Happy after visit with Dr. Hardin !

I brought my dog here for his annual visit and found it to be welcoming and thorough. The vet, Dr Hardin, answered all my questions, was caring and empathetic. While not as talkative as I he knew his stuff and answered all of my questions and helped me understand things going on with my dog- from medical to behavioral. I'd recommend Dr Hardin for your pet needs.

I was skeptical after reading the reviews about this place but what do you do during the CoronaVirus outbreak of your fur baby is hurt and in pain. You wait and hope the reviews aren't accurate. Well we were told the visit would be $75 and they would advise us of any additional costs... well it was 10pmish on a weekday and our baby had hurt his arm. So we cake here to be charged $120 for a checkup and a pain shot. To be told he would be fine. It's been 5 days and our baby is still limping some... but seems to be ok. We did wait 3 hours in our car in the heat and were able to leave with some peace of mind. My opinion is come here ONLY if you have no choice but to. If you are able to wait to the morning wait.

This is going to be long but it needs to be said in hopes that it doesn't happen to someone else's fur-baby. My mom's 15 year old cat had a stroke and we made the difficult decision to have her put to sleep so she would not be in anymore pain. Her back legs had given out on her so it was definitely the most humane decision. Sophie (the cat) was terrified of leaving the house and of vets. My mom and I both have use Hillside previously so felt confident that they would be kind and take good care of her. My mom brought her in and the front girl put them in a room and took Sophie to go have a catheter put in. I should mention that the guy that took her had zero personality and handled Sophie like she was a bag of trash. This is where the nightmare begins. 25-30 minutes pass by and still waiting. My mom finally goes out front to see what the deal is and the front desk girl hurries her back into the room and says to use the buzzer if needed but to not leave the room. At no time did this girl ever mention the buzzer before. She casually mentioned that they were having a very difficult time putting in the catheter which was very upsetting as we did not want Sophie to be in further pain. Also while visibly shaken up waiting in the room, you could hear the front desk girls giggling the whole time. After 20 minutes more, I said let's just get Sophie and go somewhere else. Knowing she is terrified of the vets and in pain, we were horrified thinking of what was happening to her for almost an hour. Just then a vet tech comes in to say that Sophie had bitten another tech while holding her. So since she was not up to date on Rabies vaccine (she has been a strictly indoor cat for 15 years) that they were going to need to charge $150 rabies test for the tech and my mom was responsible for the cost. Meanwhile Sofie is in obvious distress and has both of her front paws shaven from them trying to put this catheter in. She was clearly terrified and in pain. At this point we just wanted Sophie to have some peace. The vet proceeded with the first shot to sedate her in the catheter (used her back leg). Several minutes go by and she is still in distress. The catheter was not inserted properly so after over an hour of them terrorizing her trying to put this in, the vet ended up using a butterfly needle to make the injections which finally worked. Poor sweet Sophie was gone buried in my moms arm from being so frightened. So after over an hour of them taking Sophie away to try this painful catheter, it was not even used at the end. By the way, throughout this whole time you could hear the girls at the front laughing. This was such a horrific experience and so traumatized knowing our poor Sophie suffered unnecessarily before being put to sleep. I'm not sure what happened to Hillside but they need a serious overhaul. My mom will never use them again and I will not for our fur babies either. I will tell anyone who will listen to avoid this place as well as wouldn't want anyone to go through this. The guy who took Sophie back, needs to be fired. A requirement should be that you like and respect animals, not treat them and their owners like garbage. The girls at the front need to be mindful and understand it is super inappropriate to be laughing and cutting up when you have people there losing their family members. I am just so completely disgusted by this and the people that put my poor mom and Sophie through such a horrific ordeal.

R I P~Maddie Girl Best Cat EVER! Les called you a Cog, cause you were a cat with a dog's heart. You came into our hearts in 2005. You were sent by God on a cold December night when we had just lost out sweet Westie boy, Brutus, a few days eariler & it was around my birthday. You were much needed & wanted. You preferred to sit on Daddy's lap, cause he's the allergic one, lol, but always sat at Mommie's feet. You only liked fish favored cat food, especially salmon. Pool water was the Best Water except when it came from the bird bath. You loved your 2 silly dogs Grady & Georgia, who too often made you receive wet dog kisses. You were always one regal, color coordinated cat with your amber eyes that matched your fur. Dinner on the patio having Family Time will never be the same, it will now be called Maddie Time. Love you Maddie, in our hearts Forever! Maddie, You set the bar so high no other Cat can ever reach it. The care you received from Hillside Vet was Outstanding! Upon coming into the room with my Maddie in her cardboard coffin the sweet young tech informed me she drew a tiny little heart so we would know where Maddie's Head was resting. You can see in the picture. Les & I always bury our fur-kids with one of their favorite toys or a memorable object. Maddie's is the fabric from her cushion, from her chaise lounge chair she used to sun on, & she is buried behind our shed where she would also nap & sun on an old flower pot. R I P Maddie Girl. Thank You Hillside Vet for your kindness to Maddie!!! oxo

She clearly takes a pro-active approach and advocates for all her clients. We were referred to MedVet by Dr. Kevin Donnelly due to an infected tooth root abscess that was affecting Donny's right eye. Dr. Sturbaum and the tech were in the room to address any questions and concerns and he was immediately able to be taken for a ct scan to determine what, if anything, was wrong. He had to be dropped off for those few hours and picked up before the end of the day. Dr. Sturbaum was in constant contact with me regarding Donny. I promptly received a phone call with all her updates and findings. His biopsy came back as nasal adenocarcinoma less than a week later. Dr. Sturbaum called me with those results as well and said since MEDVET does not have a radiation oncology unit at their facility, that Donny would be transferred to VCA Dallas Specialty Hospital. She immediately informed them of Donny and less than a week later, we were already scheduled for an appointment. The nasal adenocarcinoma turned out to be localized and Donny received SRT for three days in March at VCA Dallas. He was doing so well with his radiation treatments until he suddenly and unexpectedly declined the morning of May 1, 2026. He couldn't walk very well. He was not interested in eating. He had IMTP and a ct scan showed little tumors in his abdomen, spleen, and perforations in his colon, an indication that the cancer had metastasized throughout his body. We made the extremely difficult decision to end Donny's suffering by giving him one final send off over the Rainbow Bridge late Friday night on May 1st, 2026. The staff at VCA Dallas were compassionate, kind, and caring. They let us spend as much time as we needed with Donny after his transition. If it wasn't for Dr. Sturbaum and her speedy referral to VCA Dallas, Donny would not have been in the best possible place at the time he needed urgent medical attention and end-of-life care. We are heartbroken, and the grief comes in waves. Dr. Sturbaum - you are an Angel. Thank God for people like you. Your deepest and heartfelt condolences mean so much to us. We received your sympathy card and will always remember the lasting impact you had on Donny's life.

I was given two options: either come back in 4-6 weeks or move forward with a $6,000 surgery. There was no real explanation or middle ground offered, which left me feeling confused and overwhelmed. If this was bone cancer and had metastasized to his lungs that 4 to 6 week mark, he would've been dead. I asked about doing CT scans first, but I felt heavily pushed away from that option and toward immediately opening my dog up for surgery. After deciding to proceed with the scans, I dropped my dog off only to later find out their CT machine was not working. I had to drive over 20 miles there and back just to pick him up, then return again the next morning to drop him off a second time. After all of that, I waited four days for results after paying nearly $4,000 for the CT scans. When the doctor finally called, she told me my dog did not have cancer, which was an incredible relief. What upset me most, though, was hearing her then say she "wasn't even worried about it." After being pushed toward such an invasive and expensive surgery, that comment made me feel like my vulnerability and fear for my dog were taken advantage of unnecessarily. Thankfully, I had guidance from a vet tech at my regular veterinarian's office who helped point me in the right direction. I am beyond grateful surgery was not needed, but this entire experience left me feeling emotionally exhausted, financially stressed, and deeply disappointed. I do not suggest this place. They will make you pay for everything and anything at the highest price.

I would highly recommend Dr. Novikoff and the team at Revive in Prosper to anyone needing emergency veterinary care. Thank you for taking such good care of our boy Zeus.

This place was more than amazing. I took my dog here because he was very sick. They rushed us right…read morein and got to work immediately. They did everything in their power to help my baby. I ended up having to put him down but the staff was with me every step of the way and let me spend as much time I wanted with him before we let him go. Dr. N and Angie were angels. I couldn't thank them enough for helping me with all of this.

We took our dog Florence on Thursday night for an acute allergic reaction and was immediately seen…read more(thankfully there were only 1-2 other pets there). Everyone seemed very eager to help and made th process smoothe. We liked the open concept because we were able to see the care provided not only to our dog but to the other pets as well. All of the staff worked as such a great team, and the communication between them seemed flawless. We were seen by Dr. Majors, and our tech was Hannah. Both of them were very reassuring and treated Florence like their own. VEG is a very pet family oriented vet, seeing us as a whole and not just a couple people with an animal. When it came time for the price, we were met with such nice transparency, and the DVM was honest with what she recommended and did not try to make us agree to anything that was unnecessary while also making sure we had the option to take all the tests if we so desired. I would absolutely recommend this emergency vet. We have been to another in Carrollton which did not come close to the level of care we experienced here. Thank you!

On April 1, 2026, my 11-year-old French Bulldog, Mica, woke up at 4:15 a.m. in a full-blown…read moreseizure. Horrified beyond measure, I scooped my baby up and jumped into the car to seek medical attention. We have a number of veterinary ERs that have popped up around our McKinney neighborhood, but I opted to risk the extra drive to get my baby into the care of VEG in Allen. While I had never experienced their emergency services, I had experienced their customer service once before--when I had the misfortune of losing her brother on Thanksgiving Day in 2024. We found this place by chance after being treated very coldly and callously by another establishment, which led us to VEG. That experience stuck with me, and thank God it did. In both instances, they treated me and my family with respect, compassion, and great care. Mica had three more mini seizures while in their care, and the staff was immediately on top of it. They were very upfront and clear in their communication, making sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. This allowed me to make informed decisions. It was my biggest fear that I would walk into a grave prognosis--which, on paper, it was documented as such: "grave to guarded." Be that as it may, I truly feel they gave my baby the fighting chance that saved her life. Not once did they bring up euthanasia, and thank goodness, because I don't think my heart could have handled it. I prayed to God to let her see her 12th birthday, which was the very next day, April 2--and sure enough, we made it. She is now 96 hours post-seizure, with no additional episodes since. We were prescribed and provided a rescue dose of midazolam in the event of another seizure, and should it happen again, you can guess where we'll be going. Thank you, specifically, to Dr. Majors, Taylar, and Walter. I am forever grateful for how you cared for us that day. You rolled up your sleeves and sprang into action. May you all serve as the example for how services like this should be rendered. From kissing my baby's forehead, to accommodating all of our needs in such a stressful moment, to sitting on the floor with us--it was all noticed and deeply appreciated. Happy Easter, and thank you again for the gift of a second chance at life.
