Petaqua

Petaqua

As a pet owner, I found Petaqua to be one of the best Pet Shops aywhere. The staff are really…read morehelpful and the stock is amazing. Anything you want is available, if not in stock, the owner will order it for you at no extra cost. The shop is clean and it doesn't have that usual smell you normally get in most pet shops. I always shop at Petaqua for all my pets needs and they are cheaper than supermarkets and they are interested in your pets welfare, not the amount of money you are going to spend. Any advice you need is free and the owner is extremely knowledgeable about all types of fish and their treatment of numerous ailments. My advice is, if you love your pet, go to Petaqua and try them out.

They sell a wide range of fish, from your bog standard goldfish through to your tropical dart fish, blue crab or weird looking amphibian with 5 legs and 10 eyes! They also sell a range of birds and lots of bits and bobs to cater for all you pets and pets to be. They sell bird food, fish food, dog and cat food, a wide range of toys for cats and digs, scratch posts, beds of all sizes, litter, litter trays and all sorts of little bits and bobs you just wouldn't find in the pet isle of the supermarket! It's a busy little shop, but if you don't like smelly pet shops then stay away as there is a bit of a stench when you take a wander inside!

Smithdown Aquarium is the typical fish owners' shop where you can purchase tropical fish and food,…read moreas well as fish tank equipment; these are all really standard prices, neither cheap nor expensive. They do sell a fair variety of small tropical fish which are quite common as for most aquariums. The viewing area is rather tight being in a confined space but the staff are really helpful in providing you advice and tips whether you're a beginner or not. They greet customers when they enter the shop and often have regular customers there too, which is always a good sign. If you're looking to exchange fishes here, you might just be able to strike up a good deal. Smithdown Aquarium is occasionally worth the effort, especially if you have a passion for pet fish.

This would be a tremendously relaxing place to stay if it wasn't for the man on the counter peering…read moresuspiciously at you like you're about to grab one of the more tropical creatures and stuff it into your mouth. With its gently bubbling aerators and dark aquatic atmosphere, you could spend a good few hours in here if it had a bar. Maybe the vendor will take kindly to my suggestions he ditches all the bags of gravel and little castles and starts mixing cocktails. I reckon he'd perk up if I tell him topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, but only in tropical fish stores. That's true by the way. Look it up. Anyway, a shop of cool Neptunian depth, the place is great for stocking up on tropical fishies. Ask if you can have them with chips. They'll laugh uproariously as they stick your head into a tank, believe me.

This branch of Pets at Home has opened recently in New Mersey Retail Park in Speke. It is smaller…read morethan some other Pets at home Stores and it doesn't actually sell animals, which is a shame, but also maybe a good thing as I cant resist a cute furry friend. Pets at Home has a wide range of items for Dogs, Cats, Small animals, fish, reptiles, birds, chickens, Horses and wildlife. They stock animal food, bedding, litter trays, cages, bowls, water bottles, perches, beds, collars, leads, carry cases, books, toys and much more. The staff are very helpful and happy to show you where items are. The products are reasonably priced but aren't quite as cheap as smaller independent pet shops, but the products are of an excellent quality. A great addition to the retail park.

I took my lovely lass apso into their groomers, and i can honestly say I was so shocked the way she…read morewas done. I asked for a 'teddy trim' and they took all her lovely coat off saying she was knotted and matted in places, she was NOT as i brush her every day and my regular groomer always puts her into a lovely 'teddy' so i didn't know what they problem was as she was only groomed 4 weeks ago. I couldn't get her in with my regular groomer, it was my fault for not making an appointment there and then. That is why i went here, and they charged me £42, I nearly choked as they said that she had a 'paw treatment' and something else treatment.. TERRIBLE please don't go here, they are not professional, and i don't believe for one min that they can groom all the different breeds to 'breed standard'.
