I did not want a burger, I did not want chicken fingers....I ordered a sad, oil tasting fish yuck sandwich. 52 dollars for three meals and one order of hush puppies. 52 dollars!!! I went to fixins bar for mayo. Mustard stuck and dried all over, ketchup stuck on the squirty thing where mayo comes out. Nope. Sat at a table by the window with my family. Started to eat, looked outside and there was a huge splatter of vomit in the parking spot in front of the window. That just did me in. Done. Never again.

What the hell is up with that? Secondly there are not enough rest areas along the way. So running out of gas is a definite possibility. Thirdly there are horrible big tall dividers right in the middle of the road that make driving in the fast lane treacherous and make the visuals look more like a video game then a real Road and I'm talking a very monotonous video game. A sh** video game. One you'd never want to play. It can go f*** itself. I cannot stand many highways in Pennsylvania and this one is the worst of them all, and don't get me started on the awful selection at the few rest stops that do exist. I thought the New York Thruway was bad but this one takes the cake. And I mean literally. It's so bad that if I had a lovely slice of cake, and it got taken, I'd f***ing blame this f***ing sh**hole of a road.

Overall it was a good spot to stop, stretch our legs and switch drivers, but beware of the tight parking lot, especially later in the day when the trucks call it a night.

Centrally located between the northbound and southbound roadways, Maryland House is easily accessed from the left lane. It is bright and airy with a variety of food options in addition to Phillip's. Table seating is in the central open area, and there are tables outside as well. There are rest rooms, an information center, and large parking lots. A gasoline station and EV charging stations can be found in the same travel plaza.

They didn't have a wheel chair, BUT we made it work and used a conference chair! Lovely lady that worked there helped us roll her to the bathroom, avoiding all the cracks!! It has added so much depth and feeling to my life. One thing that it has not improved, however, is long car rides. I don't think I need to explain more, but children (and babies in particular) are logistical nightmares. Thank God for Smyrna rest stop. Conventiently close to the highway, it offers fairly clean bathrooms, gardens, trees and a full playground. The only thing it lacks is a decent lunch option. (I think this is a state issue, DE doesn't allow fast food at state rest areas) Realistically then, this may be the best legally, most legally compliant rest area in all of Delaware, and a welcome oasis for road weary parents and babies.

A colleague asked if his burger could be cooked to medium she said no that it had to be cooked all the way through. I wanted a pizza minus olives and wanted to add mushrooms. She said no they didn't have mushrooms. There I conclude that the food is pre cooked or prepared and they just heat it up. It's not the worse place I've stayed, and I would come back but just order food to be delivered.

The hotel is clean, and the beds are comfortable. Despite being right next to the airport, we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the rooms were - we didn't hear planes landing or taking off at all. The stay includes free breakfast, which is a nice bonus. However, I do wish they had a bit more variety. The only meat option was turkey sausage, and the only oatmeal offered was apple cinnamon. It would be great if they added bacon or regular sausage, and a plain oatmeal option for those who don't care for turkey meat or cinnamon and apples in oatmeal. Overall, we like staying here because the location is excellent, and the price is much better than staying directly in Hershey - a big money saver without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Who ever cleaned the room needs to not use a wet rag to wipe the tv you can see the dirty water streaks on the tv. One last thing the small fridge sucks, if you don't push the yellow button if you want to use it your things you put in it will not get cold and then it will only stay on for a few hrs then cuts back off. Not a good setup, I understand trying to save energy but let the maids turn them dow. So for the fridge the dirty tv and on regular bacon or sausage is my reason for only 4 stars.
