While my wife was getting her hair washed, our son's haircut was done, so she didn't get to see the result until the very end. Her haircut itself was fine, but the blow dry was poorly done. The stylist only straightened the mid-lengths and ends, leaving the top 2-3 inches at the roots curly and frizzy. When she pointed this out, the stylist said it was "because her hair is curly." She explained that she had plenty of blowouts before and that the roots are always smoothed. He offered to flat iron it, but that's not what she wanted. She expected a proper blowout, not bone-straight hair. When she told him that he should've been upfront if he couldn't do a blowout, he got defensive and raised his voice. She wasn't going to let anyone speak to her disrespectfully, so she raised her voice too. At that point, the other stylist stepped in to re-wet her hair, and my wife used her own curly hair products and just left with her hair natural. Then she looked at our son's haircut and it was visibly uneven and crooked. When she brought it up, both stylists insisted it was "just the way curly hair looks" or that she was "pulling on a strand." That wasn't the case, it was just a bad, rushed cut. They did offer to fix it, but by then she'd lost all confidence in their ability to do so. If you don't know how to properly work with curly hair, cutting it or blowing it out , just say so. This wasn't our first time here, and her previous experience was decent, but this visit was disappointing. It felt rushed and careless, and that simply doesn't work with curly hair. We won't be coming back.

Last time I came here back in February they had just opened and I got a great cut from the owner Angelia, so I wanted to get my hair cut from her again but she was fully booked today. Luckily they have since added a couple more stylists and I was able to book an appointment with another stylist- Henny. At first I was a little apprehensive as I had been hoping to get another cut from Angelia but I was thoroughly impressed; Henny's fresh and stylish cut makes me look so much younger. Normally I would not post pictures of a haircut but a picture is a thousand words? Over the past few years I have had several haircuts in the Boston area that cost more and none of them were as good as the two haircuts I've gotten here... wish I lived closer!

And inside it is SPACIOUS, with numerous different rooms... which means they are set-up really well for distancing. (I was impressed.) The one thing to be careful about is your exit. If you need to make a left turn across Baltimore Pike and if traffic is busy, I recommend you go right instead and do a u-turn at the first traffic light. (Much easier and safer.) I have been following this place for the years since it opened and its rave reviews but somehow I never made it here as I was stuck in the rut of "State-Street-in -Media -only" hairdressing. There's approximately 11 salons on that street and small side streets so that is the area in Western Delaware County where everybody goes. State Street is the happening place to go to get your hair done. Chrome isn't within the downtown area per se but on the outskirts out by the Media bypass. And this is one of the reasons why I jumped out of my comfort zone and gave it a shot because they have their own parking lot and that's worth it's weight in gold instead of driving around for 10 minutes trying to find a parking spot in busy Downtown Media. That's where the differences end. This salon is just as active, vibrant ,upbeat and in tune with current styles and products as all those overpriced State Street salons. I tend to only want to stay with hairdressers for about five years so I was looking for somebody new and I selected SHERI M. I was not disappointed. She spent her time looking at my hair and the suggestions she had were great. This was indicative of her vast experience as a hairdresser. She has a true "feel "for her clients. The first time I went she cut my hair and I was very happy with it so I scheduled a foil touchup three weeks later. I was beyond happy with how I looked after I left there. When she found that I sometimes like to go to bed with my hair damp because it comes out wavy and curly in the morning, she suggested a product to put in before bedtime that would keep the curls intact but eliminate the frizz that has seemed to have developed in my hair in the last year. I love that this is a family owned and run salon. I hadn't met the owners but I met a man there recently who was doing shampooing who was somehow related to the family and he gave me the history of how Chrome came about. It was also interesting to hear that they had recently started their own hairdressing Academy. All in all you'll get a great feel for Chrome and enjoy your experience there.
