet option isn't open during the weekends.

Probably the best brussels I have ever had in my life and I'm not even that much a fan of the veggie. I've ordered the salt/brown sugar latte twice now. The first time, I got it iced and it was extremely salty and just wasn't a good latte at all. This time around, I ordered it hot and asked them to ease up on the salt since last time it was very salty, they eased up on it and it was such a great latte, I was so happy with it! I've gotten the chicken and waffles twice as well! I'm a big fan of guava infused butter and got two with my order. Generally the chicken and waffles are a HIT, but the waffles tasted a bit off to me this time around. I think it could mainly be that I was focused on how surprisingly good the brussels and coffee were, that I wasn't too focused on anything else. Service is pretty ehh to me at this place. Love that so far each time I've gone at different times and during different seasons, it's never too packed. Even when it is, it doesn't feel like it. I have not tried the dinner, just the brunch! Brunch is def a go too, can't wait to go again! Also, have not had a cocktail here, but looking forward to trying to hibiscus mule next!

In the front area, it is a normal cafe vibe with comfy and utilitarian seats. In the back, there is a lounge vibe, I am not of the exact WiFi password but it is something like no laptops in the backroom. I also noticed a sign today that said no laptops after 5 pm in this area which is the standard cafe area not the back room. Over the past two years, the backroom has definitely expanded to have a bar. Food/Drink: We have had a various drinks, lattes hot and cold. The Bourbon Pecan Latte is a long time special and favorite. They take their time to make high quality drinks and put them in mugs if you are eating in. They also heat up the food items. The Parisian, Turkey, ham and Swiss on a croissant was good with their cruller and pistachio croissant. We also tried the Cardamon bun too Service: The level of friendliness at this place feels elusive because there are some regulars who get a warm welcome since we are irregulars and stop by from time to time. They are kind of Brooklyn-type friendly which is welcoming and kind but at the same time cool in a hipster utilitarian way which is not a negative way of looking. It is what it is. Overall: I am a huge fan of the vibe and energy. The backroom is the star to relax with your drinks and food. They also seem to have events at night which sound cool.
