The No Phillying Around was a tasty shave ribeye with caramelized onions, peppers and some cheese, only with it had a tad more cheese. The Balboa was a chopped and gilled Italian type sandwich which was really tasty. The french fries were very crisp and well cooked. If you see them you your neighborhood stop by and enjoy.

My wife and I ordered the Big Cheese and the Big Tex and a side of fries. The Big cheese was a little underwhelming in that the Mac and cheese was pretty standard and overcooked, there weren't many jalapeños slices, and the hot dog is just boiled and plain. The Big Tex was also just a boiled dog (no grilling here), but came with more peppers, onions, cheese and had a smoky sauce drizzled on it that was nice. The fries were thick cut and crispy and seasoned with more than just salt so those were nice too. Overall meal was about $17 before tip which isn't too bad but seems a little steep--I take comfort in knowing that it's at least for a good cause.

This food truck is more of a trailer that is towed on the back of the truck and on the day we were there they had 2 people working it. They were slammed and so there was the game of trying to keep up with orders without taking too many. Their menu says proceeds are for the light of life rescue mission which is nice. For dinner on this day I decided to order a number of items to split with my wife and so went for the big tex as well as a southern belle, fresh cut fries with cheese and a Mac and cheese with bacon. The hot dog selection was the toughest choice for me as I was between the chili chaloochi and the big tex before the amount of good sounding items on the big Tex won out. It was described as a hot dog with grilled onions, sweet peppers and jalepenos with Cajun seasoning and also topped with tomatoes, shredded cheddar and cowboy mayo and the southern belle was described as their spicy chicken selection with fried chicken strips, pickles and chipotle sauce served in their signature grilled hot dog bun. After about a 15 minute wait or so, our food was ready and I was headed home. Whenever I got home the first thing I noticed was that they had forgotten my bacon on the Mac and cheese and cheese on the fries which was disappointing since I had paid for both. At that point I was not expecting to give them anything higher than a 3 star review. In any case, I first started with the big Tex and I have to admit that I loved it! The grilled onions, sweet peppers and jalepenos all added some nice flavor to it and the deep fried hot dog was delicious. It was definitely the best hot dog I have had in a long time and I didn't feel bad spending the $7 on it. After that I tried the southern belle. It was on the same buttered bun which the hot dog was on which was tasty. The chicken itself had a nice golden color to it and tasted good enough and I enjoyed the chipotle sauce. I only wish that it had more spice for something that was called spicy. With both of my entrees complete I was able to try both of the sides. I started with the fries which you could tell were freshly cut. They were well seasoned and both my wife and I enjoyed them. Last but certainly not least was the mac and cheese which was a creamy Mac and cheese. It was a decent Mac and cheese but nothing to tell my friends about. The bottom line for me is that I would head back to the rescue dogs food truck again in the future. I really enjoyed my hot dog and would be interested in trying their signature chili chaloochi.

In addition to their ice balls, they offer peanuts and popcorn (their popcorn is so good!) I usually go on a hot summer day after taking a walk through the park. The cart is only open until 6 pm on most days so get there early. In addition to food, they now sell merch online! My favorite ice ball is a cherry and banana one. So good and refreshing. Definitely go check them out!

I stopped by for ice cream, but noticed they have a full menu of savory items as well. I ordered a single scoop of coffeehouse cookies and cream. It was an extra $0.50 to pay with a card, but the prices are already very fair so it wasn't an issue at all. I waited maybe a minute and then my ice cream was ready at the next window. The service is prompt and friendly. The only downside is the parking lot is situated at a weird angle to the road that it's on. If you pull head in to the spot, it's very difficult to pull out again without worrying about all of the oncoming traffic and the line of cars waiting right behind you for the light to change at the intersection.

We came to this BHDS last night because we thought they offered fried chicken. That was not to be…read morethe case. We were told they no longer carried it. I know, it sounds schmaltzy; the idea of a young couple looking for fried chicken two nights before Christmas only to find something more profound. It sounds like a musical or a Kapra film. Or was it tacky, like something the Seinfeld gang would create a comedically, self-absorbed situation out of? "Oh you just want to Yelp something," Kay said to me, flabbergasted that my devotion to Yelp won't take a holiday. Our minor disappointment and squabbling aside, this BHDS has all the same quality, cheap, quick-serve items you'll find at the one on Constitution Boulevard, which I've been to a number of times. It astonishes me just how much food you can get here for a relatively small amount of money. What astonishes me further is just how possible it is to serve such fresh and good food for such reasonable prices en masse. The King and the Clown freeze everything. BHDS doesn't. They prepare everything, including their fresh-cut fries, fresh-ground burger patties, and chili, everyday at a distribution center and fire it off to all their locations. That alone makes it easy to forget that each BHDS is a a franchise when you go to one, and I'm so glad that I finally got to discover BHDS this year. They are a chain to be reckoned with. This one closes at 9PM. Despite us not finishing our food until 9:05, nobody kicked us out. Ya see, we thought they were open 'til 10. Ooops! However, the friendly staff didn't care and were just glad that we chose to give them some last-minute business on a wintery pre-jubilee evening. Oh, you're asking if we did in fact find something more profound than fried chicken. Ummmm...lemme get back to yas on that. Ok? A year from now it'll come to me, I swear.

The orders are right and delicious every time, they really put time and effort into preparing the food just the way you want it, not just rushing to throw it together like some of the other stores. The staff is always extremely friendly weather you're a regular or its your first time there, and the management has worked so hard to get this place back to where it needed to be. Now if they would just bring breakfast back it would be perfect!!

I love the Friday evening farmer's market at The Block. They have have at least three (3) food…read moretrucks per week. Some weeks, I buy something from each truck ... other weeks nothing. This week D & L's Handcrafted Deli made an appearance. Although, I had a meal already planned at home ... I saw the menu ... Spinach Artichoke Grilled Cheese. And with that my dinner plans changed. Turnaround under 10 minutes. Wrapped in aluminum foil and then styrofoam container to keep it warm , I couldn't wait to get it home. It was worth the wait.
