Usually if you go to a thrift store, the toy area is trashed from the kids playing with the toys. But they had the toys higher up on shelves and bagged with the pieces that go with the toys. So they actually had a better selection of toys because all the pieces are most pieces were intact. I ended up buying some toys there for my grandson and also some books. Their prices were good compared to other thrift stores. I did not look at the clothing prices which tend to be ridiculous at most thrift stores. We did not have to wait long at all to check out and the woman was friendly. I have been to the other Blessings Abound thrift store in Overland Park, but not this one. I would recommend it to anyone living in this area.

Your mom bought it for 12.99 back in 2000, but now with its chic mold and living creatures and a few holes from the moths, at City Thrift they charge 19.99 not 20 but 19.99, cause if it ends in .99 it's a DEAL! We spent an hour playing, "guess the price". Probably the spookiest game since the Ouija. This place preys on the elderly, preys on the less fortunate. You could go to Walmart and buy 4 items for the price of one of theirs. This isn't a "vintage" store. This is a sham. I put every item I wanted back. Also, there's zero mirrors. No fitting rooms. They want you to buy it and be stuck with it. This isn't a store that cares about customers. This is a store of an owner with a poor business model and probably a grumpy ego. I may have put my other stuff back, but I found a duck okay? I wanted the duck. I needed this duck. Hate to give this place any money but, it was priced at 3.99, I could muster up 3.99 and save the duck. This little guy had a goodwill sticker that said 2.99. But... wait... when we went to the register, their sticker was magically gone. I asked how much they the duck was. Already wondering how much I'd squander for this poor duck. They debated whether to charge me what was already priced by goodwill (that they scribbled out) or up charge me...... Literally a preposterous suggestion. After walking an hour through this ghastly place and playing "guess the price" and trying to up charge me for my sweet duck sent me over the edge. I asked them, "how do you even pick prices for stuff?" She said, "we charge half of the retail price" Then I asked, what about the pitiable 2000 sweaters from 24 years ago? How do you know that retail price today? And how can you charge half for something two decades old? It's not vintage...it's someone's trash at this point. They had no answers. I love the concept, but I must say that I had an unpleasant donation experience…read more I called the Restore donation coordinator, and confirmed that they would accept 16 of the doors I removed from the house I'm renovating. I followed up this conversation by sending a picture of the doors to the coordinator, who said they were interested in the doors. I was going to arrange for their free pickup, but it turns out this is quite inconvenient. They schedule based on your zip code, which dictates the day of pickup. Then, the pickup window is the entire day. So you have to be home and waiting for the pickup on a random weekday, the entire day. If you work, you just can't make this work. The lady told me that instead, you can drop off the doors at the donation center. Today, I borrowed a trailer, loaded up the doors, and took them to the store. At the store, the man told me at that he could not take my doors, without even looking at them. They don't want doors, they can't sell doors, and they definitely can't take as many doors as I brought with me. Not to mention, the man was standoffish and acted like my bringing in a donation was an inconvenience or something. This would be fine with me if I had not already been told they wanted them and to bring them in. So yeah, pretty hard to make a donation to this place. It was a waste of time this afternoon, and it's a shame these matching doors in decent condition now have to go to the dump.

This place is big with a whole lot of stuff everywhere. This is usually my first stop in thrift…read morestore shopping. I usually have to stop talk myself or my roomie out of this place. I can always find treasures here of anything from clothes to electronics to household. Bad thing was introducing my roomie to this place. This is the spot she goes when she happens to be bored. At least, it's a shopping spree on the cheap. It's a thrill to come back and do a fashion show of all the goodies you got for next to nothing. Only warning is to avoid Wednesday. It's senior day and it gets packed. lol

I also was looking for some clothing for my one-year-old grandson. They had quite a bit but it was not separated, according to size. So I browsed through a selection of it, but it was too difficult to try to find 24 month outfits with all of the other sizes mixed in. They had a variety of typical items found at thrift stores like clothing and household goods and limited books. I feel like the donations were slightly poor quality at this location. The one positive was the young man who worked at the cash register, who greeted every person and was nice and had great manners!
