At the motel, we found the manager as nice in person as on the phone. I asked her what her hours were, she smiled and replied 24/7. The room was very clean and updated. We just left an upper end chain hotel several states away. My daughter, who has high standards, said she liked her room at the Bel Aire more.

About 10 minutes pass and we have already got the kids in the beds and one of them had also discovered half the floor was soaking wet from the A/C unit. She comes to the room and lets us know there is no rollaways and they do not carry them. Absolutely the opposite of what the reservation lady told me. She said she was told she could offer us a different room with a pull out sofa bed in it and we agreed. She asked if we messed up the beds... of course we did! Then told us if we did switch rooms now she would have to charge us for two rooms for the night because they couldn't resell the room. I asked her if she would sell the room knowing it's soaking wet on the floor for half of the room? She said if someone was desperate enough we would let them know. WHAT?!? And it's pretty close to midnight by that time. To top it off there were mosquitoes in the room. It's disgusting this company treats people like this. Will never stay at a Howard Johnson again.

Indoor pool is not too large, spa and pool seemed clean and there is a shower and sauna plus they had a large stock of pool towels. Hotel was full yet we never heard any noise from guests. Continental breakfast basic: they had a huge container of fresh boiled eggs, you can make a Belgian waffle, toast bread, bagels, or English muffin. No yogurt. It's free with room and you can fill up enough to tide yourself over for awhile. You can walk across the parking lot for a fairly decent grocery store, there is a restaurant- they do serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner (we had packed our own food), and the Last Chance Saloon which has, oh glory of Texas glories, Shiner Bock beer on tap! There is also a gift shop filled with clothing, shoes, books, and tchotchkes. There is a pretty little pond that kids can fish in and will catch one as you can see the fish and fish come swimming up looking for a treat. Looks like perch. Little play area, gazebo with picnic table, and a fish cleaning hut. There were two pairs of Canadian geese which had goslings and they were super cute.
