Her doctors are at UPenn in Philadelphia and on their website we found Gini G's. Big mistake. We had a family wedding so we were pressured to buy a wig. We picked one out which cost $3,600. She just plopped on her head and told us to come back before the wedding to have it styled. A few days before the wedding, we returned for styling. We told her that the wig was very puffy near the hairline. She wet it and showed us it was flat. Looked at us like we were nuts! Then styled. My daughter brought wig to the hotel before wedding. When she removed from cover and put on, it was a flop. No curls. Hair is a mess. Gini also told us we could only color it darker not lighter. If it's real hair, that doesn't make sense. We have since brought to a wig specialist. They said we were very much overcharged. Gini is very cold and is not sympathetic to cancer patients. She asked me to give her a review. Here it is. What a wonderful place, Brittany did my hair. She spent 5+ hours transforming my dull black hair into a stunning warm brown. I love how there is different rooms for each thing- coloring room, wash room, styling room,etc. Everyone I met there was so nice and welcoming. It was so good to be back at Gini G's for my very over due cut and color. Due to covid, i have been hesitant to venture out and get my hair done but I'm so glad I did. I waited a year to post this review. My Mom was diagnosed with cancer and needed her head shaved and a new wig. I'd heard decent things about this place on Facebook, so we took the chance. The appointment "consultation" where she chose her wig was really odd. Gini was NOT warm at all. It was like we were a big inconvenience to her. Gini sent us down to this small wig room and left us there alone for a while while she finished up a client. Okay, no big deal - except it was like 25 minutes. So we finally pick out a wig that resembles my Mom's current hair style. A human hair wig (or so she said). We set the appointment and came back in for her to have her head shaved down and the new wig put on. Gini had colored it, and the color was actually good. That wasn't the part that made me uncomfortable. When it came time to shave my Mom's hair, Gini had more of a "buck up and let's get this done" attitude, which I get, sorta? But it wasn't in a cheerleader "you can do this!" way. It was in a "I'm busy and you need to sit still" way. She barely gave Mom any warning before shaving, which I understand could be to combat nervous jitters, but she was not delicate or loving about it. I swear, I am usually the type of person to let things go, but this woman was not the least bit sympathetic or gentle about this process. We felt like a number, and it was awful. I kept my opinion to myself for MONTHS, talking up the experience to my Mom because her self esteem and outlook was so poor - when finally, only a few months ago my Mom told me she didn't like the salon or Gini, confirming everything I had felt as well. She voiced every single thing I just said, without having me say it first. I felt awful, guilty. Like I'd subjected my dying mother to the worst experience ever when it was supposed to be empowering to shave her head before the chemo took it all. I still cannot apologize enough to her. The WIG. It's garbage. It cost over $2000 and we were sent home with a crappy wig stand and cheap comb. No shampoo, because apparently when you spend $2000 it isn't worth throwing in a mini bottle of wig shampoo. Mom took pristine care of this human hair wig, not applying too much heat, washing it gently when needed, and it's garbage. 3 different hair dressers have looked at it and told us it was at least partially synthetic, so there's that at well. The hair in it just falls out in clumps (she doesn't brush it - she uses the special big comb). It's just garbage. She got a $20 synthetic wig on Amazon that looks better than this. The entire experience was pretty difficult. It's bad enough getting cancer and having to get your head shaved, but then to be treated like you don't matter and getting an overpriced inferior product is a spit in the face. I would not recommend this studio. The only good thing about it was how it was decorated, if you're into that whole eclectic look. Look elsewhere. read more

Ok, so I'm what you'd call "picky" about who cuts my hair. I had been with the same salon for over 10 years. I ended up stumbling upon Gini G's accidentally based on a newspaper ad they ran. I gave them a shot. Well... From the minute I walked in the door I felt like I was part of their family. The warmth they exude and the treatment you receive is second to none. Needless to say my haircut was simply amazing. Gini, and her staff were professional yet personal. This is the way a customer SHOULD be treated in a salon/day spa. Since then I've also had manicures and pedicures and they measured up to what I've come to expect from Gini G's. Had an appointment scheduled for my mom for almost 2 weeks. Received a call a few hours later asking for me to come in 2 and half hours earlier. When I said I couldn't, it felt as though I was inconveniencing them, very rude. They called back and pretty much said, fine come in when you can. I canceled the appointment. They left a message saying they were trying to accommodate me?! Accommodating is "fitting" someone in, not asking me to change an appointment I have had scheduled for almost 2 weeks, then make me feel as though I was inconveniencing them! Who IS accommodating, is Wig Elegance in Langhorne. They were SOO nice and supportive to my mom who is going though a lot right now. Other customers that were there also stated, they have been to Gina G's, and the staff were so rude! read more

Gini was amazing and made an uncomfortable experience pleasant and easy . She is very friendly and caring as was her entire staff. Gini picked out a few wigs for me quickly that suited my face and skin tone. I wasn't feeling well the day I went to pick up my wig and Gini was very compassionate. There were a lot of customers in there waiting and were all pleased with their wigs - they were all beautifully done. I had to have my hair buzzed as well and Gini was very quick and I didn't feel bad about the process like I thought I would . I was very pleased with my experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gini G's. My daughter was with me and two year old granddaughter and both were welcomed with big smiles. My experience with this salon was life changing. I needed a hair piece to assured me that she would fine the exact curly hair piece for me. Also, she would be able to color it red just like my own color. Needless to say, I was thrilled when she fit me with this piece. Nobody could tell I was wearing anything artificial on my head. While reading few of the negative reviews,I truly don't understand what they are talking about as they complain about the staff. They bend over backwards for the customers. Going to this salon salon for hair extensions was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. I have thinning hair and for the past year I had the fused type of hair extensions. They looked good but were quite heavy and I was concerned that they were damaging my already thinning hair so I sought out a stylist who I hoped would be a specialist in thinning hair and therefore provide the type of extensions and application method that would be best for my thinning hair type. I knew that Gini did wigs for cancer patients so I assumed (huge mistake) that she would be an expert in hair extensions. The red flags were flying from the minute I entered the salon but I so wanted to believe, that I ignored them. I never asked for the price up front or the continuing upkeep costs, my fault, but they should have been given to me before the work was begun. I did not ask for a haircut as I keep my hair long and then use the extensions to fill in. She said my hair was damaged and proceeded to cut it just below my ears. Then my natural hair was not styled just blown dry by an assistant without using a brush . The extensions were attached into the unstyled hair and did not blend in with my newly cut hair. They were riculously wavy and my hair since not styled was frizzy. I had her angle the sides and flat iron the hair and it looked presentable. I left sick to my stomach that I spent a fortune on hair extensions that did not look right but I was stuck . I went back to have them reapplied in 4 weeks since many had fallen out and that is when the real nightmare began. I was told that she WOULD NOT replace them again unless I bought a second full set price $1250 . I may not have asked the price up frontt but I never would have gotten the extensions no matter how good if I was told I HAD to buy 2 sets up front. This reattachment after 4 weeks cost $450 and the majority of the hair fell out in 5 days. She did redo the extensions at no charge but they were all uneven. I have a photoi of the back of my head but I am not sure how to include oin the review. I went back to my old salon where my stylist had to cut the extensions and shorten the length almost 2 inches to even everything out .Chalk this one up to a very expensive lesson learned. read more

What an Angel. My friend was diagnosed with cancer recently and having lived in Phila. I knew of Gini G's and their work with thinning hair and wigs. Not only did Gini call me back within 15 minutes she asked me to email pictures of my friend so she could match her style.The wig was shipped the next morning to Indianapolis.
