I called him about pressure washing my solar panels. He came by the next day and did a great job, now my panels are generating power like they used to. He also noted that I had a lot of bad moss and mold growing on my roof, and suggested I let him clean it. For the roof he used a scrubber and detergent, so now my roof looks like new. I hired Highland Cleaning Service to soft wash my mobile home. Over the phone he told me approximately $680. Short recap of the nightmare that transpired: For some reason, he started the job on a small portion of fence for neighbor - 4 wood panels and charged her $200. She okay'd chemical wash and treatment of her side. We had a lengthy discussion that I did not want any chemicals on my side of fence as I love the stain color that was on there. He then chemical washed a portion on my side, saying, "doesn't it look better?" I was so bummed, near tears. Now it looks as if I will have to re-stain that portion of fence. He worked about one and half hours and left for lunch. When he returned, he backed into the mail box breaking it, the 4x4 snapped off at the ground. Next he went on roof. For some reason he only washed half the roof. When I asked him to finish the rest of roof, he agreed it would be "a good idea to wash the shingles too." (what?) I kind of thought the shingles were a part of washing the roof. Then he washed only half the windows, 9 of them he didn't even remove the screens. While he was packing up to leave, I noticed he had not washed under the carport. He informed me that he had "not concentrated on that part of the carport." True, he had not even washed it. When I asked him to complete the job, he said he would, but I would have to re-clean the windows on that side of house. Basically, when he left, he had cleaned only 1/3 of the outside of windows, and he did NOT do the inside of any. Worst part of all, he walked on my aluminum roof. I explained multiple times not to walk on that roof. He got on roof anyway and I about fainted. I talked to him again and asked please don't walk on that roof. He said it would be fine. I said, no please don't do it. Shortly thereafter, he got back on the aluminum roof a second time to clean gutter. I literally ran out and told him again to get off the aluminum covered patio roof. After all this, he handed me an invoice for $1,435, I paid. The next day I told him I was not satisfied and asked for a refund of $400 for the incomplete job, the mess left behind, and the damaged mail box. He said something like I chose to have house washed and needed to accept responsibility for the decisions I made (really??) I agree. I made a horrible decision when I hired him. Very expensive lesson. Neighbor was not happy with her side, her exact words were "highway robbery." We are both seniors on fixed income and we were robbed. So very sad. He did offer to come back and wash the windows as originally contracted to do, and he did not own up to breaking mailbox even though I saw it happen. I told him I did not want him back and that I would be satisfied with refund of $400. He said no, he "has bills to pay and Google costs alot of money." read more
