I have a 11 month old dog hat ive been having trouble finding a place for daycare becasue she is a pitty. My husband left town for a while and becasue she would be alone all day, I had to find a place that would take care of her, play with her, and fed her. Shes very sweet but very vocal and is stand offish with new people so I was nervous at first to leave her here. The staff that have been caring for her everyday are super nice, don't discriminate becasue shes a pitbull and work really well with her. She loves it there, the customer service is amazing and im so glad I found hillrose! read more

Some of these reviews are very surprising to me! I've been boarding my 127lbs reactive dog here with no issues. He actually loves going here, the staff are very friendly and my dog always looks totally fine when I come to pick him up. I don't trust most people with my dog, but I trust these people.s read more

Beware of extra charges if you pick up your pet on Sunday. They are not open until 2pm. I wanted to pick up our dog at 12 noon, exactly 2 days after I dropped him off but they told me I couldn't get him until 2pm. They charged me for an extra day, "because I picked him up after noon". They also charged me for an extra day of play time, and an extra day charge because I brought my own food. Not a good experience. $138 for 48 hours. read more

Facilities, pretty good, service... horrible. Called and set up a reservation for my dog. Confirmed 65.00 for a private room for one night. Great, get her checked in this is Saturday 7-22-2023 1:00pm with the receptionist who was dismissive and holding onto some kind of power trip. Ok, maybe she's just having a bad day. Come Sunday, 7-23-2023 we come when they open at 2:00pm to pick her up, same person is there for us to deal with. Total is now doubled, 130.00 for 25 hours of care... Why I ask, the response, "Well it's after noon on Sunday so you are automatically charged another day". My reply, "But you don't open until 2:00pm... so there is no way to not be charged on Sunday?" Her reply correct, and then kept referring to, it's in to contract you signed. And then said, I'm not trying to be abrasive... Yea you are. And why would you phrase it as oh it's after noon. Of course it is, you do not open until 2:00...Not only that, but guess why there are some many regulations around mortgage contracts or autos... Because people kept trying to screw people over. Could we not, just be good people and not try to get over on each other every time we can. Just be nice. Seems too much to ask this place / person. We won't be taking our dog back, and I just know that she is writing something about me in her books about how horrible I was, or my dog was. Petty person protecting their small fiefdom of power. Sad. Hope the owner figures this out. read more

Took our 10-month old kittens here to stay for five days while we went out of town. I wasn't sure what to expect, having never boarded cats before, but dropoff and pickup went super smoothly, and Hallie was awesome. She answered all of our questions and was very reassuring. When we picked them up, they were in great condition and looked like they had been well taken care of. Rates are extremely affordable as well. I will be bringing Prim and Hastings back to Hillrose for sure. Thank you! :) read more

Granted my dog is elderly and takes some care, but I got her back after 5 days there literally almost dead. She has trouble getting herself up but was doing ok when I dropped her off. I picked up a severely dehydrated and emaciated dog with huge swelling in her left rear leg. They had no idea why. As I got her home and got her cleaned up, I noticed two very deep gashes in the leg. Deep as in flesh, fat and tendons exposed. The leg had become severely infected. If your dog is elderly or needs any special care, I would stay away. read more

I am super pleased and thankful for this business. My dog has had the most difficult time trying to get from San Francisco to Washington DC. I called them literally the day before his flight and booked him a layover probably 12 hours before his flight to Seattle. They were very professional and understanding over the phone. I received a message both when he arrived and left the kenneling service. I called after he was there for about an hour to check in with how he was doing and Kelly assured me he was doing fine. She was super friendly and I felt like my dog was being taken really well care of. They really helped me feel easy about him staying overnight in some place and I am so grateful that he was able to have a good time there. read more

Unfortunately I never stepped foot into this place. As a result of a medical emergency, we had to cancel our reservations. We had three small dogs bunking in one kennel. These money grabbers would not even consider a penny back to us on our deposit. Absolutely horrible way to run a business. It's a busy time of the year and you can bet that one kennel will fill up. At least give us the courtesy of returning 2/3 of the deposit. Zero compassion from what appears to be stone cold owners. Who wants to board animals with these type of folks??!? Rethink any consideration. They sure gave us none! Pathetic read more

I just wanted to give a shout out again for this dog kennel place! We used to not go anywhere because of "The Dog!" We found Hillrose a few years back and we go everywhere now, in our trailer for a weekend, we fly away for a week somewhere, our dog is meticulously taken care of! When we arrive there to drop him off he just about pulls us down to get in the place! They are kind and caring and when we pick our dog up we seriously wouldn't know that he has been anywhere, he shows no emotions towards us being gone! Love love love this place and I hope they are around as long as our dog lives!!! read more

I first heard about Hillrose from Alaska airlines because I was shipping my 55lbs husky mix from Hawaii to North Dakota and he needed to be boarded for a lay over. The thing is he'd fly out the same day but needed to stay 2 nights at Hillrose since our plane lands in ND but Max was being shipped to Minneapolis. I got the texts when Max got picked up from SeaTac and another text when he was dropped off at the airport for his second flight. The receptionists who answered each time I called were very knowledgeable and helpful since I had a ton of questions. Who wouldn't? Max has anxiety and is afraid of males he's never met before so of course I was a worried mess. I never read the reviews until I dropped off Max and I was so worried about him catching fleas since that's what the main issue was aside from dogs not being taken care of. Luckily, there are no fleas on him and he was his derpy self when I picked him up. I was surprised to see that there was no pee pad in the crate. I read that they would change it out so that's why I put in a pee pad instead of a dog bed or even his blanket. Again luckily Max held everything in so there was no mess for me to clean up. Max was also dehydrated, if he stayed 2 nights I would assume that he's get enough water. As for his weight, he does look pretty skinny but I can't say for sure if he wasn't fed since I didn't weigh him yet. But his poop was a good indication. Everyday Max would poop the same size amount. Today he pooped a tiny little nugget and was very constipated. Overall I'm glad I went with Hillrose, Max arrived safe and sound and he looks just fine. Aside from being a little skinny and dehydrated. It could've just been his flights that caused it. If I ever needed to fly another pet I would consider Hillrose again. read more

You can't ask your pets how it was, so you have to trust. This is a hard concept for me, the poor doggies needed to stay over during the horrible Blue Angels days as we're right in the flight path, and even though this is right at the airport, the noise isn't even close to what we get. I took the dogs in, the staff person greeted me and had me fill out the paperwork, it was all easy and painless, they said we could bring bedding and toys, so I brought them some to comfort them. Do note: it's an extra charge to have them go out during the day which is only 15 min/day for an extra $8 I believe. Still, two dogs, 4 nights, it was under $200. read more

Was ok untill last visit. Had ok experiences in the past but my dog seemed to enjoy his time there so I let my concerns go. Last time he was there I picked him up and on the drive home i noticed large scabbed over sores on his ears. He had developed a MASSIVE EAR INFECTION, not uncommon for him but they didnt notice and let him scratch at his ears until they were bleeding. read more

We have taken our two dogs here several times now. Usually we board them separately but ask them to put them next to each other. Also, we get every other day play times for the two of them together. In that regard they are very accommodating, allowing joint-playtimes and putting them next to each other. Some of the cons: I wish that they didn't have to go to the bathroom in the same general area that they are housed. Specifically I wish they took them outside 2-3 times per day just to use the bathroom. What they have there is a small area where they sleep and a little door they can open to let them into another run area where they walk around a little and use the bathroom - but it is still inside. I haven't found any reasonably priced place in Seattle that wasn't this way though. It is also a little pricy.... granted, we do have 2 separate kennel spaces but with the shared playtimes it comes to something around 50 dollars per day. Not a ton for one day but that adds up quickly when you leave for 7-10 days. When the dogs come back home they are usually wiped out tired, which is probably to be expected when the dogs are kenneled. I think they are on-edge the whole time from other dogs barking and whatnot. However I do not think they have been mistreated at all, and they seem to do a good job of making sure all the dogs have their shots up to date. The staff always seems friendly, which hopefully leads me to believe they treat my dogs that way too. Another plus is that they are close to the airport, which for us is nice because we almost always drop them off on the way out of town and pick them up on the way back. They have reasonable hours and don't charge you for the next day as long as they are picked up by 10am, which is nice. All in all we are pleased and will continue using them. They are recommended. read more

I board my dog here when I travel. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than boarding him in Seattle with my vet (my dog costs $24/day at Hilrose). Because my dog doesn't get along well with other dogs, we can't use one of those doggy boarding places that lets all the dogs run free. Hilrose is conveniently located near the airport (across from Boeing). We just have to make sure we account for the time to drop him off/pick him up when we make our flight reservations. This also means you have to make sure Hilrose is also open when your flight arrives or takes off (so no weird red-eye flights...). You can pay $6 more a day to get your dog playtime. I do think that the kennel environment can be a bit tiring. Even when you go in to drop your dog off, you can hear how loud and crazy it is back there (a cacophony of doggie voices all raised at once!). My pup always comes back from Hilrose exhausted. But, you can't really beat the convenience or the price. read more

We have a crazy little rescued terrier that does not get along with other dogs, so unfortunately our pet care options are pretty limited. This place is extremely convenient and our dog seems healthy and happy when I pick her up after a long weekend. She hasn't caught fleas or been sick in any way like other folks have experienced. We do pay extra so she eats her regular food and I portion it out into little baggies. She also takes fish oil for her allergies and they do not charge for giving supplements which is cool. She's on Bravecto flea medicine which I highly recommend, so fleas are just a non-issue for us. The last time I took her, she was pulling really hard trying to get in which is a good sign to me. She sure doesn't do this when we're going to the vet for a nail trim! Everyone is super nice to us. I've warned them that she can be weird with body handling and they are very gentle and patient. It's hard to trust people to take care of your pets cause they can't let you know if anything bad happens. My dog seems stoked to go here though and she's happy and healthy when I pick her up. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. They picked our doggie up from SEATAC airport and housed him for the night. I was informed that my Dalmatian had an accident and there was nothing they could do since it was too late and his flight would be too early to do anything before his flight. To sum it all up I picked up my dog at LAX covered in FECES!!! There's nothing worse then picking up your family dog in the condition we found him in. As a pet owner just reaching out and letting you know if I could do it again, try and find another arrangement even though it seems HILLROSE is the only place. It was so sad to see him like that. Our dog is crate and house trained. He was covered from head to toe in poop. Look for someone else!!!!! read more

We have boarded with them a few times for long periods of time (a month+ while out of state) and I have been consistently unimpressed with their business and the way they've treated our animals. Won't be returning now I think. Paid for a "family suite" for two cats which is just two very small boxes joined together by a door. Seems like that should be a free option with two cats in separate boxes given that it costs them nothing (ALL the regular boxes have that tiny door.) The actual facility for the cats is clean but much too small (3 foot by 3 foot) and there is no default stimulation whatsoever. You are literally putting your cat in a cramped box with a ridiculous doll bed that takes up a good portion of that space (didn't even have a cushion or anything) and you have to pay a whopping $15 extra for just a bit of playtime each day. Not only that, but the doors on the boxes are just flimsy plastic with a good inch of opening on every side. Very, very easy for a paw to get stuck in there. The super cheap locking mechanism on the door (literally the only thing keeping it in place) actually broke while they were putting my cat inside the box. Coming back this last and final time I learned they'd burned through a very large (easily sufficient) haul of home food I'd brought and had been on house food for a week. Given one cat having weight issues and needing special diet this was particularly alarming. The other cat came back very very skinny. You'd think they'd bother to notify you at the least, so additional food could be sent. Also, their "suite" door had been closed for god knows how long despite both cats getting along together great, so don't even bother paying extra for that service. They'll just be separated anyway. What a rip. Make no mistake; they are all business in every sense of the word. The staff are unenthused and curt and I really didn't get any sort of animal lover vibe from the place whatsoever. Tried to ask about my 8 month old dog the one time he was boarded there for a month, wondering how he was faring due to separation anxiety and if he had enough home food, and got nothing to my questions other than, "he's fine." I know it's not their job to write an extended summary of your pet's daily habits and/or send pictures, but most boarding places will at least fill you in a little bit at no extra trouble. If you have trouble separating from your furry family, beware. Long story short, if you need a quick absolutely overpriced place to put your pets for awhile going through SEATAC they'll probably be fine here for a few days, but if you value your animals greatly or want to do any kind of extended boarding I would certainly look further. Board with a family member or friend, or get house sitting if you can before you trust these people with your babies. They'll be alive and questionably healthy when you get them back, but not happy. read more

Never again!!! Beware! FLEAS!!!!! Plus they will starve your dog! First off - I travel a lot and my dog has stayed in probably 20+ different resorts all over the country, never had any issues that came even close to this... the good - nothing! the bad - We were asked to take dogs tags off for some ridiculous reason. What if dog gets a way, mine is an escape artist, then what? he is 20 miles from home, that makes it for a relaxing vacation for me wondering if when we come back our dog will still be there. the ugly................ I paid extra so we can have my dog eat his own food. I brought enough food for exact number of days I was going to be away. I ended up coming back a day later then expected, so my dog should have been completely out of food and eaten at least 2 meals of their food. Instead they were 2 meals left and my dog looked beyond skinny and really hungry....... So they either did not follow my request to feed him my food and gave him crap food that made him throw up or not eat it, or they did not feed him at all! Not sure which is worse. but wait, the ugly continues....... I get home and my dog is itching like crazy, biting his own fur to the point of bold patches....... take him to a vet next day - he's got worst case scenario of FLEAS they have ever seen! thats $200 bill, not to count my dogs suffering and my suffering! I've owned my dog for 8+ years, he has stayed in many different places, never a single flea, always came back home happy, but not after visiting this place. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID read more

After two trips, we're done with this place. Found a new boarding place (Banfield's Pet Hotel is amazing!!) This place offers super cheap prices ($25 / night for my Pomeranian), but then they add on the extras: this covers only boarding. If you want your dog to go outside into the fresh air or stretch their legs, it's $15 for 15 minutes. Does your dog eat special food? Or something other than what they serve? You can bring it but they will CHARGE YOU $1 extra PER feeding. You're saving THEM money by not using their food but YOU are being charged. Originally we had put the name brand of the food on the form, and asked the girl if he would be fed this food. She said yes. After my dog had diarrhea on his return home, I called and they said oh no they just like to know what food they normally eat but they can't give the same brand of food. You have to bring it in. Had I KNOWN this, I would have brought it, of course, since he's on a special diet. When they experience problems with your pet, they DO NOT CALL YOU. I asked for 3 playtimes/walks while my dog was there for a week. When I went to pick him up, they told me that they never took him outside because he was 'aggressive'. This dog has never been aggressive and has stayed at various boarding facilities all over the US. When I came back for the second time to drop him off, I mentioned hey, I guess he might be aggressive. The girl clarified that he wasn't aggressive -- the former kennel attendant was new and didn't know how to handle dogs. So she was scared easily, and she didn't want to take the dog out. A couple of days after the first visit, he got very sick to the point of our taking him to the Veterinary ER. They said he probably ate something he shouldn't have and he needed fluids. We chalked it up as something he may have eaten at home. After the second visit, he acted weird again and got sick again. Clear sign this is NOT from home. This is from the boarding facility. NICE. This is the kind of facility and staff they have? Never again. Extra charges + poor staff = new boarding place for us. My dog's health is worth an extra $5 a night at a different place. read more

First time going and probably our last. We called ahead to make a reservation to drop off our dog that day and pick him up the following evening (Saturday to Sunday) and were given a quote (approximately $25 a day, which was one of the reasons we went here as they were one of the more affordable options). We planned on caravanning to our destination following another family in a separate car and after we sign in and drop the dog off we are handed a form calling out their normal policies in case of emergency, hours, etc. One of the things they failed to mention on the phone when asked specifically how much boarding fees would be or when we dropped our dog off in person was that for pickups on Sunday you are charged an extra day (so dropping off on Saturday afternoon and picking up Sunday afternoon will be charged for 2 days and not one). So instead of being the least expensive option they were among the most expensive. When we went to pick up our dog on Sunday we brought this discrepancy to the employee's attention and they said sorry but their wasn't anything they could do. No offer to check with management, no suggestion to call back on Monday to see if there was something they could do. Our dog seemed to enjoy going here, my wife and I (and our checkbook) did not. read more

We have taken our little pup here several times. And to be honest I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it. She always comes back happy to see us. I've boarded my Yorkiepoo at the Hillrose Pet Resort 6-7 times over the last year and a half. The people are always very friendly and polite. I forgot to make a reservation once for a weekend and they were super accommodating! My only complaint would be the increase in price starting this past January, from $28 to $35/day. Since my pup is in a kennel all day, I tend to add-on the play time or walk, each being $7/15-min. Despite the convenience for my frequent travels, the price is getting to steep for me. read more

My dog was returned to me noticeably skinnier than when I dropped her off, with her ribs visible, despite the fact that I asked them to monitor her weight and give her more food if necessary. She also came home with a small wound on her nose that was not explained. While this place is cheaper than many of its competitors, I don't like that the dogs are kenneled all day, every day (you have to pay extra for short 15 minute play sessions), and I also don't like that they clearly underfed my dog. I won't be returning. read more

I recently took my dog Maury to Hillrose. He was there for only two days, but returned with his underside, feet, and backside (including his testicles) covered in urine and feces. He's got very short hair, so his butt and testicles were visibly red and irritated too. Why didn't anyone clean him off? Was wiping poop and pee off my dog an additional expense too? I thought that it might be covered in base rate or the $6/day extra I was paying to let him out of his cage for 15 minutes. Or maybe it was in the additional $1/day I was paying to feed him his own food? Guess not. We emailed them about the situation and never got a response. This place is a total racket. We have used Hillrose Pet Resort for several years. We have no complaints. My complaint is with other pet owners. Look in your walet and you will find a photo of the ones you love. POOR. Long overdue review...I boarded my dog for a week, 2 months after a foot surgery. I informed them during intake and left my phone number should there be any questions or problems. When I picked her up at the end of the week, she was not putting any weight on her foot. While they didn't cause her foot problem, they should have noted it and called me or her vet. She required additional surgery, which might have been avoided if treated earlier. Lack of attention, or lack of concern, either way...poor experience. read more
