Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. At the time of my visit, I was informed by the receptionist that my total charge would be $283. When I asked about my insurance coverage, she stated that after the first of the year, the first bill must be paid in full by the patient. Based on this representation, I paid the $283. This explanation did not sit well with me. Approximately four weeks later, I contacted Humana directly to verify my responsibility for the visit. I was informed that, under my policy, I was only responsible for a $50 copayment. I explained to Humana what had occurred at True Compassion Urgent Care, and a conference call was arranged with their billing department. During the call, Rafael from Billing stated that Humana had never paid the claim and that he was therefore retaining my payment. However, Humana advised him during that same call that payment had in fact been issued three weeks prior. This situation raises serious concerns, as it appears I was charged the full amount despite the insurance payment having already been processed. Had I not contacted Humana to question the charge, I believe this overpayment would not have been brought to my attention. Additionally, Rafael was extremely rude during the conference call with both Humana and myself and ultimately disconnected the call. The following day, I contacted the city to report what I believe to be improper billing practices. I also called True Compassion Urgent Care and left a message for the medical assistant requesting a return call, but my message was not returned. After I informed the receptionist that I intended to report the matter and that I believed the billing practices were improper, Rafael contacted me shortly thereafter and offered to return my money. Had I not independently pursued clarification with my insurance company, True Compassion Urgent Care would have retained $283, when my actual responsibility was only $50 -- resulting in a $233 overpayment on my part.

Which has never been a problem before. My prescriptions had completely ran out and I need at least a re-up on my Dexcom monitoring device, which has nothing to do with my blood sugars other than monitoring. The nurse told me I have to be seen with bloodwork done. I told her I am in debt with LabCorp and I couldn't afford bloodwork at this moment. I just need sensors prescription re-up that will give me time to pay off LabCorp and get blood work done so they can assess my insulin needs. I've always understood the protocol and I don't have a problem with it. With even the fact that I am in a hardship situation financially she still would not do the prescription or talk to anybody about it. I have never been retreated so coldly and rudely to have a protocol put above my life. I would've even have taken a sample but no, I guess it's either get your blood work done or die. So I hope anybody reading this understands what they're getting themselves into when they go to this doctor's office. Dr. offices are supposed to help people not make things worse. I've always been a good patient for them and now it seems I am not.

"Cipro (ciprofloxacin) should only be prescribed by doctors as a last resort for severe infections when no other options exist, due to severe, permanent, and disabling side effects. The FDA and other agencies have warned against its use for common, uncomplicated infections like sinusitis, bronchitis, and simple urinary tract infections (UTIs). The doctor immediately determined by a urine culture the type of bacteria I had electronically put in a prescription for me and I was good to go.
