This garden was very cute and an easy walk. We took the Tram tour which is every Thursday and Sunday? I believe. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and Otto who started it all. We also walked along the river which had some hills but it was still an easy tolerable walk.

If you are looking for a beautiful place to take a walk and look at some beautiful flowers and scenery then take a drive out to Birmingham, Ohio and visit the Schoepfle Garden. The Schoepfle Garden contains 70 acres of botanical gardens and natural woodland bordered on one side by the Vermilion River. Visit one of the following areas while you are there: 1. The Formal Garden- The formal garden has a wide central path lined in part with hedges and topiaries. Side paths wind through beautiful flowers and trees that are in bloom from late spring through fall. 2. The Shade Garden- Draped in Pines and covered in ferns and mosses, the shade garden is a great place to cool off in the heat of the summer. Find a place to sit and read a good book while enjoying nature! 3. Woods and River Bank- Enjoy a stroll on one of the paved paths or take an easy hike through the woods down to the banks of the Vermilion River. It can get muddy so I'd take along a pair of old shoes or boots. My favorite time of the year to hike by the river is mid October. The reflections of the colorful trees onto the river below are outstanding! 4. The Children's Garden- The Children's Garden was a true community project as local landscapers constructed each unique garden, local artists restored carousel horses, and local businesses and citizens donated to this amazing project. Each unique piece of the garden blends nature and music to create an enchanting garden for children to learn and play in. Children, young and old, can climb the Rocky "G" Clef, crawl through the Flute-A-Pillar, and ride the restored carousel (From the Lorain County Metroparks Website). Ifr you are looking for a nice place to take a walk or are a photographer interested in floral/nature photography I highly recommend a trip to Schoepfle Garden!

We love this park! It's serene, and quiet. The trails are great to walk on, just remember some bug spray.

And I wanted to embrace the fall colors. But, I wanted a path that wouldn't be muddy. I made an impromptu decision to take my son and boyfriend to Miller Nature Preserve because I knew it would be dry inside the conservatory and from what I remembered, there were some paths along the building outside. We started inside, which is amazing on its own. We paid $2 per person to go inside and experience the warm humid climate and jungle like setting. Tropical plants are everywhere, along with some cactus and bonsai trees. It's a great place to go anytime of year, but I would imagine winter months would be very enjoyable here to warm up and see some greenery. Then we walked around outside in their garden areas, which is really pretty too. Not too much to look at this time of year as everything is transitioning to winter. We were surprised to find a gravel path that went into the woods outside of the parking lot. We didn't pay attention to the map posted at the beginning of the trail, as we assumed it would be a short path. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised and very wrong! We walked through the woods for about an hour. We didn't see anyone else on the path so it was quite magical. The trees were just starting to change and the sun would peak out from the clouds occasionally. At some point the path seemed to feel like we were on someone's private property, and we were very confused, but the garden area we came across was beautiful. All sorts of cool stones, a little pond, and millstones galore. Then we somehow ended up on the trail again, which ran next to a creek. There were benches scattered about the trail as well. I never knew these trails were back there! It was an enjoyable adventure and I hope to come back soon!

It had less variety and square footage than the free city greenhouse, Rockefeller Gardens (stellar place!). My 8 yr old's admission was a joke because she declared it was very hot and stepped outside to the front desk and gift shop within a minute of stepping inside. Honestly, children under 10 should be free with the amount of interest holding them there. There was only 1 other separate room with some bonsais and a caged chameleon that was displayed in a way that was hard to see. In mid April, many flowers/fruits still weren't in bloom or already bloomed or I don't know. The conservatory itself only gets 3 stars in my opinion but the best part is actually the outer grounds and trails. The trails were great and we got to see all sorts of birds (blue jays, mallards, Canadian geese, woodpeckers, finches, etc.), squirrels, chipmunks, deer. The small garden area surrounding the butterfly cage was cute. We also saw the world's cutest dog there that I mistook for a rabbit--a baby French bulldog.

You can hear her continually say "oh how beautiful". Just being a witness to how alive she becomes here makes me very happy. They work very hard weeding the grounds and it's hard work. In this trip we met one of the seasonal workers. She collected our entry fee of $5 each and asked us if we have visited in the past. Very nice young person. They are looking for volunteers and it would be s nice place for someone to de-stress and get their hands a little dirty. Also, gardening does burn calories. Every season you will see new plants and flowers coming up. It's not your perfectly polished garden, but it's your rough work in progress labor of love. You will always see the groundskeepers, seasonal workers and volunteers working hard there.

The park is well-maintained and the variety of plants and flowers is truly stunning. I enjoyed walking through the different gardens, each with its own unique character and charm. They just opened on April 1st for the season so not everything was in bloom (obviously) but my minds eye could imagine if. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail and the dedication of the staff to ensure that everything was in pristine condition. I could tell that they take great pride in their work and it definitely shows. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Strongsville Gardenview Horticultural Park. It's a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city and a true gem for nature lovers. Five stars all around!

Pollinators (bees, butterflies, moths, etc) are an essential part of the ecosystem. They allow native plants to survive and are important in food crop production. To help fight the decline in pollinators, Cuyahoga Falls planted this butterfly garden at the entrance of High Bridge Glens Park. It has a cute, butterfly themed rod iron entryway. Again, this garden is small, but if you catch it in bloom, I imagine it's magical. I did spot a baby monarch and that made me so happy! I loved the two signs on the property explaining what types of butterflies and flowers you might see. This would be a wonderful place to bring kids and help instill an appreciation for protecting nature. However, because this spot is small, keep that in mind during the pandemic, as it's not a space I'd care to share with anyone at all. I want to live in a world where our pollinators, particularly bees and butterflies, aren't at such a high risk of extinction. Great job to the City of Cuyahoga Falls!

But on Mother's Day we got to see a lot of the rooms we never saw. And got to ask more questions and take our time a bit more. All around good experience. You want to see as many of the rooms as possible. Pro tip. If you are doing a house and garden tour leave the house thru the front door. This way you don't have to back track the gardens. Out the front door take a right to head along the back of the house and the gardens. Don't miss the greenhouse. The Japanese garden and the really all the gardens are beautiful. It's a nice walk. You can definitely get your steps in. It's a nice afternoon. We spent about 2.5 hours. Could have spent longer. But we were hungry. This was a good experience overall and fun afternoon.

Several years ago I found out that they have special tours at Christmas time where you can tour the house and each room has a different theme and you can also tour the grounds where they have Christmas light displays. I believe the tickets this past Christmas or $28 each which goes towards keeping up the estate and grounds. I feel like that's a fair price. There is so much to see in the estate and out on the grounds and I suggest coming here during the year as well for a regular tour. The Christmas decor is so beautiful each room in the estate is typically sponsored by a local business. It's so interesting to see some of the old furniture, dishes, light fixtures, truly whatever you can think of it's all so beautiful. They even have a greenhouse on the property where you can go to purchase plants, especially poinsettias for the Christmas season. They have a little concession stand where they sell things like hot chocolate, coffee, wine and beer, cookies, chili, soft pretzels, etc. Santa even stops by during certain hours where you can visit him. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to visit during the Christmas season and as a child I loved coming here during the year.
