I first met with Lilly at the front with a very warm welcome. Next, I saw Delia for my consult. My hair is so thin and fine due to loss of hair from recent stress and life. After careful review and over 30 minutes of consulting with me, she explained that I was not a good candidate for the type of extensions she does. With that said, she ask me to wait while she consults with another co-worker. Alyssa came over and talked to me about other ways to install hair extensions and she felt like she could help me. As it turned out they just happened to have my exact color in the shop that day (they normally have to order your color). So, she played around and showed me what the outcome could look like. She just so happened to have an opening the following Tuesday for me to come in. This is normally a 3 plus hour appointment, but she made it happen. Perfect timing as I was leaving on Thursday for Atlanta for family celebrating, then the following Thursday for Vegas for vacation. She spent 5 hours with me and my hair looks Amazing. On a quiet Thursday afternoon (well before the city would come alive with holiday tourists on the weekend), my friend and I hiked around the historic district to find a salon that could fit me in on short notice. After getting on the cancellation list at two different salons, we found Shine. The receptionist warmly welcomed us and I immediately felt less intimidated than I was at the previous two salons we tried. We happened to come at the right time, as Amy G. was able to fit me in with only a 10-minute wait. When we explained our blind-hairstyle-experiment-of-trust, she got so excited to be in on the plan. She was absolutely game for it! She offered her expertise in choosing a style based on the weight of my hair from the examples my friend provided. She's fast (with my dry haircut), detailed, and made sure the style looked even with how my hair is parted. Amy also took the time to fill us in on the insider scoop of Savannah-where to go, what to eat, what's overrated, what we should see. Ultimately, I'm glad we found Amy. This is not to say that they don't do a high quality job though. My hair is slightly longer than a pixie, and a very quick cut/trim after my coloring added $65 to my tab. That's bonkers. I might understand that price for someone with long hair who wants layering/texturing/new bangs, etc. but they should consider pricing their cuts on different levels. Also, the balayage was considerably more expensive than at my last salon in Austin - where everything is already stupid expensive. My only issue was the price of the services are based on the skill of the stylist and the amount of time. So since I was with a master stylist my blowout should have been $75 opposed to the $55 that I paid and the $45 that is advertised on their price list. I will have to take a look at the price list to see if there is a running scale on the prices advertised. I questioned the price and the stylist was polite in explaining how everything is calculated. I probably won't be back because I can't afford $75 blowouts every week. I like to have my hair blown out every week so I look for more aggressive pricing.
