Taco Tuesday, I guess the menu should be say two tacos, rice and one tea spoon of beans. Reason I say that is because they barely put any beans in the bowl. So sad because, beans are the cheapest thing on the plate.

Take not the serving size of those beans

***just the kitchen*** I use to rave about their food but lately it's completely went down hill. This picture is from taco Tuesday and the beans weren't even a quarter full??? When they first started this special it was amazing but the kitchen with all their meals are really slacking. Everything from the grilled cheese to their "spoon size" serving of beans. Highly disappointed since it started out so well. ***bar service **** AMAZING! The staff that waits on you is completely separate from the kitchen. (From what I hear they are separate all together; pay and all so please don't blame the wait staff for the kitchen) wish they would make a yelp for the wait staff apart from the kitchen. I would give them a much higher rating.

They have different activities and specials everyday of the week. I had a club sandwich and added on a fried egg, my husband has the highway burger. Very, very good. PERFECT fried egg and high quality greens used but by sitting on the porch in the late evening and not drinking adult beverages, you risk being " neglected", no biggie. Service was a good speed. We opted to sit on the porch because it was jukebox night and too loud indoors. There are many large scale games ( giant Jenga/connect4) and some kids (kids by my definition 20's) were playing Cornhole in the parking lot. The only minuses they get are out of their control. The parking lot is small and riddled with pot holes and the porch area has a light sewage smell, NOT the fault of the restaurant. Excelle no t food , great late night hours.

The onion rings are good. But you don't get what you pay for. $7.99 for just a hand full of onion rings. Recommend the food but not the prices for what you get.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. Amazing flavorful food that leaves you happily satisfied. Includes a wide variety of delicious meals. Homey meals and feels!! The wings were very good and the cowboy fries hit the spot. Definitely coming here again!

The food was just ok. The beer was cold and reasonably priced. Not the best dining experience more of a bar.

Awesome employees take care of your every need. Great bar food and even though its focus is on beer…read morethey can please the wine drinker as well.

Our Monday Night at SoS (another review by an out-of-towner)…read more Following our indulgence at Friday's (see previous review), we headed to Shiner on Sixth for some delicious refreshments, originating from just about half a mile up the road. The bartender was dealing with some business so we took a look around and racked the table (75¢ a game if you can believe it). While we waited we also started talking with some locals. They were all very friendly and let us know the bartender would be back real soon. I'm an outgoing guy, so I took the opportunity to ask a ton of questions. Shiner is such an interesting place - like what I think Austin was in the actual heyday of the 60s and 70s. Genuinely weird, but in a good way, not the disingenuously exclusive conformity that parades as bizarre, and is so prevalent these days. Wandering around Shiner is surreal. It's like being in a living, breathing work of art. Some might think that, in a small Texas town like Shiner, artistry wouldn't be so prevalent. These people have never been to the hill country towns of Texas. The locals we spoke to were proud to hear our appraisals and praise. After some chitchat, the bartender arrived. We asked the bartender, Stacy, if we could bring in our gizzards from Friday's - which she readily allowed. Since there were so many gizzards provided in the order, I was able to offer some to everyone. Those that accepted did so gratefully, and immediately identified them as being from Fridays because they were of such high quality (check out my Friday's review for more info). Back to SoS: The two pool tables were very smooth with good felt. One was already open so my wife and I hit that one. We were able to easily converse together with the music being audible, but not overwhelmingly so. Speaking of music, I never heard it stop. The house sticks, of which there were many and varying in weight, were moderate - used but still playable and rolled pretty evenly on the table. Next time we might bring our McDermotts. I've definitely seen worse sticks. These were of a little less quality than you'd find at a dedicated pool hall. The beverages were delectable, with a good selection of local varieties and some more typical brands if you're wanting something more familiar. On the Monday night we were there, pours were $3.50. A helluva deal, if you ask me. I recommend a local pour because, as the adjusted saying goes: When in Shiner, do as the (Shiners? Shinerinians? Shinerites?) do. I'm gonna call em Shiners. So do as the Shiners do. On the topic of locals, Shiners were wildly accepting and even grateful for our presence. A few stand out points: The cultural representation was diverse. I like to believe it's because this place is such a great place to be. Everyone received us well and accepted us to their pool tables as we wandered back and forth. This place was so welcoming that we felt no such apprehension. Everyone more than ready to cheer us on when we did well and rub us when we placed a poor shot. Nobody was overly loud or raucous. Sure, conversations were lively but not overtly so. Some folks were a bit more reserved, but not unfriendly. The atmosphere: I'll let the pictures (mostly) speak for themselves. I like to take PoV pictures to give an idea of what a patron can expect to experience. These are mixed with some shots of some of the eye-pleasingly unique stuff you'll come across if you visit. I'm a guy, so there's no shots of the ladies' room. However, when I asked my wife if their restrooms were clean, she responded "Very." One sign in particular cracked me up. Someone used a bit of graffito to draw in a face mask, but (I believe) intentionally drew them wearing it wrong. Hilarious bit of easy social commentary! Another bit that struck me as amusing was a scratched up comedic sign about those having "short bats" standing closer. Did the vandal use their short bat to scratch it up? ;P There's an enclosed double decker porch outside, ensconced in tavern-type artistry. Be warned: there is some loud game people play out there, akin to cornhole, but with large flat washers. You can't hear it inside, but you can't miss it outside. The Upshot: If you're in the mood for some nighttime beverages (adult or otherwise) this is likely your best bet in Shiner. Evidently there's a more club type spot, but it's only open a three nights a week (as of March 2024). All that said, if you're the discerning snooty type that doesn't like dive bars then you probably won't be happy here. If you're into kitschy, country, hippy, friendly places with good prices, you'll fit right in. Pro tip: Bring some chicken gizzards and a jovial attitude. You'll be welcomed with open arms.

Similar to other recently opened venues that serve beer on tap and feature both indoor and outdoor spaces, there is something available for all ages in your party. Though parking is free in their lot, it does quickly fill up as the evening progresses. Our friends had reserved a few tables outside, but it also turned out to be the coldest day of the year, so we ended up settling inside. We sampled sliders, hot dogs, flat breads, pizza, pretzels, nachos, and chicken lollipops, which were served in metal catering trays along a long table. All the food items that were ordered were good. We did not order anything to drink, but the servers did a great job of coming by our tables to see if we needed anything throughout the evening, and he had quite a large party. The outdoor space is pretty large, with open areas of turf for lawn games and kids to run around. There is also ample outdoor seating, with a few food trucks along the outer part of the venue. Not sure if these are left out year-round, but they had these fire pit space heater/light sources between the tables that provided a nice touch to the outdoor space, especially as the evening grew darker. Although we don't live nearby, this was a great spot to celebrate a birthday, hang out with friends, date night, etc. I definitely recommend this place if you live on this side of town.

With a name like Beer Garden I had NO clue they had craft cocktails. And such an ample selection…read more.. cocktail categories of refreshing & balanced, booze/spirit forward, tiki, tart, sweet & an entire list of over 60 classic cocktails! The atmosphere is really great & with inside, outside, & lounge seating, they have a vibe for everyone. - Inside is a large open area and the beers bar is located there. - Outside you have covered & uncovered seating and both areas lend themselves to a large group/party. Also there is an artificial grass open area which is setup for a great space for the kids to play. - The lounge is where the cocktail bartenders are located and is an inside, chill adult vibe. You order your beer or cocktails at the respective bars and then take your drink to your preferred inside, outside or lounge seating. If you order food at the bar, they give you a number & the food will be brought out to you. I was thoroughly impressed with the place, the concept. I hung out in the lounge so I can only speak about that service. All the bartenders were super friendly. They quickly acknowledged patrons as they approached the bar. Shout out to bartender, Rojas. He gave great drink recommendations based on sharing your preferences and was also great to talk to. I didn't have any food because they were out of chicken sliders & chicken lollipops. It was a Saturday late afternoon. On my way out I saw 2 food trucks on property by the patio area where u can order food. I highly, highly recommend trying this place! My experience was 4.5 stars, leaning toward 5. I will definitely return & may have to upgrade my rating after I eat & get one more experience here.
