PLEASE READ TO THE BOTTOM, THESE PEOPLE WERE SUED BY THE GOV FOR DECEPTIVE PRACTICES..the phone number is the key (no pun intended)..it leads to several different websites and locations... DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE! Ripped me off. Attempted to "pick" the lock (the "locksmith" didn't know I went to a lock pick class) by giggling the handle. Suddenly? he couldn't get it done. States it has to be drilled. Was quoted over the phone $35/hr $19/trip, max charge $160. I figure I'm in the hole for $55, so drill the damned thing (I own a drill, btw) What do I find out? All of 10 mins cost me $160..why? Drill outs are more expensive. JUST DONT DO IT!!! Calling Discover right away to fight the billing AND going to go with a BBB complaint. This company needs to be shut down YESTERDAY. I wish I went on Yelp before phoning these guys, but I was desperate. DO NOT go to Rhode Island Locksmith. 1) They showed up 40 minutes late. 2) After trying to open my door for five minutes, the guy said that he couldn't unlock my door unless they drilled open the lock. 3) I told them that I didn't want to drill it, so they packed up and charged me $70!!! For not doing a damn thing. I might understand the $35 travel fee, but the guy tacked on $35 for labor. He worked on the lock for 5 minutes!!! And DIDN'T FIX IT! Avoid at all cost. I'm surprised these guys are not facing a lawsuit, judging by all of the people they've been pissing off. read more

Same as everyone else. Rip off!! When I first tried to find reviews on them I types RI Locksmith and nothing came up. Wish I tried Rhode Island and saw these reviews. Came out to fix a car key for one price and charged another price. Also didn't give me the key I asked for. After some research, i find out the locksmith scam is a huge issue in every state. You basically call into a call center. There is no manager. You are always talking to the same person when they call back. Fight any payment with your credit card company, continue to right bad reviews and file something with the AG and BBB. read more

My son and his friend had locked a door in our basement for which I no longer had the key. Of course, this happened Saturday evening after dinner and inside the room were their computers and where they had planned to sleep that night! The next morning, I called Rhode Island Locksmith because their website advertised a 20 minute response time and a 10% coupon for emergencies. The technician made me feel badly about the efforts I'd made to get into the room (drilling the lock incorrectly). Before he bashed in the door handle, he quoted me $165 for the service. When he handed me the bill, there was also a $55 fee which had not mentioned. Also, the 10% coupon was actually a $10 coupon. Not a big fan of false advertising and snarky service people. read more

Do not use this company! They lie, cheat and steal! They came to my house to program 2 car keys. They quoted me $75 for the entire job. I was confirmed this twice. Once they got to my house they said oh well this key would actually be $250 to program. That's for one key! They said the whole job for both keys would be $75. At that point if I was smart I would have sent them away. But I didn't. He worked on my car. I had the wrong key so he was unable to program. He charged me $35. I paid him. In the morning I went to start my car. I had a dead battery. He had left the overhead light on. So I got my car started. Then I noticed that a light that indicates someone attempted to break into my car was blinking. So then I decided to try my remote starter. Well, the starter would no longer work. So I called 247 Rhode Island Locksmith. I told them that my car was worse off then when he started working on it. They told me that I should have checked the car after he worked on it and the dead battery was my fault. Eventually I was told that someone in billing would call me back. Didn't hear back. So I called again. They said billing was closed. To call back tomorrow. I asked for a manager. The manager was gone for the day. This went on for days and into weeks. Either the manager "Rita" was gone for the day or in a "meeting". Never had a single call returned. Every time I called I was put on hold and never picked up. So I called a lot. At one point I was told that they would block my number. I got the Attorney General involved. 247 sent me the $35 back but only because I had to involve the Attorney General. My car cost more than $35 just to get it back to where it was before they came out and broke it. Also, they do not have an address listed anywhere. They are not local as they claim to be. Google (888) 418-5009. It will come up with companies all over. The name they have listed under BBB is Speedy Locksmith. They are also listed under Boston Locksmith and Security. They claimed to be Angie's List approved and BBB A+. I called both companies and let them know that 247 Rhode Island Locksmith was false advertising. 247 have since taken the advertisements down. Please stay clear. They will lie and cheat you out of your money. read more

WARNING: The locksmith took twice as long as their maximum wait time to get here, so long that my landlord found a spare key and got me in my apartment before they did. When I called to cancel, he was very frustrated and said I had to pay the service fee, but not for the service. When he got here, he charged me for the service as well and said "Don't you want to pay cash? It's only $49." When I mentioned the service fee should only be $19, all he said was "it's a cancellation." Businesses don't recommend payment methods, and it seemed all too much as if he was trying to make it more difficult for me to get a refund for a charge I shouldn't have had to pay. Customer service says they'll get back to me within 3-5 days, but looking at these reviews, who knows if I'll actually get a solution. read more

This place LIES. We called them for a simple lockout, and they said that it was $35 for the service call and then $30 to $60 for the lock, depending on the lock. I asked the man to confirm this, twice. Then they dispatched our call, and when the dispatched locksmith called, he said $75 for the house call, $30 and up for the lock. We argued, he said fine, $35 for the service call. Showed up 35 mins later, and said the total price would be $175. We of course argued, and he wouldn't budge. RIP OFF ARTISTS, DO NOT USE. Took my daughter to the cleaners. Lost her car key, they quoted $135 to come out to work and make her a new key: and ended up being $500 for one frigging key and an alleged "recode" that took 1 second. No chance to explain the situation or anything. I wish I could give negative stars and drop the f bomb every other word. This place is TERRIBLE! NEVER contact them for service. I just broke my key off in my ignition while the car was running. I called AAA and they said it would be about 90 minutes. So I called around and this place said 20 to 40 minutes and I booked a service with them. I was told a tech would call in ten minutes to confirm. An HOUR later they hadn't called. I called back five times to no avail. First time, the person had the tone they couldn't believe the technician hadn't called me and said they would call me back in ten minutes. Fifteen minutes go by with no call. I called back and he told me I need to be patient it would be a few more minutes. (Now it's been at least an hour and half since my original call. I should have stuck with AAA.) Around two hours after my original call I called back - three times. No answer and the mailbox is full. I called AAA back and they were here within 30 minutes. The car is off and spare key works. It's now nearly 3 hours later and I just got a call from their technician, "It's probably too late but he just wanted me to call and make sure you're okay." Lesson learned always always stick with AAA. This place is a joke. read more

Believe all of the terrible reviews on here. Customer service is awful. The person I spoke to today to address an issue with a previous job hung on on me. When I tried calling back, he kept sending me over to voicemail, which was full. After several attempts, he finally picked up and proceeded to tell me I was "belligerent." When I asked him to give me an example, he hung up on me again. I wound up calling another locksmith. Avoid at all costs! read more

i had locked my keys in my car and called these people. showed up about 45 min later. i asked him how much it would cost and they told me depends on the lock. they unlocked my car in 5 mins and charged me $175.00. i wanted to cry. charged me $45 for service call, then charged me $130.00 for unlocking the door. do i feel like a horses ass, yes i do. take my advice, do not use this locksmith they will rip you off. i got burned and i learned. dot read more

Believe what you read. Do not use these people. They go under multiple names Narragansett Locksmith, Westerly Locksmith, Rhode Island Locksmith, etc. DO NOT USE THEM. If someone answers by saying service call or simply locksmith...do not use them. Go with a real company that uses one company name They charged me 473.00 for 4 locks.
