I had a moderately complex procedure done for my first visit at Jones Family Dental yesterday: an overlay (sort of like a miniature crown) done on tooth #3. They replaced two sides and a partial top of this tooth. The entire procedure was done in one 2 hour sitting. I brought a magazine. I want to tell you about a couple of aspects of this procedure that I thought were amazing: 1 - There were no impressions. Being a gagger, I hate impressions, especially full mouth impressions. They freak me out and they HURT my other teeth when they try to pull the impression material off. In this case Dr. Jones spread a slightly bitter solution on the area (4 teeth including the problem tooth) and OPTICALLY determined the structure and what needed to be done. I watched as their computer fit common biological patterns over my tooth image and it took a couple of minutes to come up with a designed tooth in 3D. This would be the same procedure for a full crown. 2 - In a small back room Dr. Jones showed me a machine about the size of a microwave oven that made the onlay from a block of porcelain-like material that he said was 3 times harder than my previous tooth. It took 4-5 minutes with little servo-activated diamond tipped grinders whipping away. Rinse water was spraying away inside, but I could see the onlay taking shape. Rather than being like a 3D printer where the object is built up from liquid material, this machine "milled down" the porcelain block that was about 1/3 inch cubed to start with. They even called it "the mill". So in this case (I have several crowns and lots of experience with this) I had one visit requiring only one numb- ing shot, and came out not with a temporary (requiring another visit later), but a fully functional tooth, no impressions, no pain, and a great experience overall. The whole team at Jones Family Dental is highly recommended! Their new technology is a vast improvement over earlier methods for crowns and onlays at other practices. The cost was the same as I have paid before for this type of work, but with much less invasive the time consuming technology. read more

We have been consistently pleased with the dentistry here since Dr. Jones took over the practice of our previous dentist in 2013. During our most recent visit for a crown replacement and to be fitted for night guards, my husband and I both noticed how warm and friendly the office environment was. Everyone seemed to go out of their way to be kind and welcoming, both on the phone and in person. In a world that can feel impersonal and cool, if not cold, this means a lot! Hillside Dentistry is a wonderful practice with an incredible team of professionals. I came to them after not having seen a dentist in quite a while, and they helped me get everything back on track. The staff was patient, kind, and incredibly understanding of my situation. They worked with me to ensure I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. Jones Family Dental is not only a beautiful space to be in aesthetically, but it's also one of the few medical office's I've visited in the valley with a genuinely friendly staff. I never thought I would describe a dentist's office as relaxing or comfortable - but this place is both. They let you choose your own music during your visit and use state of the art technology in all aspects of their work. While my visits are always very professional, I also leave my appointments feeling like I've just spent time with a group of good friends. I have been seeing Dr. Jones and his team for a year now, both for routine cleanings as well as major repairs (2 crowns). The quality of care has been exceptional and they have gone out of their way to make me comfortable. Dr. Jones takes time to communicate clearly, so I have always had confidence that we were making the best treatment choice for the health of my mouth. Dr. Jones is amazing!! Cannot recommend enough. Super friendly, personable, and does outstanding work. I have had many dentists over the years and Dr. Jones is by far the best I've been to see. Such a great office. I was thrilled with everyone from the front desk to the denist. The use of technology to improve my experience was fantastic. I loved the giant monitor that displayed my teeth so I could clearly see what was going on. I really felt like Dr. Jones listened to me and accomodated the appointment to make me more comfortable. Dr Hill and his Staff are top notch, all made my visit a wonderful experience, the care and skill of the Dental Hygienist was great because I felt no discomfort at all and all my teeth now look great.
