Didn't charge me, even after I insisted because I know diagnostics take time and knowledge. He insisted on not having me pay, in exchange for letting him know what the dealership says so he can fix it in the future. Nothing but praise from me. 6/5 stars.

This was the first repair that was needed outside of my warranty and outside of VW. These guys were honest and straightforward about what was wrong and the cost and the recommendations they provided. They were responsive and communicated to me about the timeline in which it would be completed, when the part was delayed a day, they made sure I knew and I never had to call them for an update. That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.

I felt absolutely no pressure from him. Allan would also be answering the phones and I was able to talk to him a couple times. Both mechanics KNOW THEIR STUFF!! Both do not pressure, are so very welcoming and friendly and most importantly are honest. Allan and my family share a love for the Seahawks as we are all from Washington State "GO HAWKS"!!! Brad stepped in and was confident that he could get it much lower which he kept to his promise, there was one added service my O2 sensor that was not quoted in the initial quote but that's because I was only giving Brad all the information that Big O Tires gave to me and Brad went off of that and gave me a much lower quote. Even with the added service, Master AutoTech was approximately 1200 lower than Big O Tires. I will forever be a customer here. He broke it to me that the car required more repairs than it was worth, and that my current shop was not doing a good job at maintaining my car. Maybe he felt bad for me, maybe he wanted to make a show of good faith, but he didn't even charge me for the diagnostic in that instance. I ended up selling that car for scrap and eventually buying a new car. I brought the new car in for a pre-purchase inspection and WOW, Jessy and his team really showed their true colors on how thorough they are! They checked absolutely everything. They even checked the cabin air filter because he told me that a rodent had built a nest in it. They found things that other shops had missed. Is there such a thing as being too thorough? Jessy might be! But I'd rather have my auto shop be extremely thorough and triple check everything rather than be sloppy and miss things. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality is obvious, right down to how they require appointments for their shop. They want to make sure that every single car gets the attention it needs. I can't recommend Mike Palmer enough and even though I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, I will make the trek to come back here for my auto repairs and recommend them to all my friends. Jessy is a truly honest mechanic who just wants to help you do your best to maintain your car. How do I know? They're not trying to make money nickel and diming you on easy fixes. Feeling obligated to accept their job, but didn't. They said I needed a whole new radiator and thermostat. Worst-case scenario, already knowing what it could possibly need, but wanting a diagnostic from a shop to guarantee. As a single special needs parent, I have no time to work on my vehicle or get a sitter. I checked myself and found they didn't even clamp my hose to the radiator, as if they didn't even check it in the first place. Ran leak tests myself after fixing the issue and have zero leaks now. Saved myself a $900 job that I declined. Lost $100 from their "coolant leak diagnosis". I've gone here before and thought they were "trust worthy".

It was recommended I get my car towed to a mechanic and no help or compensation was offered. Big shout out to the discount tire team for the great job!
