The cake tasted just as great as it looked and at a great price, highly recommend them. 4/17/2020: I wanted a custom cake that I could drop off for a friend since we can't currently celebrate their birthday like "normal" due to social distancing rules. I messaged Doolee's via Facebook with the idea for a Tiger King themed cake and they sent an invoice I could pay online without ever going in, such a simple process! I had to make a couple of follow up calls for a sketch of the gold brick shaped cake my God daughter wanted for her golden birthday, and so they would take my credit card info to complete the order because communication was lacking. I paid ahead because I'd be out of town until Sunday and someone else would have to go to collect the $70 cake to feed 15-20 people on Saturday before they closed. Unfortunately when they collected, it looked more like a standard rectangle than the brick she sketched out, the words were poorly done - some illegible and they were inconsistent heights. It looked like an elementary aged kid had wrote the letters and we ended up buying sprinkles to try and disguise the poorly written, very amateur words. The person picking up the cake couldn't get ahold of me when they did because I was on a plane, and when I called back to express my disappointment I had to leave a message because they were closed. 1 week later and still no phone call back. The ONLY thing that makes this a LITTLE less annoying is that the cake at least tasted good - snickerdoodle and chocolate. I would avoid unless you're buying something they already made, because the skill and customer service level was lacking, and clearly they don't care to make things right when they underdeliver.

When I picked it up, it did not look like my inspiration pictures. There were purple flowers on the sides with pink one (no purple in the inspiration pic), no pearls, no vintage lattice work-just pipped the flowers on the sides with green stems (no stems in the pic) and the top writing. I was disappointed. I asked them to include blue flowers to balance out that it felt a little too girly, and they went back and added them which made it look better. I am not sure if the inspo pics got lost in the shuffle or if too much creative lee-way was taken but either way, I felt a little let down but was not going to let it ruin my day. However, on the drive home I still felt like it was pretty, but just not what I had in mind. I decided to call Bittersweet which is local to us and ask if they could add a few elements like the lattice and pearls. Faith was so kind on the phone and told me to bring it in being also clear that they aren't gluten free. I understood, but since we don't have true allergies I told her I was comfortable with them fixing it. It would not medically harm anyone if there was cross contamination. When I got there I showed her the original picture and sent it to her personal phone. Later I went to pick it up after taking my little to lunch, it came out it and was FANTASTIC! They added all the elements it was missing that I wanted and loved. It still doesn't exactly match my pictures but it looks SO cute now and I am very very happy! When I went to pay, she told me to just go enjoy my cake and that they were happy to help. THIS is how you win business, friends!! ANYTIME, I am ordering goodies, back to school treats for teachers, holiday yummies or cakes that aren't for my GF kids, I will be getting them from Bittersweet!!!! Thank you, Faith!!!

The cake itself was AMAZING!! She took the nautical theme and came up with an incredible design with a giant anchor cake topper along with a watery blue effect along the side of the cake with the baby's name in matching letters. The cake looked and tasted amazing, and I couldn't be happier about the quality and the very fair price!!
