I cannot say enough good things about the Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home and the fine service and compassion shown by owners Tom and Andrea. Through the course of my husband's illness and sudden passing, we had not had time to notify the funeral home of our intention to use their services. Tom and Andrea were very understanding and responded promptly when called upon. Plans for cremation went without a hitch, and Tom was very helpful as I took time to create the perfect urn box. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, and I know Tom and Andrea will help with details when the time comes. I appreciate their kind and gentle ways, their patience, their attention to detail, and the little things they do to help loved ones get through a very difficult and emotional time. read more

As a young man dealing with the death of my parent I had no idea where to start or what the process was once a family member passed away. The folks at Hildebrand-Russ were kind, patient, and very helpful. They listened to any and all of my concerns and were very supportive during the most terrible time a person can face. It has been a difficult process for me and Hildebrand-Russ has handled it with the delicacy and expertise I would expect of a top notch funeral home. It has been a surreal experience for me as I have only attended one other funeral in my life and I sure wasn't comfortable in this setting. But it is a quiet and respectful business and they put me at ease instantly. They went out of their way to check up on matters beyond what was necessary simply because I was lost and unsure of what to do next. They, along with hospice, have greatly helped me through this process. Hildebrand-Russ exemplifies the dignity and respect that the funerary industry should be. Wish I could have given zero stars, or 1/2 star... Where do I start with this review? Lets start with a saying I heard a cousin say, if you're going to die, don't go with 'Dignity', which just so happens to be the name of the parent company of Hildebrand-Darton-Russ Funeral Home. If you do need a funeral, you are better off having a family member dig a hole in the ground and then say a few words. You know that your remaining family members will be kindly (and fairly) treated, unlike at this place. When my father recently passed, I must say his 2nd wife and her family were fairly treated, but we, his own flesh and blood, were treated with disdain, and spoken to in a curt manner, especially by one of the funeral directors, Jessica. Never a more vile excuse for a person, especially in such a business, ever existed! If you get her, run screaming for the hills. She is a Hodag in human form. We, his children, were not allowed to assist in his funeral planning, writing his obituary, nor given the privilege of sitting in the front pews at the church, where I might add - there is more than 1 section. One daughter was even 5th row back! Lets just hope Jessica reads lips because I sure wasn't mouthing "FaceBook" to her, but the f and b sure were there. Also, at other funerals I have had to attend, the recently departed had a smile or grin on their face, or at least looked at peace with things. Our father was made to look as if in life he was a grumpy old man, which could not have been further from the truth. Our father always had a joke on his lips, a grin on his face and a larger than life smile in his heart that those around him could feel. Thanks for making him looking like a miserable grouch Another bone of contention was we prearranged with the church staff to donate the floral arrangements to the parish that we had bought for our father's funeral (since Jessica forbade us from any involvement in the funeral); despicable Jessie wouldn't hear of it. She even tried to stop our nieces from taking a flower from said arrangements (something to remember their grandfather by) and she tried to stop them. A flower, really you cantankerous old biddy? And to deny a church of the flowers promised to them by the purchaser? I think you could teach Scrooge a thing or two. This funeral home needs to realize that they are not the only company to provide this necessary service to the community. More importantly, in today's day and electronic age people's displeasure with less than spectacular customer service, word will get out. We are not just a number or an invoice bottom line; we are loved ones of the deceased who must be treated as such. Do your job and do it with the so-called "compassion" your web site states you offer! If you can't do your job, and do it well, get out of the business because there are other people more competent than yourself more willing to take your communities dollar for services rendered (and for a job better done). read more

Hildebrand Funeral Home is under new management by Tom Kniewl. Our son recently passed away and the services were nothing short of phenomenal! Prompt, Courteous, and Professional Service was given every step of the way. The attention to detail could not have been handled any better. I cannot say enough about the wonderful service we received from Tom and Andrea Kniewel at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home. I knew that Hildebrand's had changed hands a few times in the last several years. Hildebrand's is definitely in the right hands now. Working with Hildebrand's for our recent family funeral very much simplified the amount of work our family had to do for this funeral. It was almost like one-stop shopping. Hildebrands have a binder with suggestions for the caskets, bible verses, psalms, songs, etc. that simplified the entire process. Most families have a budget and cannot afford to spend $10,000+ on a funeral. Of course, the casket is the greatest single expense there is for the funeral. The FTC oversees funeral homes and now allows people to purchase caskets online at a greatly reduced cost, if desired. That was not necessary at Hildebrand's. Hildebrand's offers packages that include the cost of an absolutely beautiful (yet much lower cost) casket, grave vault liner, handling of the remains, vehicles, memorial package, video tribute, transportation, visitation and service at the church and cemetery, not to mention things like the guest register, memorial cards, thank you cards, and use of the Hildebrand Banquet Room. Since our loved one was a veteran, Hildebrand's arranged for military honors, which included not only the three-volley rifle salute from the local VFW, but also a special military detail from the Marine Corp, which included the playing of taps and the folding and presentation of the flag. It was a beautiful service and ceremony. We did not even choose the lowest price package, yet we saved a tremendous amount of money compared to the funeral homes we have used in the past. Hildebrand's is not afraid to advertise their package deals and prices right on their website. They do not play on your sympathy and try to talk you into more expensive caskets for the individual you just lost. Tom and Andrea were absolutely fabulous to work with. They are total professionals and extremely respectful. I would highly recommend their services to anyone. read more
