Please be careful of Dr Veronica Walker!…read more My daughter was visiting from out of town and was struggling with a UTI. Dr Walker prescribed ciprofloxacin. Cipro has a BLACK BOX WARNING! It's well and widely known that cipro is a DANGEROUS medication and should only be prescribed as a last resort. News articles, cdc, fda, nhs, Mayo Clinic, clinical journals and personal stories warning about the dangers of cipro and this doctor prescribed it for a minor uti. Dr Walker should have her medical license reviewed! There are SEVERAL other less dangerous UTI medications that could have been prescribed such as Keflex, Macrobid, Macrodantin or Monurol. Occasionally there are new medical advancements and new information that comes out...we don't use leaches any longer to cure headaches and we shouldn't be flippantly prescribing cipro any longer. From a simple search... and then there are articles after articles! "Cipro (ciprofloxacin) should only be prescribed by doctors as a last resort for severe infections when no other options exist, due to severe, permanent, and disabling side effects. The FDA and other agencies have warned against its use for common, uncomplicated infections like sinusitis, bronchitis, and simple urinary tract infections (UTIs). Risks: It carries FDA "black box" warnings for risks including tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system effects, and mental health issues."

It's happened twice if not three times and I've gone straight to the Care Center. Long story short, I had a great experience. The office was clean, smelled lovely and the doctor was thorough and professional. The doctor immediately determined by a urine culture the type of bacteria I had electronically put in a prescription for me and I was good to go. I am now looking for a GYN and general practitioner in the area.

-- Yelp Old Fart Review! -…read more Yup, I'm 72 and us older folks often need lots of tests. I have been using this hospital for about 12 years. I've reviewed them before, but this is an update focusing on their testing services! But wait you say, "I've been using one of those two big testing chains that seem to be everywhere." One of those is much closer to me, but I still go here for testing and here's why- 1. Easy Parking- Park in the big front entrance lot. If you are mobility impaired or just not feeling well, a volunteer in a golf cart will pick you up at your car and run you to the front door. 2. Wonderful Hours- 6AM-5PM M-F. 3. No Appointment Needed- I usually wait less than 10 minutes. Note that if you desire, the app will let you make an appointment. Pro Tip- A lot of folks have an order for a "fasting" blood test. So, they fast overnight and show up first thing in the morning. The morning rush ends around 10AM. 4. Solid App- Generally you get your results the same time your Dr. does. 5. Crazy Fast Results. Most folks get some type of blood test or urinalysis, and I've done both many times. My drive home is 7 miles and usually, while I'm driving, my app notifies me the results are available! That's incredible! As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of testing here. When you're going for these tests, you're already under some stress because something might be wrong. The last thing you need is more stress and I don't experience that here! 5 stars!

Angelica took me through security and onto Jennifer, the concierge, in almost no time. Jennifer already knew my name and had paperwork in hand, and with that, she showed me my next stop with Dana who knew exactly why I was there and told me that the wait wouldn't be long, and she was right. No sooner did she say that than Rod, the person who was doing the ultrasounds that day, was introducing himself and telling me how easy the procedure would be. He made it so :) The hospital is immaculate, the staff are the BEST EVER, and I am so grateful to have access to such a wonderful hospital! Just want to say thank you to Angelica, Jennifer, Dana, and to Rod who made me feel like I was in good hands at HCA.

My barely 25‑year‑old daughter, Taylor, died after what multiple independent physicians and an…read moreautopsy have confirmed was reckless medical negligence and neglect in an HCA Florida Hospital where she was taken after being rear‑ended at a red light. Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. I sat there listening to them talk about what lousy sleep they had the night before and how tired they were. The registrar returned about 20 minutes later and checked me in. During that wait I also listened to the "provider" talk on the phone t a patient who was obviously concerned about an antibiotic she was prescribed. I couldn't believe a medical profession could speak so rudely to a patient. Out of the five staff members I came in contact with the Nurse was the only one that showed any professionalism and compassion. The "provider" was a nightmare. It was like dealing with a perky 13 year old and after being sick for a week I was in no mood. There was not an ounce of professionalism or compassion. She was sending a prescription to the local pharmacy. It was not received by then later that day. I called and left a voicemail. Checked with the pharmacy the next day and still not received. Called the clinic and was told the "provider" said she had sent it to them. I explained that I was just told they did not have it and by the way, do you check your voicemails? Was told she would ask the provider if she would call it over to the pharmacy. Over 24 hours later I'm still waiting for the pharmacy to notify me they have it. Absolute worst medical experience I've ever had. Never again. Okeechobee desperately needs a new Urgent Care facility
