Fall fun weekends We decided to check out a fun weekend with our kids. It cost $12 to be able to enter. They have barrel rides, pedal cars, corn maze, straw maze, corn bin, sand pit, playground, etc. You can pay extra to pick flowers, pick apples, or use the apple cannon. I wish the price was more inclusive. Like a family bundle that includes tickets, bag to apple pick, bucket of apples for the cannon, etc. then you just lay one price upfront. The apple cannon was a lot of fun and the kids had a great time. The event says it is open until 6. At 5 we decided to head up to the food truck and to get donuts and everything was closed up. They had a small stand inside with hot dogs and kettle corn. The place was really beautiful with the flowers and corn field plus cute picnic areas. read more

Note to all: you can't just pick apples, you need to pay to enter 14.95$. We don't have kids, didn't want to do the corn maze, etc, just wanted to pick apples. We got some at the front little market. Never been to a place where we have to enter to pay to pick apples. There should be an area to just pick apples and go. read more

We really like that there was multiple things to do for the kids, we played on the playground, road the hayride, went through the corn maze and tried to find all the clues, picked apples, and visited the pumpkin patch, and ate donuts on the way out. The little ones say their favorite part was getting lost in the maze and picking apples. read more

Website says closes at 6 plan being here way before 5 to pick apples or pumpkins bc they will not let you back to do so. The employees in store tell you can still pick but when you go back to do so they wouldn't let us to so. Drove over a hour be there for them to turn us away 10 mins to 5 pm With an upset child in tow and heartbreak on way home we will never be back. Family business usually do better this was a disappointment read more

Falling for fall? There's enough to satisfy every craving at Hillcrest Orchards for the whole family. The farm is further out than some of the other local pick-your-own places, but just as well attended. There's ample parking in the primary and overflow lots without being too far from the main areas. We joined many other families and groups ambling into the farm on a weekday morning, with our first stop being the shed with bathrooms. Be not deceived by the door with the restroom sign on it - there's actually additional toilets on the other side closest to where the patio/bar are. These stalls are separated just by curtains, but in a pinch work just fine. Our favorite spot was the beautiful barn and patio, where the bar serves Hillcrest's own brews. The barn was closed that day for a private event, but all the tables were set out and arranged in appropriately social distance. There's plenty of seating at the picnic tables on the grass as well. Food is available for purchase at the food truck. Menus for both food and drink are online. Food took an inordinate amount of time to get (only one cashier and two people making food in the tiny kitchenette), and they wouldn't take additional orders if say, a family ahead had ordered five sets of fries and nachos. The Mexican Street Corn and Fries are wonderful, but I and many other customers were pretty aggravated by the 20+ minute wait it took to get our orders. At least you can get their fantastic Apple Cider Donuts for $1 each. To pick your own apples, check to make sure they're offering apples that day first, and what kind. Honeycrisp goes fast! It costs $10 per person to enter the orchard, and a 10 lb bag for apples goes for an additional $15, or 20 lb bag for $25. You get a very non-sticky sticker that shows you're not just creeping in the orchard and stealing apples. One of the perks is that they fully condone eating the apples as you pick, so if you're not sure if you want those Jonagolds, you can try before you commit. The orchard is fairly large but a reasonable stroll while being able to distance from others. The tractor hay ride is also an option for kids (and adults) who are lazy - I mean, preserving their energy. The pumpkin patch is just a short distance from the orchard entrance, and most of the gourds have actually already been cut to simplify the picking process. Wheelbarrows and shears are offered if you want the full experience. If I had small children, I know they would have loved running through the corn maze or taking a ride in the small train. Older kids might not be as amused by going around in a small loop, but hey, teenagers don't really like anything. Before you leave, be sure to check out their market for all your fall cooking/baking needs. read more

Wish I could give it no stars but this will do for now. I just came from a wedding there and was treated so horribly by the staff. I'll go into more depth when I can fully process but long story short don't expect to have your special day be what you want and if you ask for something specific they will change it on you the day of. If you don't comply they bully you and treat the bridal party badly. I watched them basically rip the chair out from under the MOB because they wanted this wedding party out faster than the poor woman could even get up. Came to Hillcrest Orchards for my cousin's wedding. Everything was very well presented and beautiful. It was a calm atmosphere with all kinds of nooks and crannies to hang out in, catch up with family and friends, and otherwise just enjoy the scenery. One thing to know: If you're getting married here, (especially in mid to late summer!), the main facility? Yeah. It doesn't have air conditioning. You are going to melt, as we did, in the oven that is the main venue. It's beautiful, but your pictures aren't going to be amazing when everyone is sweating through suits and dresses. This is a great place to have some old fashioned fun at! They had a little but of everything and my daughters (ages 2 & 5) had SO MUCH FUN. They had everything from a hayride that takes you back and drops you off in the orchards, a corn maze, corn kernel box, pedal car track, sand pit, playground, train, and hay maze. So much for the kiddos! They also had a pumpkin patch, orchards (obviously lol) with rows of trees that were labeled by what kind they were, and a sunflower field. Unfortunately the sunflowers were all done for for the season but it was to be expected at the end of October. A peck of apples was $14 and a bushel was $22. They have the ripened apples listed in the sign out front so you know what you are able to pick. There is a food truck by the entrance that has all sorts of goodies. They have another area by the restrooms that has coolers with apple cider, water, etc. They also have apple cider donuts in that section that are absolutely DELICIOUS! And they package them up while they are warm so they are so fresh. Closer to the gates they have fresh kettle corn. All in all I think this place is a great place to visit with lots of things to do and limited lines unlike other well known farms and orchards in Northeast Ohio. You won't be disappointed! read more

Most terrible experience I've ever had. First off, the prices just to get in, was high. $10 each, so when your with your whole family it's usually at least $40-$70. They don't give you at least a free donut or anything for the prices your paying. So around 3 pm me and my family where going to get some food. They had a food truck and a concession stand. At 3 pm, they where all out of food. They had absolutely nothing left. We had young children with us so of course they where starving and we had no food to give them! All they had left was donuts and cider. Which may I add, are very overpriced. You have to pay to pick sunflowers ($5 for just one flower!) and you had to pay to pick apples! So we had to pay to get in, pay to get our apples and pay to pick flowers. It isn't fair that we have to pay extra to do these things as there's nothing else you can really do except swing on some swings. I recommend go and buy some fresh apples at a produce stand and go to a park. It's defiantly way cheaper than Hillcrest. I don't recommend going with a large group of people. And if you want food, go early because hey, who would want a hotdog at 10:00 am. read more

We went to the Hillcrest Orchards in Georgia (5 Stars). In her rush to make sure we got tickets for the day, my wife accidentally purchased tickets to THIS Hillcrest Orchards, in Ohio, 10 hours away. While I'm sure their physical location in Ohio is great, their customer service isn't. Although this was our purchase mishap, it stinks that they did not return our phone calls, emails, and instant messages. If you're going to throw money out the window, this Hillcrest Orchards is the perfect place to do so! read more

My children and I showed up between the posted hours of operation to find that we couldn't find a staff member. I assumed that it was because of Covid-19, so we did a short lap, and I began to realize it may be closed even though there were no hours of operation posted anywhere on the property. As we were. Heading back to out car, an angry "Karen" zoomed up to us on a cart and rudely told us the events are weekend only. She made us feel like criminals for trying to find a staff member. It's a shame because I had planned on coming back later in the season with my children, sister, and nephews and spending quite a bit of money there. Attitude is everything "Karen" and you're lucky I didn't want to embarrass my kids because I can match that level of rude and surpass it. Never coming back! read more

Got the Groupon. First time out there. I'm knocking off a star for two reasons. (1) it was a rainy day and we had no idea when the 20 minute drive would be worth it. There's just a recording you get when you call. (2) A little pricey. $14 for a half bag and i think $22? for a full bag.... I'm so upset that we got rained out (and yes, we waited for almost an hour in the car just in case the rain stopped) and we couldn't really partake of the "picking" from this adorable orchard. What happened instead was that we paid 4 bucks to take a hay ride to the back of the orchard (about a 5 min ride; I can't really tell distance because I'm not sure how fast a tractor goes) and then back again because it started pouring! Oh well, we should have looked at the forecast. But there were plenty of people there, so it wasn't only us dummies. Anyway, after we realized that the rain wasn't going to stop, we got a pumpkin, a teeny pumpkin for Lorelei, a butternut squash, and two bags of apples. So far, they have gotten rave reviews. The squash yielded the best soup I've ever made of this type (uh, yeah, it really does pay to get 'em from a farm instead of Giant Eagle). I made apple crisp and apple pancakes with the apples, and there's still half of both bags left! Hmmm...baked apples next? I'm also going to try my hand at pumpkin pie from scratch, because last time I used pumpkin to make something (soup) it was a jack-o-lantern and even though it tasted good, I am looking forward to using a real "pie pumpkin" (smaller) for this project. I would recommend this orchard even though we didn't get the full experience of picking. It was really friendly, had a playground for kids and a cute little market out front. The venue is breathtaking for photos and it has such unique areas for photos (such as the orchard, pond, and garden areas). The staff was super nice and the food was amazing! Great place to go for pick your own Apple And pumpkins. Had a lot of things for the kids to do from a corn maze to Hay rides So much more. Great place to get your fall photos with your family they also Have a food truck in a place to pick up drinks for adults and for the kids for a small little cost. Free to go to but does cost to get in the orchard itself they have stations were you can way your items before taking them up to the cashier. Have your traffic towards the weekend and on the weekends. Also to add they do have a venue available for weddings as well so don't forget to stop on out during the fall it's the best time of the year! read more

I loved this apple orchard. We went last fall with some friends. They had a groupon so it was very affordable. It's not too far for west siders and a good alternative to Mapleside, which is expensive and better for kids, not toddlers. Hillcrest has your standard apple picking and hot cider. The apple bags were more expensive than I had anticipated so I was a bit disappointed about that. However, I'm not as into getting a bag of apples as I am just going for the fall family fun day. We enjoyed a hayride, pumpkin picking, a maze, playground, and a mini wagon ride for kids. The maze is pretty challenging if you do complete it. Do not forget to leave without buying some donuts, they were so good that I clearly remember them and it's been a few months. It's also really beautiful and was a good time to get some nice pictures of the family. read more

This was such a disappointing experience. We headed to Hillcrest Orchard on a perfect autumn day, looking forward to the corn maze and finding fresh apples. I had read the extensive list of apples they grown on their website, and was pretty excited about the wide variety. The parking lot was packed when we got there, but the place is so big that it really didn't feel crowded once we were walking around. The young lady in the check-in shed gave us the gist of things, and pointed us down a path toward the corn maze and orchard. She had mentioned a hay ride, but we didn't see any tractor and there were several other people walking, so we started walking down the path. It was a beautiful day as I mentioned, and part of the reason we were there was to get a little outdoor exercise. It really wasn't clear where the corn maze was. There were pictures hanging in the check-in shed that made it look gigantic, but the only corn field that we passed was quite small, and the corn wasn't even waist high. We all agreed that this surely couldn't be the corn maze, and we kept walking. We got to the u-pick apple area, and saw an older woman sitting at a table with the bags that you use to pick the apples. When we approached her, the first thing she said was "where did you come from??" and it just went downhill from there. She berated us (six adults) for not riding in on the hay cart, and told us that she didn't even want to give us the bags to pick our apples because we hadn't done it "the right way." The six of us looked at each other like we were in a skit from Saturday Night Live. This nasty old lady continued her tirade but finally, begrudgingly, gave us some bags (after one of us explained that we had simply followed the path we had been pointed to, as many other people had done,) but not without an enormous amount of attitude. We all wanted to just leave at that point. I asked another group of people there where the corn maze was, and sure enough, it was the sad little field we had already passed. There are only four or five different varieties of apples to choose from in the u-pick area, only two of which were palatable. The golden delicious are excellent. The red delicious are passable. The cortlands were mealy and I really don't remember the others. You can buy honeycrisp, but only in the "farm store," for $25 per bag. I would recommend this place to you if you are into paying admission to go pick your own apples, which you then also pay for, and being yelled at for no apparent reason. I will never go back. There is another corn maze/U-pick pumpkin place that is excellent (and the pumpkins are $1/each instead of $3 something a pound like they are at Hillcrest) nearby, so there is absolutely no need to deal with the awful customer service and poorly executed corn maze that are at Hillcrest. read more

I spent a wonderful Sunday here! You can get a massive grocery bag of apples for $12. I have been eating mine for weeks. I have never had apples that tasted this good! They have a hayride that runs every 15 min and takes you to the part of the orchard where you can pick apples. They had quite a few varieties that were all clearly labeled. I highly recommend this farm if you are looking to get out in the sunshine for a few hours. Very relaxing. read more

We usually go to Apple Hill, but we got rained out yesterday and they're not open on Sunday. So we went to Hillcrest instead. Here's the thing. They charge for admission to the hay maze and what not even if you only want to pick apples. I could have bought a another bag of apples for that! They only have a few varieties there (red delicious, yellow delicious, jonagold, and courtland). If you're not a fan of those 4 (personally I don't care for the delicious varieties- too grainy) then too bad. But the real issue for me was their payment system. You buy store things in the store, you buy admission in the u-pick building, you pay for apples after the tractor brings you back, you pay for lunch (hot dogs and pulled pork) separately too. That's 4 separate transactions instead of what should be ONE! I should have been able to at least pay for my bags and my admission at the same time. Do yourself a favor and make sure to go picking on Saturday if you can so you can go across the street to Apple Hill. read more

We had a family outing at Hillcrest Orchards yesterday, my husband and I with three children. Ages of the kids ranged from 2 to 12, yet all three of them enjoyed it equally. From the tractor ride out to the orchards, to the apple picking then back to the play area, every part of it was just good old-fashioned fun. It had rained all morning so we expected less than ideal conditions, but were pleasantly surprised that there was little to no mud to contend with. We stopped in the store as well and have to say the cookies were a huge hit! Thanks so much to staff, you were all warm and friendly, I can't wait to do it again. Last Sunday was the first time my family went apple picking here, and I can tell you that it will be last. The only reason we went here is that the apple orchard that we usually go to (Miller's Orchard, right across the street), is closed on Sundays. I understand that this is a family orchard and I am all for supporting home grown businesses. However, they charge $7.00 per person to take a short hayride to the orchards, and then they charge you either $12 for a smaller bag or $20 for a bigger bag of apples. Apparently, the $7.00 also includes some lame activities for the children. My kids ages 9 and 11 and were not the least bit interested. So, we spent $55 for a peck of apples. Granted, it was worth it to spend time with my children and get some fresh Autumn air, but I felt that it was a very pricey outing. I am used to other orchards just charging for the apples that you pick. read more
