I've had 3 experiences now. Twice for me and once for my son. The first experience went well - the older gentleman had a lot of experience, was meticulous and did what I asked him to do. I would go back to him again. My son's haricut from a woman in the shop was too long and not exactly the style that he's had for the last several years. The final experience was a young man who just started cutting my hair. I stopped him and said "Don't you want to know what I want?" . His response was "I know". When I pointed out that he'd never cut my hair before he simply said "I know". He then proceeded to cut my hair and whip my head around like a bowling pin so that he could finish quickly and get to his next victem. 2 out 3 fails means I won't be going back read more

Decide to get a cut here and check it out. At first the lady wasn't even wearing a mask properly and she basically gave me a bowl cut when I asked for a messy fringe. Also the cleanliness of the place is horrible. For the time I was there I did not see a single item be washed or sanitizer. All the comps were simply put in a drawer where there was a bunch of hair already. Update: Went back to the place to get my cut fixed and let me tell you Jose is the person you want to go to. With no extra cost he gave me a clean fix and he is an amazing guy. read more

This barbershop has been 50/50 for me. Some of the guys are great, but some will manage to mess up my haircut every time. Mind you, I dont have a complicated haircut. Its basically a high fade, and yet looking at my haircut right now I can see places where the fade is uneven. I'd score it well for a quick cut, except theres always a line it seems, so its not really that quick after all. If you go there, find a barber there that you like, and stick with them. read more

I have never walked out of this shop with a good haircut. They completely ignore your requests and make your hair ridiculously short. For such bad haircuts, it isn't even affordable. I ended up paying 20 dollars for my cut. For the same price you could just go to a good barber shop. To make it worse, the location is very inconvenient. There is no reason to come here. This particular barber seemed more preoccupied with setting a time record than following my request, just as I remembered him doing five years ago. He had an attitude and displayed impatience and ended up giving me an asymmetrical cut as a result of carelessly chopping away at my hair. Sure, bring your three year old son to get the hair out of his face for the time being, but for someone with standards, you wouldn't want to get stuck with any cut this guy gives you unless you get haircuts often. I wanted to grow it out for like 5 months but now I need to go fix it (and pay someone all over again) as soon as it grows to a manageable length. The first time I went, this experience gave me a huge impression in terms of learning to be more selective with barbers, it was a story I'd bring up time and again. Five years later I was actually very surprised that nothing had changed. Just as with anything, communication is key. For $20 it is a good price and the people are take their time to make sure they cut your hair well. In addition, there are usually no lines so you can walk in and instantly sit down for a haircut. Main barber on the left, Khalid, is very old school and doesn't know how to do a very basic fade. I have been to this barber shop countless times, becasue I try to give it a second chance, but am always disappointed with my haircuts. I think they need to revamp the shop and add some younger talent. When asking if he can do something a certain way, he says it's not the right technique, and then proceeds with his methodology which, when pertaining to a fade, leaves distinct lines, when this is supposed to be a smooth look FADED up to blend into the top. read more

If you want a fast cut of mediocre quality, this is your place. Most of their barbers try to get you in and out of the chair as fast as possible. In my last 3 cuts, they don't bother to shave your neck presumably to save time...unless you ask. They cut a lot of little kids which is probably their ideal market: parents want their kids in for a fast cut and as long as it's decent and not expensive, that's fine. read more

This is a barber shop for the kind of guy who doesn't really care so much about how his hair looks because he's given up on trying to get laid and is more concerned about just being in and out of the chair in 5 minutes.. My regular barber was all booked up today so I went here in a pinch because I was looking a little ragged for the 4th of July holiday.. Never again. The guy who gave me my cut (hefty bald guy) paid no attention to detail whatsoever. For instance, he put a guard on the buzzer and then proceeded to just cut all the hair on the sides and back all the same length. No gradation or style whatsoever, and then when I suggested he kinda do a little bit more to make it NOT look like I cut it myself, he looked befuddled and annoyed. The whole experience reminded me of when I got my haircut at bootcamp. The only thing missing was the vaccum on the buzzer. I've honestly seen butchers cut meat with more passion and skill. I tipped him $2 and feel foolish for having done that.. I'll have to go back to my regular guy in a few days to see what he can do to fix it up. read more

I had one of the worst haircut experiences of my life at High Ridge Barber Shop. I walked in and the owner of the shop was skyping extremely loud with his family from Egypt. When i asked to get a quick cut, he sat me down in a chair and continued his conversation with his family, screaming over me in Egyptian to this family members. I took my two-year-old son here at the recommendation of two mothers of young boys. The barber did a fantastic job and took his time to make sure things were nice and even despite my son's best efforts to mess it up. He was patient, reassuring and kind and we will return, for sure. Decent place but I don't plan to go back. $20 haircut, so the price is reasonable. No wait at all which is nice. All in all it looked good from a distance. When I got into my car to look closer, I saw that he should have cleaned up the sideburns a little more. I'll have to do that when I get home. The big reason I didn't rate them higher was because it seemed like he was trying to set an Olympic record for fastest haircut. (Probably only took 7 minutes) There were a lot of minor annoyances, like when he was working on the back of my head and ears, he was harsh and scraped/pinched me a lot like he didn't give a shit if he hurt me. He was also on the phone the whole time which was loud and awkward. When he was brushing my hair, he used a huge heavy hairbrush and it was like he was trying to smack my hair into place by repeatedly hitting me with the brush. These were all just minor annoyances but it certainly made it less appealing. Next time I'll wait until I'm back in NYC to get a haircut from Ace of Cuts Barber Shop in East Village. $2 cheaper and 6 star service. That is right, I added an extra star above maximum.
