We recently visited on a weekend getaway with some friends, and I have to say I think I enjoyed the food much much better than last time. We decided to go for dinner and went around 5:30/6:00 o'clock. We were a little worried about having to wait for a table since there were eight of us, however we must have gotten there at a good time as we didn't have to wait at all. They were immediately able to set up a table for our large group. We were seated in the front room at a table, and they also have seating outside. What's really nice about this restaurant is, it is right on the water so at times boats will pull up and dock to come in and eat. They also had live music taking place outside and were playing the music inside as well. Our server was very nice and greeted us right away. Their menu is not overly large and does contain a lot of seafood items, however if you are not a fan, as two of our friends are not, there are non-seafood items such as chicken and burgers. I was really hungry, so my husband and I started with the fried clam strip appetizer, which came out pretty quick and was served in a small boat and the clam strips were very hot. They were crispy and delicious, just what you would expect from a fried clam strip. We also ordered a couple of drinks, I went for a strawberry Margarita, and my husband went for a local beer. For food I ordered pound of steamed shrimp as well as a side of hush puppies. I absolutely love hush puppies, and these were delicious, I probably could have eaten a ton of them. For the steamed shrimp, I chose just the regular size, they also came in jumbo which one of our friends ordered. The shrimp were really good, they were very seasoned, but you did have to peel them. I would have preferred for the shrimp to already have been peeled, it would have been much easier to eat and less messy. You also lose a lot of the seasoning when you peel the shrimp. It was served with fries and hot butter to dip. I will say that my shrimp and our friends jumbo shrimp were extremely difficult to peel, we really struggled to peel them, which I think usually means they were overcooked. However, I think I might have gotten almost double the portion, there were so many shrimp that I literally could not finish them even with giving a bunch to my husband and some to our friends. There were still shrimp leftover. My husband ordered the blackened mahi platter, which came with two very large pieces of mahi, and was well seasoned. It was also served with fries. The mahi was really good. It had a great blackened flavor and the fish was cooked perfectly. Three of our friends ordered other seafood dishes which they enjoyed, and then two of our friends ordered a hamburger, which they also enjoyed. I will say that their portions are very large. The prices are pretty decent considering its seafood, however with such a large portion I would prefer for the prices to go down a couple dollars and give me a little bit less. None of us finished our plate and let's be honest seafood doesn't reheat. Overall I think everything was really good, we all very much enjoyed our food and we would come back. For our two friends who visit New Smyrna more frequently, this is one of their favorite places to come. It is probably one of my favorite places as well when we also visit New Smyrna. I would definitely say if you're in the area I would add this to your list.

It's prepared with big cubes of white cheddar, bacon, and ground meat, then pressed together into a juicy, almost cubed steak consistency, then finished off in a cast iron skillet with a sweet red sauce and sliced fresh jalapeños on top. I kid you not when I say I had to look my mother in the eyes and say this was better. The sweet, spicy, and savory flavors all melded together in my mouth in a jubilee of taste, and the skillet serving style ensured the food stayed piping hot and fresh throughout my meal. I had it with asparagus (very yummy and cooked alongside in the skillet) and au gratin potatoes (consistency and flavor of a wonderful, creamy macaroni and cheese). My parents shared the pork souvlaki. They report that it was wonderful. The pork was perfectly juicy (I hate dried out pork), and this place has the best tzatziki you'll find this side of the Mediterranean. We finished off our meal with a southern comfort classic: peach cobbler. Just like everything else, it was delicious. Ever since Cracker Barrel replaced their blackberry cobbler with the current travesty of a dessert they pretend is cobbler, I've been looking for a replacement. This hit the spot. The location is perfect for the food, too. It feels like you've just been invited into someone's house for a potluck dinner. Staggered lighting across the ceiling (with some red, green and blue lights) complete the dive look, while guitars, a Centipede arcade cabinet, and tons of chicken figurines line the room. You'll feel like you've traveled to the mountains of Appalachia as the soft bluegrass plays in the background and the smells of the kitchen caress your nostrils. Guy Fieri should have come here when he came through town a while back.
