I was looking for a good hairstylist preferably in NE Philadelphia. I have thick hair and wanted graduated layers to accentuate my hair. All hair stylist are not the same!!! I had wanted someone good as I was frustrated with not getting what I wanted. I visited High Tech Hair Studio on Tuesday, 1/29/19 and was greeted by someone at the front desk 'Sam' who was friendly and efficient as I asked him: " Who here does the best job layering hair?" Sam answered: "Everyone is good here." I was happy to hear that and suddenly I was greeted by the owner, Lisa, who listened as I explained what I wanted. She told Sam to book me with her. Today I was welcomed by Lisa who remembered my visit on Tuesday. She had her assistant take me and wash my hair ( which by the way was like a total head massage). Thereafter, I showed Lisa the photo, she remembered what I spoke about and transformed my hair to the style I wanted!! What a great experience to have exactly what I asked for with great layering from an experienced stylist!!! Oh by the way, I have long hair and am 66 and look like I am 55 now... Lisa is the best! I felt unwelcome during my first and only visit--as if I intruded in a bar reserved for the locals. Staff made little or no effort to get to know me. I honestly believe one patron sneered at me. The person assigned to cut my hair seemed uncomfortable using scissors. And when I made the mistake of consenting to clippers, they disregarded my instructions, hacked away, and gave me a generic barbershop haircut--for twice the price of a generic barbershop haircut. The hair cutter knew I wasn't satisfied but made no gesture to compensate. I wasn't in the mood to argue so I just paid and left. I regret that now. read more

They are now taking every precausion to make you feel safe during these times and go over and beyond to make you leave there feeling like you want to go out on the town. I am a blonde and have to say that they always make my highlights look fabulous! I've had color, highlights, bronde, cuts, up-dos, make up and nails done here. Not once was I disappointed! I even had a color fix done after an unfortunate visit to a different salon. The stylists get trained on the new trends which is fantastic, not so many places do that. So if you want to get NOT a plain-Jane cut, color or whatever it is you want to get done this is the right place for you. Today I had an appt with Tori...I needed my hair cut super short and colored. I just needed a drastic change... first off the salon is beautiful. The staff is super professional and welcoming. This was my first time at this salon and it's scary to trust a new person with my hair lol. Tori was absolutely a pleasure!!! Gave me great advice on my hair and what would work best for me. I ONLY go to Megan at High Tech to get my nails done. She is the best!!! After a regular manicure with Megan, my nails last without chipping for at least a week (sometimes even two). I have been going to her for years, and I will never go to anyone else. She just gets how to care for my nails and toenails (which always break and chip when I do not see Megan on a regular basis). I highly recommend her services if you want beautiful nails. I commute from Rittenhouse just to see Megan!! BONUS: She is really easy to talk to and has many hilarious stories to share! :) read more

My mom and I went to the salon on a whim. We were visiting family near by and needed haircuts. We didn't know anyone as this was our first time at the salon. To start off, it was a bit pricey, 65$ for a haircut. But that included a wash, a cut and a nice blowout. My hair was cut by Ruhsora. I have long, semi curly, full hair and I wanted more volume and nice layers. Ruhsora delivered. After the blow out my hair was beautiful and full of volume. I just washed my hair and honestly, it's as if I went back and got it done again. Each layer cascades and creates a very nice transition with lots of bounce. My moms hair was cut by Colette, who did a great job as well. My mom has thinner hair that's curly. Colette did a wonderful job styling it and cutting it so my mom can easily recreate the style again on her own. Overall, a good experience. I can't judge the atmosphere well, but it wasn't condescending or snobby. Maybe because we didn't spend enough time there. Everyone was nice and courteous to us, maybe not super friendly but not cold either. read more

I have been going to high Tech hair studio and salon since I was in high school and not once have they done me wrong. I have extremely, specifically long thick, course hair and it is very hard to work with, yet they are the only place that seems to know how to deal with my hair. They start with my highlights then they do my low lights, followed by a nice refreshing wash and condition then they cut my hair and thin it out, which is the most important thing if done right, which they always do. Then they do the layers exactly how I want them. Followed then by a blow out and it looks beautiful!The best part is that they will not let you leave until you are completely satisfied so please don't be scared to speak up if there's something that you don't like just point it out and they will be happy to fix it to your liking.I won't have to style or wash my hair for at least three days after leaving HiTech. Some people say that it is expensive but trust me it's worth every penny! I can't wait to get my new appointment ASAP! You have to try it at least once. You owe it to yourself. read more

I went there to have my makeup done professionally The staff is snooty. They try to act friendly but they just miss the mark. My make up was so heavily applied that I looked like I had a mask on. Very expensive and they do not listen to what you want. I also had my hair blown out there and had to come home and redo it! Not happy at all about my experience there. read more

I got a facial today by Karen and it was AMAZING. I came into High Tech with a face full of pimples and congested skin and immediately saw a change after I walked out of the salon. I recently felt as if I needed a change to my boring look. I heard about high tech from my friends in the neighborhood and decied to give it a try. The people there are super friendly and all so pretty! A girl named Deanna did my hair and I love love love it! I told her the look i was looking for and she went above and beyond and mastered it plus added her own touch to it which made it that much better! She was so easy to talk to and really sweet, she made me feel and look like a celeb after. I usually let her help me find the right cut for my face shape and personality, and it always turns out wonderfully. She also colors and highlights my hair; I love a natural look, and Jenna does it perfectly. I used to go to high tech years ago and left after a bad experience. I recently returned because I know that this salon always had good stylists. Well, not this time around. The salon has always been expensive and it still is with it costing close to $100 for a trim. I went in asking just to take just a tiny snip off of the ends to shape the cut since I was trying to grow out my hair to a longer length. I ended up with somewhat of a nicer shape cut- not the best but not the worst either. I didn't have bangs but I ended up with 2 1/2" bangs because the stylist decided to do whatever she wanted to. She moved too fast, talked fast, didn't listen to me and she constantly interrupted me when I tried to speak. When I saw more than a tiny snip of hair being loped off, I told her to stop and said I didn't like the long pieces falling to my lap but she interrupted me and said she needs to cut it to blend it in. She moves too fast and doesn't listen or stop. In a few seconds I had bangs that 2-3", layered from the top of my head all the way down to the bottom of my hair. The other side she didn't touch and I asked her why she cut bangs for me and that I didn't want or ask for bangs, she interrupted me and said it's a side bang and that I needed it done, that it's up to date, in-style and "that's what we are going for, right?" um...no. I'm going for what I asked for and it was simple, just a smidgen off the ends of the layers to shape my existing look. She kept interrupting me over and over again telling me how I have layers so she includes the bangs because it looks better and she has to blend it. It kept going on like this and she over talked and made every excuse and statement she could think of. It will take a long time to grow out... with 1/4"-1/2" a month it will take at least 6 months before I can tuck it behind my ear and another 4 months at the least to get it close to where it was. Before I left, she asked that I call her if I was not happy... wow that was awesome because I called right away to tell her again I was not happy and she kept interrupting me and said it would grow back in a month and to visit her in a weeks for another cut so she can shape it up again and "well, you just have to wait for the bangs to grow out". I asked for a partial refund, half of the cost of the cut, maybe some products and help in showing me how to twist, braid and hide the bangs til they grow out and she just kept interrupting me and talking over me and she had to go because she was busy. I called back asking for the salon owner and never got a call back. Forget this place. If they mess up, it's on you and they won't even help you when given the opportunity to make things right. It's not just about the money, it's about service and providing help when the salon gives a bad cut. It makes so much of a difference to the person receiving the bad cut to get a bit of help, attention and understanding. We are the ones who suffer the consequences of the bad cut and like me, it's going to be for a long time before things are back to normal. It's a horrible way to treat clients who pay top money for services at your salon. Have compassion. Be kind. Be helpful. Be better. read more

I went to this salon in need of a change, i walked in and was greeted by my stylist named Maria, she was bubbly and full of energy! She took me to her station where she asked me a little about myself and what i was interested in doing. I showed her a picture of a haircut that i liked, as well as a color. Well, she did exactly that while adding her own personal style in order to compliment my face and skintone. I was very pleased with the outcome and the blowout was amazing. She listened to me carefully and gave me her own opinions, she was very friendly to talk with and her assistant (Deanna?) was also! The only reason i did not give it more stars was the price..i put out a litle over $200 (tip included) for my hair to be cut-shoulder length, full foils, washed and dryed. I did not mind because of the service, and due to the fact i dont treat myself that much. Overall i had a nice experience at High Tech Hair Salon and i will return again in the future. read more
