The food was GREAT!!! We just moved to NJ from Brooklyn and we couldn't find a good Chinese spot. We kept trying the local restaurants but was always disappointed. One place we ordered from prepared our fried rice from parboiled rice... horrible! We kept searching and saw this place had great reviews. We ordered boneless spare ribs, pork fried rice, general tso chicken, and shrimp & broccoli. Everything was perfect! Super tasty and didn't even add any soy sauce to my food. I think this place is better than our usual spots back in NY. The service is also great. The lady that took our order was super nice and quick. Great food despite kond of run down appearance. Fresh broccoli and other veg, will sub in tofu for most dishes. Highly recommend.

I asked if they deliver and was told that I have to spend $28 for delivery. Wow and they are located in Hillside, only 1.5 miles from my house. That is so wrong in so many different ways. Had the chicken wings (fried hard for extra crispness) and pork fried rice with a sweet tea. Love this dish and it's always a go-to for me. They season the wings and the rice really good here and it's never dried out. Always a good go-to for a Friday dinner when you don't feel like cooking. I went to Hillside Kitchen today March 8, 2022 and I ordered chicken wings with french fries and added ketchup and bbq sauce on it (hence the redness). When I got home and ready to eat I noticed something weird looking in my food which to me and a bunch of others looks like a rodent foot. I will NEVER go to this place again!!!! And the health department will be called ASAP !!!!! Oh and by the way when I brought the food back to the restaurant the lady told me that was a feather. read more

You know how sometimes when you bite into an egg roll and you're worried that once you take that bite, oil will seep out and down your arm? Well, that has not happened here. They are cheap. This is good food for a late night meal after work or after an early night of cocktails. The delivery guy is super nice and respectful and the food always comes quickly and has never tasted old. If I could rate them lower I would but 1 star is the lowest I could go. When I called to place my order, I asked how much, and they hung up. Then when I got there to pick it up, I assumed the price from the menu that they presented online. Still, they told me that that's an old menu, so I asked if they could comp the rest of the price (like $4) since they didn't update their menu online. They told me that they couldn't do that and that if I didn't have enough, they'd only give me one of my two orders unless I paid the difference on my card, so I did because I needed both meals, but then when I got home to eat it it was horrible. The hillside kitchen noodle is superb with many varieties of thin cut vegetables and meats. It's tasty and not greasy. My Indian friend ordered a veg dish , Singapore noodle. She is crazy about the curry taste. The price is very good and the food portion is also great. It serves its local customers well. We ordered ahead and parked across the street. read more

The restaurant venue is nothing to write about. It's basically a takeout eatery with bland, inauspicious decor. No credit or debit cards are permitted. Only cash transactions are accepted. However, the food is excellent, especially the shrimp fried rice, vegetable lo mein and hot and sour soup. Easily the best place in town to get Chinese food. They're menu is nothing out of the ordinary but every dish they make is high quality. I often order the general tso's chicken and it's one of the best I've had at a Chinese take out. They also make a killer egg foo young. Went there because of the reviews and I was craving Chinese food. I was staying at a hotel near the Newark airport and since there are no restaurants close, I took an Uber to get there. Got there, ordered my food. Waited a measly 15 minutes and was served. The lady at the counter was friendly and courteous. Food was even still hot when I got to the hotel. read more
